Circle Dock / Re: Circle dock - how to start automatic with VISTA O.S
« Last post by sgtevmckay on October 14, 2009, 08:09 PM »
I have been working wth Rainmeter for a while now and we find that Write to files that are to be placed in the programs file will require that the program is run with Admin Privies.

Now you can not start a program that has Admin Privies set as default when starting.

I am wondering if this is a similar issue.

Welcome to the CircleDock forums here at Donationcoder  :D

I have done a small tutorial covering this in the past
Forum post here:

Let me know if this helps. If not let me know, and we will get you through this friend

I am wondering if this is not something in the UAC catching the CD.

I am also wondering if the programs you close are still showing as a running process.
Once the programs are closed can you open the process manager and see if the programs you have closed are still listed as active?

An other suggestion: Can you substitute the stackalonestack with ver2? In ver 2 there is shorthcut navigation feature ^___^

You will need to look into this modification of the Stack.

Circle Dock / Comminique from the folks at RocketDock
« Last post by sgtevmckay on September 28, 2009, 05:18 PM »
I have been fortunate enough to hear back from RocketDock's programmer (PolyVector)  :-* :)

The message as follows:

Open Message
Hello Sarge,
Don't worry, no offense taken. :)

To be quite honest, I would recommend you write a new "Docklet"-like SDK if at all possible... The existing SDK's are pretty out of date, poorly documented, and lack things like Unicode support.  RocketDock's "docklets" are simply my attempt to implement the ObjectDock Docklet SDK.  My implementation is very specific to RocketDock (and also very sloppy) so I'd rather not give it out.  If you still want ObjectDock Docklet support, I would begin by downloading their official SDK here: http://storage.stard...Docklet_SDK_v1.0.zip

That zip contains all the information you would need to implement a compatibility layer into CircleDock, and it's what I used for RocketDock

You may also want to ask RaduKing (Maker of RK Launcher) about this since he's implemented more docklet SDK's than I have.  The best of luck to you with this project!

Cheers,
PolyVector

End of message

I would be more than happy to open a line of communication with RaduKing.
Let me know how you wish to proceed.

The Sarge

Circle Dock / Re: The next unofficial version
« Last post by sgtevmckay on September 28, 2009, 02:23 PM »
ObjectDock Docklets are built on an SDK freely distributed.
Here:
Docklet SDK

I will investigate a source code for RocketDock, as I believe that RocketDock also uses the same SDK for Docklet builds.

There is also the following resource. This has been apparently abandoned, or just ignored, but maybe of assistance:
xDockManager
Unknown from what this was originally developed.

I will see if I can contact Skunkie, but I have not heard from the RocketDock dev team in some time.

Let me know what else you require, and also be aware that I am no programmer by any means, so if you require something, you may have to be Lamen in your description.

@ Markham

If you require a copy of the older version of CircleDock with the spiral, please advise. I may have one archived in my BU HDD.
It would take me a couple of days, but I think I can get it to you.

Apparently the folks at DevArt heard the call and reviewed the post at the site.
Although they recognized that there was a note of this not being original work, they did feel it inappropriate.
As there have been no recent updates from the original builder, they have found this site and feel the software is still alive, and inappropriate credit was given to the original author.

This was there final decision with many unneeded apologies.
I was on the front lines with all of you.

My apologies for not being as active as I would like in these forums.
Rainmeter development and Forum Admin has me tied down.
I want to thank all the donationCoder members that have covered in my absence.

I want to thank all of you who posted the violation to DevArt and for supporting VIP his work.

As I have been reading an unofficial version with updates is available.
I have been working a little with this version, and I am very impressed, and I hope that folks that helped support CircleDock and VIP will also support this latest builder who wishes to expand on what our beloved VIP has built.

I know for many of us, it is hard to swallow, but I fear for the return of Mr. Wong, and after several moths of emails, maybe it is time to pass the rod onto a new builder or builders.
I will still await VIP's return, but I must also keep in mind the user of this spectacular piece of software, and it is well beyond time for it to move forward.

I welcome the new builder: Markham
I hope that all of you will do the same.

I can not guarantee that I will be around more often, but I am watching, and I will always have an interest, and I will help when I can.

I am so sorry for teh delayed response. I have been incredibly busy with a work contract.

