Hi there!
I have very large blue eyes, I'm chunky, have long hair, glasses, I wear bunny ears while I am working, and I am so pale that my skin glows in the dark. I don't wear dresses, high heels, or makeup, but it's not because I am a tomboy. I just like being comfortable.
Everything else you can base on your impression of me or just make it up. Have fun!-app103 (January 02, 2015, 06:20 AM)

I'm game.stoic...any chance you are a female (sorry! i don't know!). I need more female characters, so they get priority.

The movie was...um...mostly less so. Sinclair Lewis's It Can't Happen Here handled that theme far better, and frankly, far more believably - no scifi or fancy tech needed to pull it off. Lewis's book should be required reading for every schoolchild in America. (I'm not holding my breath for that however.) And I'd love for someone to make it into a major motion picture. (Not holding my breath for that one either.)V the 1983 miniseries doesn't count?-40hz (December 16, 2014, 01:36 PM)
Character sheets!lol...definitely can do something fun with you. i would like you to be similar to "The Wolf" character from pulp fiction. Only you don't clean up murders, you clean up the tracks of the pirate bay as they go through their takedown/move/startup cycles.
HP: Hit points (reach 0 and you die)
MP: Mana points (or magic points)
BP: Bit points (used like MP, except for writing software or hacking Sony)

We've spoken more than few times personally, both online and on the phone. So we're hardly strangers..yea...i already have something in mind for you. was just giving an opportunity to override it! lol. so your look basically centers around something like "the dude" but with cleaner, more modern clothing, playing a cigar box bass at the back of the stage of some kind of 4 piece band...and you're stationed right next to the server/audio equipment.
Go for it.-40hz (December 30, 2014, 11:16 PM)

It'll be easier with me going forward.I plan on drastically cutting back my online presence starting next year. It's one of my top resolutions. And I'm usually pretty good at keeping them.

I don't know if it will help but what order are the adapters listed in under Network Connections->Advanced->Advanced Settings->Adapters and BindingsWell I'll be! That seems to have done the trick! And you have shown me a corner of windows I never even knew about!

I was still in college when I saw (and got excited) for the first LOTR trailer. Damn. It actually bookends my entire career so far.-superboyac
It seemed to take forever to get a decent version. When I finally watched the trilogy it was like some burden had been removed(like maybe throwing a ring into Mount Doom?) Now I feel like I can ignore LOTR stuff for the duration.
The analogous situation was the Atlas Shrugged movie part I. Except in this case I have no desire to see the remaining installments. Talk about a lackluster rendition of the story! It was like someone traversed a checklist of everything that had to be there, with no feeling about any one item in particular. What a waste. I watched the entire flick waiting for something to happen. Nothing did.-MilesAhead (December 29, 2014, 10:58 AM)
that's almost word for word what i said as i was walking out of the theater!the ultimate abuser: epic battle scenes and transformers. just once, I wish they would zoom waaaay out and let us watch an enormous battle unfold for a SOLID 30 seconds. And no more one guy mowing down hundreds of enemies. And in the transformer's case, let's have fewer pipes and metal parts for the robots so we can actually see facial features and other things that help us figure out what is going on, what body parts are involved, etc. I don't want to see a bunch of pipes crammed together and spend a few seconds "is that the eye? is that the arm? am i looking at a home depot shopping cart?"^Very nice dancer there. Too bad it's so hard to tell.

It's true that dance can be very dramatic. But that doesn't make it a drama - which most people who make movies and videos simply can't seem to grasp.

I think they trained at the MTV school of film production. More important than content is shifting the shot every couple of seconds to force the observer to refocus. Supposedly this keeps people watching even though nothing good is shown. The trick is old now. I wish they'd think up a new gimmick.
Edit: Fortunately it's not 2015 yet as I've pointed this out at least a dozen times on DC. New Years res. is to let it and similar rest.-MilesAhead (December 29, 2014, 05:54 PM)

What is it about these morons who film dancers? Why must they always do those dumb-ass tight closeups, quick cuts, and camera shifts? This is not an action film. It's dance.
The entire point of a dance is its continuity and line. And the movement through space. You need to step back and get the entire performance area in the visual frame in order for the viewer to adequately see and appreciate that. Shooting dance like it's some movie 'action' sequence - or like they also seem to be doing with sports lately - completely destroys that.
It's true that dance can be very dramatic. But that doesn't make it a drama - which most people who make movies and videos simply can't seem to grasp.

Well, just came from a pre-release showing of 'The Hobbit - Battle of the Five Armies'.I saw this yesterday. I don't know what to say. I feel like I've graduated from something. What is this, 18 hours of Peter Jackson's Tolkien? What a journey, I was still in college when I saw (and got excited) for the first LOTR trailer. Damn. It actually bookends my entire career so far. Time flies...even the elves have aged noticeably.
(see attachment in previous post)
Though I long ago abandoned any hope that Peter Jackson and company would follow the books in any semblance of exactivity (and who's to say the movies would have been better for it if they had?), but I was not disappointed. If you're a Tolkien fan and have already seen the others, don't miss this one, it's just as good (or, if you're not a fan, just as bad) as the previous installments. 'Nuff said.
Not in 3D, but it was free because my son's orthodontist does a "customer appreciation" event every year where he rents out the entire theater and only customers/patients and family can go to see the latest hit. Call me a cheap date if you will, but hey, I got to go to a movie with my wife (looooong overdue), and my son thoroughly enjoyed it.

Just installed this in bedroom:Nice! Lutron is top of the line stuff. I used to do a lot of work with a Lutron rep, I like their technology. I was once about to install some kind of lutron device that would allow me to control one light switch remotely with a separate wireless button. But I never did and now we have probably a zillion other kinds of lighting automation options with apps and stuff. That remote looks nice...is there an app (optional or otherwise) for that thing?

This is close to one of my favorite movies of all time, along with it's companion OUTI America. I went into both of these movies stone cold, and both times, as I was approaching the end of the movie, it hit me how crazy good everything was. It just pounced upon me like that after 2+ hours. What an experience. I've tried so hard to try to understand what sergio leone is doing in these movies, but it's quite hard to explain. Of the last 15 years, these two first-time watchings were probably my favorite movie experiences. It usually takes me a lot of retrospect and analysis for me to call someone a genius, but by the end of these two movies, I was already thinking "This mutherf----r is goddamn genius."+1! Awesome flick.-40hz (December 19, 2014, 07:54 PM)
