I like the 3-ply stuff.

I once found some nice aloe vera 3-ply stuff that was like wiping your butt with a silky cloud. Super soft and very nice. I've not been able to find it since though... :(

If you happen to live in/near an area with a Costcow (probably US only) I have to say I like their brand of TP. Though for some reason all Costco brand stuff actually goes by the name of Kirklandw. It's not the best/softest TP you'll ever find, but it's good enough for me.

Don't mean to be a drag, but this is really old. I remember seeing this in a meeting at work in 2003 and even then it wasn't exactly new to me.

That said, it is still really cool.

Now they should make a study about writing in such a way :) I guess it would be much harder than reading it.

A friend and I had a fake "flame war" with each other in Gmail back when it was still pretty new. wi purpsly rote 2 eechudder liek tipicle forim trollz uzign obvius mispeligns adn fonix lolololol!!111 it wuz gr8 phun butt defin8ly tuk a littel bit logner 2 reed tahn teh stuf taht kyrathaba postid. lolz!!1

While I myself prefer the over method, I see #2 (for under) as an extremely compelling practical reason for the under method but only if you have a frequent problem with children or pets or earthquakes unraveling your toilet paper.

The poster explains the physics, but it's also harder and less comfortable on the human body (when children are the problem) to unravel the paper that way.

Really that's the only reason I can see why anyone would want to use the under method.

I'm an over person, but not for any of the reasons listed there.

Toilets are toilets. With the 'under' method, just how often do you think that people will brush their fingers against the wall trying to get hold of the paper? Maybe people will clean toilet seats, and toilet pots, but will ANYONE clean the wall underneath the toilet holder? Do you?

I know I don't. Thus: over it is. ;)

That's actually one of the reasons listed as a Pro for "over the roll." See #2 in the Advantages section for Over.

If you mount the holder vertically, it ends the argument. Arguing about the end on the left or right isn't quite the same and doesn't carry the same passionate beliefs.  ;)

It's just like app to turn a (t)issue on its side! Smart thinking, really. :P

BTW, last year I discovered that those CD/DVD spindles that hold 100 discs work pretty well as a toilet paper dispenser. Depending on how thick (circumference) the roll is, you can slide it on the spindle and then put the plastic case on it to keep the roll from getting smashed. Then just stick it in the back of your car as part of your emergency kit.

NECROTHREAD REVIVAL!

I accidentally came across these videos again today on YouTube. Maybe I just needed a few more years of life experience because this time I really enjoyed most of them.

But I'm not sure I like what that infers about my change in perspective these past few years... :-\

Do I need a jacket?

Look here.

Not quite as straight-to-the-point as goingtorain.com. I had to type in my zip code, then select from a bunch of nearby locations. It was actually slightly confusing.

I just basically copied mouser's example in the video and configured ScreenshotCaptor to upload images to imgur using Cautomaton and RightLoad.

Thanks!

Huh... I just tried that one and it said I was a bot. :o I have better luck with the hard to read captchas it seems. :-\

I'm surprised they don't try to market it as a feature, like some of those recent folks at Google:

"We track everything about you so that one day you won't even have to decide what you want! We'll know and we'll automatically have your iDevice purchase/display it for you!"

Meh.

Apple's not the first company to initially offer only a single color choice and then about a year later start offering other colors. It's annoying (for early adopters who would have preferred a different color) but not exclusive to Apple.

That said, nudone is probably right.

"Apple, we took a year to get white right."

Now that sounds exactly like the kind of marketing they'd use - and it is exactly the kind of thing Apple-Drones want to hear.

Since we're posting in really old threads, I can say I know of (but haven't really used) TypeFaster Typing Tutor. Though I think it's really just called TypeFaster.

http://www.typefastertypingtutor.com/

PortableApps.com even has it (and TIPP10, mentioned above by sajman99) available as a portable app.

Sony has finally come clean about the "external intrusion" that has caused the company to take down the PlayStation Network service, and the news is almost as bad as it can possibly get. The hackers have all your personal information, although Sony is still unsure about whether your credit card data is safe. Everything else on file when it comes to your account is in the hands of the hackers.

In other words, Sony's security has failed in a spectacular fashion, and we're just now finding out about it. In both practical and PR terms, this is a worst-case scenario.

What did they get?

Here is the data that Sony is sure has been compromised if you have a PlayStation Network Account:

  • Your name
  • Your address (city, state, and zip)
  • Country
  • E-mail address
  • Birthday
  • PSN password and login name

There's also a good chance that credit card details (except security code) were made available as well. Read the rest of the article on Ars Technica.

I love Chrome and wouldn't uninstall it anyway. But yeah this problem needs to be fixed.

I don't know but I'm guessing that's an Android? Either way, if it has Swype, try it. I really like it and personally think Swype would make it OK to not have a physical keyboard.

This is completely unhelpful but I just use MineOS+.

If your linux box was a bit more powerful, I might suggest running MineOS+ in a VM.

It would also solve government ID problems too~! Really! Like who would want to use anyone else's ID verification chair? :D

So you're suggesting the new form of ID is a stool sample? ;D

It would certainly make internet cafés much less appealing.

I know I downloaded the Portable version, but the DcUpdate file links to download the exe which runs the installer? Shouldn't it download and unpack the zip file over the current files?

Well, the issue is that I have no idea if you're running the portable or installed version.  I suppose I could check the registry.

You could also keep a separate dcupdate file that is included with the portable version. I'm not sure what the best solution would be, but I've converted the portable Trout zip file to be compatible with PortableApps.com Launcher and this is the final thing that's preventing it from being truly portable.

One man just won a ruling against Sony in Finland since a new game he purchased for his PS3 required the removal of OtherOS:

http://psx-scene.com...er-os-removal-85452/

Though, once you read the fine print, you realize that the Consumer Complaints Board, who made the ruling, have no legal authority to enforce the ruling.

The CCB does not have the power to enforce its ruling, but the opinion of the CCB in Finland is considered by the courts in a dispute.

Even still, it seems like it sets a precedent.
