But LastPass was supposed to be the last password I'd need to remember.

Ever.

Says so right on their website and Twitter profile.

I'm not happy with LastPass right now. >:(

I just went out of town today to stay at my sister's house for the weekend. I tried to sign into LastPass so I could sign into my other accounts, but due to this recent anomaly they wanted me to verify that I was myself. They did this by sending me an e-mail.

How am I supposed to log into my e-mail account to get the verification e-mail when my 40 character password to my e-mail account is stored away in my LastPass account that I can't log in to until I verify my e-mail?

I pretty much only use the "Unread Posts" page on these forums. All the most recent posts are at the top of the page that way.

Ah. Kind of strange to hide it like that. You'd think Buddy notification would be somewhere more prominent at least.

I've seen him, here, today, in a flash ;D (see attachment in previous post)
Something or someone pulled him over, thanks for that!

What is that? Is there a link to current members online or something?

Interesting. You'd normally expect to see this kind of thing for eBay. I wouldn't have expected it for Amazon, though. :)

Thanks masu.

Haha! The last one is awesome. :)

But seriously, Home Alone and The Little Mermaid? I thought I saw both of those right around the time they came out, but I'm not in my 30s.

assuming Sony's IT guys are not complete idiots

That's quite an assumption to make. Consider the following evidence:

In congressional testimony this morning, Dr. Gene Spafford of Purdue University said that Sony was using outdated software on its servers — and knew about it months in advance of the recent security breaches that allowed hackers to get private information from over 100 million user accounts.

Also, I don't know exactly how it works, but the way the PS3 was finally hacked was the master key could be figured out because Sony used a static/constant number in the encryption scheme where there should have been a completely random number.

Well, I just use Steam as my game launcher. Even for non-Steam games. But that probably won't be useful for games that require DOSBox.

So... It's a robot you can program, hence the encouragement to learn how to program it?

I wonder if it can interact specifically with other Finch robots.

Living Room / Re: Techno Life Skills -- anything you buy, you must maintain
« Last post by Deozaan on May 04, 2011, 02:47 AM »
No. This is what is taught while growing up in a high-tech age.

  • Anything you buy, you must upgrade as soon as a new version comes out or the old one breaks.
  • If you can't figure it out immediately, the design sucks. Get good products instead of that crap.
  • Higher price means better quality. Duh!
  • Every new technology is awesome incarnate. Pay no heed to the man behind the curtain.
  • Padded walls are for your own safety. Don't try to fix it, modify it, or hack it yourself. It could be dangerous and besides it voids your warranty.
  • The older a technology, the more likely it will make you look like an older person trying to be cool with the younger generation. You don't want that, do you?

and so on.

Too funny! The above gawker link locked up my iPhone twice when I tried to read it! My client just tried it on her's. Same result.

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing because there's a PDF file embedded in the site.

I'm confused, if you're using FF 99% of the time, what "important" stuff are you doing in IE?

A lot of government websites only work properly in IE.

I don't understand your point.  Do you really want to know my degree (engineering) or are you trying to say I'm not qualified to say such things?
I'm asking what qualifies you to say such things with any credibility.

You don't need a degree to be educated on a topic. And in my opinion, most of the so-called experts with the "correct" degree(s) who are paraded around on TV aren't very credible.

I had Windows 7 Ultimate on my netbook since shortly after it came out until just a couple months ago. It ran but it was generally sluggish.

Now they should make a study about writing in such a way :)

If I remember correctly, this method of writing actually originated from a study done in a university in the UK.

Don't quote me on that, but im pretty sure it did

Ehm OK, people don't have a problem providing their whole biography to Sony, but they are in panic when hackers get it too?

So by that logic, if you ever purchase anything, EVER, then you shouldn't care if anyone else in the whole world gets your bank info?

And here I thought you said you were an intelligent troll.
5424
I got a phishy sounding voicemail today:

We're calling on behalf of your financial institution concerning your debit or ATM card. Please return this call at 1(800) 830-1925 Again. That number is 1(800) 830-1925. We have representatives available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Thank you, goodbye.

I Googled the number and found a site with a bunch of people saying it was legitimate, but I still didn't trust it so I just called my bank instead. My bank told me about an unauthorized charge to my card from a company in New Jersey (I'm on the other side of the continent, in Idaho). Thankfully my bank was smart enough not to let the charge through, so I don't need to worry about trying to get my money back. My card has been cancelled and a new one is being reissued. Ugh, now I need to update PayPal and Amazon and NewEgg and a whole lot else after I get my new card.

This is the same card I had on my PSN account. If you have or ever had your details on a PSN account, be watchful! This charge didn't show up on my online banking statement at all.

Of course this only works on people that are literate.

Ironically such a text is only likely to come *from* someone who's not. ;)

And I can't even imagine how difficult it might be for someone who has dyslexia.