To answer teh questions:
To eliminate teh car there is 2 easy ways.
1.) Right click in teh bar field, and empty area, and go through the Menu until you find Close Skin.
2.) right click Rainmeter in teh systems tray and find the appropriate item and follow through teh drop menus until you find close skinFor instructional material on Rainmeter, there is teh help file that comes with Rainmeter, The forum (www.rainmeter.net/Forum), teh RainWiki in progress (www.rainmeter.net/rainwiki), there is the initial manual (http://www.ipi.fi/~rainy/Rainmeter/Manual.html), a ton of documentation through LifeHacker, But I suggest the help file and the forum as a good starting point

Once again my apologies for my delay in response, and I hope to be a bit quicker in the future  :-[

Apologies, I had to get about 12 and 3/4's winks, I pulled a 30+ hour day on the new release, and were not done yet  ;D

Am I an developer: No  8)
But I am a member of the Dev Team, and one of the forum site Admin.
My job: Go getter, Demolitions Man, Tutorials and Education, and the proverbial foot to rear-end motivator.
I have taken on the task of resurrection, now that that is accomplished, I want to ensure that Rainmeter moves forward as a community based effort.

if you follow the image below, all you need to do is right click on the Rainmeter systems tray icon, go to Config, and find the Enigma entry, follow through on the drop lists until you find HOME, click it and the start up page will appear.

If you require anything further, please do not hesitate to ask  :D

And above all else enjoy and have fun

Announce Your Software/Service/Product / Rainmeter 1.0 Now Available
« Last post by sgtevmckay on August 07, 2009, 03:53 AM »
A rather exciting development is coming for the desktop customizing world: with its first major update in over three years, Rainmeter is finally coming out of beta. And, among other things, it has a new Enigma upgrade built right in.

Among Rainmeter 1.0's numerous improvements:
- A built-in theme manager, RainThemes, to save and load your setups.
- Complete compatibility with Windows Vista and 7. (Your data is no longer stored in Program Files, which eliminates problems with UAC.)
- New visual options, such as text shadows, transformation matrices and improved anti-aliasing.
- Expanded plugin support for iTunes, WiFi and even Recycle Bin management.
- An official online forum at Rainmeter.net (http://www.rainmeter.net/forum/index.php) for support, discussion, third-party addons, tips and feature requests.

As for Enigma 2.5:
- Enigma is now the default skin for Rainmeter. It is available immediately after installing.
- No more code editing required: a new Configuration tool manages your personal settings, like Google account login, weather code and feed URLs, from a GUI interface.
- Sidebars and themes now scale to your screen resolution automatically.
- Reader skins now support RSS, Atom, Gmail inbox and Twitter.
- Music skin gets iTunes song information automatically; CD Art Display no longer required.
- Multiple new skins, including a miniature calendar, system uptime, wireless signal strength, and even your local sunrise/sunset times.
- Templates are now accessible from the theme manager.

Circle Dock / Re: Shortcuts don't work
« Last post by sgtevmckay on July 16, 2009, 06:40 PM »
I'm having the same problem.

Some of my programs work (Firefox, Sims 3), But some give me errors when I click them (PlanstVsZombies). But if I right click them and select "open" they run just fine.

I'm running Vista SP 1. I've tried running CD as administrator, and I tried setting the game as Run as Administrator. I've also tried making shortcuts on the desktop and dragging the .exe file straight from the game folder. Nothing seems to work. I'm hoping someone else has some ideas.

Welcome to DonationCoder.com and CircleDock's corner of it.

I have reported this bug in the past, and it seems to happen only with Games, and only on certain systems (None OS Specific).

I have forwarded this bug to the Developer, and I  hope he will respond with a fix soon.

Once again; Welcome  :D

First I want to welcome you to the DonationCoder.co Forums, and Circle DOck's corner of it  :D

It has been well over six months since the last communication from the original developer VideoInPicture (Eric Wong).

I had been losing hope, so I thank you for rekindling that hope again.

As CircleDock is open source, any one can pick up where Eric Left off, and modify as they see fit, as You have done.

As I am no programmer by any means, I thank you for tackling this task, in order to help move CircleDock forward.

I thank you  :-*

Apologies Panel for the lateness of this response.

I find that your are absolutely correct. Dock placement and appearance are controlled by the following:
I never gave it a second thought as I have my controls set to Window+Spacebar, and the Middle Mouse button.
I guess it became second nature, and I missed a lack of the click away option.

I will forward as a settings request in next months e-mail to VIP For a A timed disappearance (time set by user) and a click off option  :D
