QuickImageComment:
QuickImageComment displays EXIF, IPTC, and XMP properties of digital images (e.g. JPEG and TIFF) and allows to edit them. Especially editing of user comment and artist (author) is supported by using the last entered or predefined values. These attributes are read from the EXIF, IPTC, and XMP properties of the image and are stored there.

Overview of features are:

The program displays all EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties, as well as some other file properties such as modification date.
In addition to the full lists of EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties a list of properties is displayed, which is configurable.
In addition to user comment and artist further EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties can be changed. The list of modifiable properties can be configured.
Data templates can be defined to set several properties in one step.
Via placeholder it is possible to copy values of properties in others.
Changes can be carried out simultaneously for two or more files.
EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties can be deleted, thereby exceptions can be defined. Single properties can be deleted selectively.
Files can be renamed using Exif, IPTC and XMP properties.
The EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties contained in the files can be compared.
A special mask is used to synchronize the recording time of a set of images taken with different cameras. Images are grouped by properties (mostly camera model). For each group, a shift of the recording time can be entered. Then the images are immediately sorted in order to check whether the images are then in the correct timely order.
Selected image properties of all images in a folder (including any subfolders) can be exported to a text file.
All image properties of selected images can be exported to text files (one file per image).
Display metadata (XMP) of video files as well (depending on the operating system and, if necessary, installed components) display a frame of the video.
[..]
Further processing of the images (e.g. adjusting the contrast and brightness) is not the purpose of this program.
It has a GPL license, and is the first free (as in beer) WinGUI program I've seen that can do all that.  Note the "Selected image properties of all images in a folder (including any subfolders) can be exported to a text file" feature, which could be used, for example, to generate a list of the focal lengths you've used most, to inform future camera or lens purchases.
only seeing this now, looks very impressive
Doesn't seem to show Picasa's name tags.

Very early film usually plays at a very high speed (I'm not sure why) and is silent...
Here, the uploader corrected the speed and added sound to 1890's footage from Paris, France.
Makes it much more real for me:

LED light is problematic for the eyes. Most phone screens these days are LED backlit. Wonder is OLED any better? (you could check that out).
Dimmer screens and more yellow light is easier on the eyes. (OTOH dimmer screens / less contrast will also cause eye strain.)
In my phone I can change the hue of the light -- I made it more yellow but this does not seem to stick. The phone is also set to auto-brightness -- yellow tinge also varies, presumably with surrounding brightness i.e. implementation is poor -- I think these are default Android settings.

There are also the old tricks:
  • vary where your eyes focus -- look in the distance regularly to (1) give your eyes a rest from focusing at fixed distance (2) to keep them working :-/
  • looking at green is good to rest the eyes (seriously) -- combine with step above.

You need to know (I quote the first three)
  • what should be in future issues
  • who is doing what article
  • what needs to be done
  • when it needs to be done by
#1 would include knowing how much space need to be filled yet.

I haven't really used Trello:
presumably one be would make a new 'Trello' for each issue of the magazine.
You wouldn't be able to interconnect some of the info though (?) e.g. which articles is Mr.Jones writing etc.

Would some sort of an Information Manager not be better, where you can interconnect all this info. Would initially be more work, but probably a time-saver in the long run.
My IM is InfoQube (IQ), but there are probably many others that could manage this info. (IQ is not freeware but is still in beta so available free for the moment. I dont know if there are good freeware/O.S. options in this direction (?))

By the way, here are SeaMonkey nightly builds, even based on the "new" Firefox engine:
http://www.wg9s.com/comm-257/
is that a recommendation, or (just) a suggestion for 'works with FF extensions' ?
Veering off-topic:
I'm still mainly using Pale Moon, but was finding problems with some sites in the last while (e.g. not allowed to log into PayPal -- this may be now fixed, I dont go there that often; there were other examples but cant remember them now)

I've never made a set of grids myself but *think* that would be possible.

Can you clarifly re the shortcut:
you want eight shortcuts, one for each position?
Would the method Win+g (to show the overview of positions) followed by the relevant number be acceptable?

Thanks, I do mainly use a dell laptop, but appear to have removed this early on. It was annoying me but I cant remember how exactly (must keep a better computer diary).

there's no images at that link...
do you have another link for her images? (or what's your source for that image?)
Try again. You can always download the image and then do a Google Images search for a source link or you can right-click it and do the search that way. The first way gives you the original highest-res image.
was interested to see other images by the same person, but not up to much (imo)

I'm curious if the face recognition still works in isolation from Google?
I have mainly used Picasa in isolation from google, (but on windows 7). Face recognition worked fine for me -- but I haven't used Picasa actively in a year or so.

I don't know if it is just me or for everyone. Is there a setting to show the clipboards instantly? Thank you.
are you talking about the 'quick-paste menu' ?
or the main windows?

Both show very quickly here on pressing shortcut.
Can you give some more information ?

This is how Zoho handles your creation of what I will call sub-calendars, or component calendars.  Whatever you have checked will be showing its entries, and you essentially can combine them any way you want, but you cannot save what we would call a "combined calendar View"

[..] How does Google compare?
-Steven Avery (April 04, 2019, 08:04 PM)
pretty much the same thing with google, you can combine calendars, but it does not save combinations.

Living Room / Re: Movies you've seen lately
« Last post by tomos on April 03, 2019, 01:00 PM »
Binge watched these two lately:
Outlander 2013
Vikings 2014 (imdb links)

both start impressively, interesting to be confronted with such different worlds.
The main character in Vikings is intriguing: Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), although it took me a good while to get used to (and not annoyed by) the eternal half-smile he has on his lips.
Floki (Gustaf SkarsgÄrd) is a great character, the unpredictable jester.
It lost steam, I can remember when exactly, I gave up on it sometime in the third season.

Outlander got very tiresome in season two (meaningless intrigue looking for meaning).
Third season going well, currently at episode 6 of 13.

Both fairly quickly started using flawed plot lines -- things that were unbelievable to me, or simply didn't make sense. I dunno, I guess they get too bogged down in the huge act of making something like this and forget about the details.

I reckon InfoQube (IQ) would be very suitable for this. IQ has recently gotten a hierarchical Tagging system:
http://infoqubeim.co...drupal5/?q=node/4355

Here an example of a relational database in IQ -- "InfoQube is not a relational database, this, by-design. Using a number of features however, it can handle tasks which are traditionally handled by relational database systems.":
http://infoqubeim.co...drupal5/?q=node/3962

I'm not expert in organising/structuring myself but have gotten help in the past in the IQ forums setting up a file/structure for my needs.

^ slightly off-thread-topic, but 84% believing they can work better from home does not necessarily mean they can work better from home (says the bloke who tried to work from home [self-employed] for 15 years, and eventually gave it up as not-suited-to-me).

So why hasn't anything been done to provide what would essentially be improved working environments that were more conducive to productivity for office workers?
From experience as a lapsed bean counter, my take is that it's still all about direct/indirect costs
seems likely :-/
