Would it be worth the effort for you to allow for user-selected wav file option when capture takes place?

I prefer a really clear distinct and LOUD camera CLICK so that I'm certain that a snap has actually taken place.

I think MiniCap + Windows Scheduled Tasks would in fact be better, as all I want to capture are those particular times, and only on weekdays.

So, used in command-line set-up.  I believe all the file-naming possibility remains the same?  MiniCap hasn't been updated for some time.

An important competitive advantage Screenshot Captor has over other such programs is the extensive file-naming control.  I wouldn't want to give that up.

Thanks much!

Suppose I'd like five automatic screen snaps per weekday, on a separate computer off to the side.

Say: 8am, 10am, 12 noon, 2pm, 4pm

Would Screenshot Captor be the best tool for that?

If so, how would that be setup?

If not, would you please suggest the more appropriate application?  (perhaps using Windows Scheduled Tasks, for example?)

Thanks much,
Nicholas

Thanks so much.

My mind is swimming with so many options here.

Would someone please put together the code for the following?  Hopefully this request will help others as well....

-- Hit a hotkey, say PrntScrn

-- Take snap of entire single monitor

-- Save to folder:  c:\snaps\

-- Save in png format

-- Use the following date/time format for file naming:  yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss

-- Make a nice distinct audible sound so that I have confidence a screenshot was actually snapped (allow user to select some wav file, such as a camera click of choice -- my wav file is located at c:\sounds\camera.wav)

-- Stay "resident" so that I can hit PrntScrn again and again after while

End result should be:
c:\snaps\2011-08-25 16:23:37.png
c:\snaps\2011-08-25 19:04:52.png
c:\snaps\2011-08-25 21:18:01.png
c:\snaps\2011-08-26 00:48:29.png
etc...

Thanks much!

This form works:  =====$n

I used another text editing program to strip all blank lines from the file first.

The added features don't seem to be taking:

-- Remember last used directory for storing created files.
-- Remember last used delimiter.

Question:  Is there some upper limit as to how many lines allowed, in either ClipTrap or Chopping List?

Say, for example, 100,000 lines?

Will things choke.....

Chopping List is terrific.  Unstacks the ClipTrap output beautifully.

One possible enhancement request perhaps:  If there are blank lines at the beginning and/or end of each created file, delete those blank lines.

Renaming of the files is not so crucial, Skwire.  Never mind about that for now.  The file names created by Chopping List may work fine.

No longer have to worry about any conversion.  Output direct from ClipTrap is fine.

Just have to figure out how to break up and save the ClipTrap output.

I'll look into Chopping List.  Thank you.

The file names are pretty important.  There will be around 200+ files resulting.  And I plan on doing that over and over many times.

As you have now allowed for custom delimiters in ClipTrap between copy 'sets' (if you remember, I requested that) that may provide some additional possibilities for making the output dividing easier.

I found a way to convert text files into Excel files.

So, now, getting back to Skwire's ClipTrap output....  I've copied many sets of data.  Each copy action, using ClipTrap, sends what's being copied to a temporary long text file.  Between these text file 'sets' is a delimiter -- I chose a series of equal signs.  Below is an example of the output held in ClipTrap after copying three sets of data:

set 1
12345
12345
12345

=====

set 2
12345
12345
12345

=====

set 3
12345
12345
12345

=====

I need a way to 'unstack' this output, placing each set into a separate file.

Ideally the filenames would be the text label at the top of each set.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Nicholas

Appears to be a good lead.  I'll try it out.  Thank you!

Post New Requests Here / Copy (and Auto-Paste) Directly to New Excel Worksheet
« Last post by nkormanik on August 03, 2011, 03:04 AM »
Skwire provided ClipTrap which I use often.  Terrific program.  Captures copy and pastes automatically to file.

Now I have another semi-related request:

I'm copying from a complex time-line chart (on the surface, a graphics image).  Each line on the chart actually, when copied, is the data BEHIND the line on the chart -- a column of data (date, value).

I need to get the data from each line on the chart into a separate Excel worksheet -- one worksheet per chart line.  There are around 50 lines on the chart.  So..., 50 separate worksheets would be the result I need.

Ideally, as with ClipTrap, each time I copy, the data would automatically go into a (separate worksheet) file.

Naming the files will be an issue as well -- names will simply be xxx numbers, 001, 002, etc.

If we can't arrive at the ideal solution, can any here think of the fastest, easiest way of pasting data into 50 separate worksheets?

I'll be happy to clarify if the above isn't clear enough.

Thanks for your help.

Nicholas

Snippet delimiter is now exactly as I was wanting:

\r\n\r\n=====\r\n\r\n

And any other possibility as well for other users.

Sure hope the world takes note.  Makes life so much easier.

One additional thought of appreciation -- you chose to include auto word-wrap of the text.  Fantastic!  Other programs don't include that -- you end up with a stupid block of text that takes forever to reformat.  ClipTrap does it automatically.  What a godsend.

There certainly are lots of clipboard managers out there, offering all sorts of feature sets.  I've tried them all.

HOWEVER, ClipTrap version 1.05 is now top of the heap when a user simply wants to collect any number of text snippets from any source in a very orderly way.  No other clipboard manager is capable of doing it as well.

And Skwire has provided his wonderful utility to the world absolutely free, no nag screens, no extra ads, simply pure value.

Everyone should grab this gem.

Thanks again,
Nicholas Kormanik

I would greatly appreciate it, Skwire.

As things are at present with ClipTrap, it's hard to clearly see where one snippet stops and another begins -- especially as many snippets cover several paragraphs.

I think with the clear separation between snippets ClipTrap would be a must-have utility, and get tons of praise out there in cyberland.  ClipTrap would be the best in its category.  And FREE.  Unbelievable value.

Very useful to add extra blank line between clips.

What I'd prefer, though, is the following:

=====

That is:  a blank line, five equals signs, another blank line.

Probably we all have our own preference to separate clips.

Perhaps you could allow the user to come up with their own, a custom between-clips separator?

Thanks for a really terrific program.
