General Software Discussion / Re: FolderCache 4.9.0.0

Thanks but I don't know what EAV is.

All these hotkey exes are either AHK or AutoIt3 which means the script is compiled into an .exe along with the interpreter engine. It's just so the user doesn't need AHK or AutoIt3 installed to run them.

For simple utilities I provide source but these have multiple include files that contain general purpose functions.  To keep that in sync is frankly not worth the effort.  If anyone doesn't trust the download then I suggest they use different utilities.

As it is I compile with UPX disabled to avoid false positives.  But that's about all I can do.

Edit: The only download site that I explicitly update is Softpedia.  Maybe you should take a look there to see what they use for virus scan. I've never had any reports from them of a bad scan.  There's so many scanners out there that there's always "one more scan" that tests something the others don't. So how can you prove a negative? It's not possible.

Run it in a sandbox that tracks registry and file changes if you don't trust it. That means a lot more than some signature scan.

Selector 2.8.0.0 Revised Tray Icon handling. Also in 2.7.0.0 a regression was fixed that could cause change of hotkey to fail silently in some cases.

Suppose you want to make a union. And decided to make a secret reunion of workers so that the company does not fire the ones in the meeting.  the company then knew that the meeting took place and where. Every atendant with an iPhone would be in danger of being fired (illegal, but companies can make any excuse to do so).

Not only that.  But imagine if your current location and habitual hang-outs were sold to process servers and bill collectors!

I remember Windows used to have big problems for file type associations. When you set something as the associated app for a file extension it just overwrote the entry. I can remember stuff like WinZip and UltimateZip fighting over the zip file extension.  Now I think Windows remembers the previous one so you can uninstall.

But I think it still has that same old default browser bug.

Somebody on this forum may know more about how the registry acts with default browser setting generally:

I'm using Chromium portable. Haven't noticed any anomalies. I also had a video player that messed up some stuff when uninstalled.  I like the player. I keep to the portable version.

Has anyone tried changing default browser before uninstalling? I think even on W7 default browser change has the same bug as back in win9x. Sometimes you have to set it to some other browser, then set it back to the one you really want.  Something like that.  Still not fixed after 16 years!

HomeFolder 1.6 has been updated to avoid redundant Tray Icon double-clicks and tray menu commands without resorting to hiding the icon.  This avoids the unpleasant side effect of icons moving around in the tray.

It's hitting a low point.  Now when I try to Send an email from hotmail, it wants me to identify a Captcha!! And I'm already logged into the thing!

Why don't we just have thumb print and get it over with instead of this annoying crap?

Do a retinal eye scan. Just don't ask to me guess what some garbled crap spells!

Again on gotd, which is why I found this thread.  If it's a macro deal it's not for me.  Thought it might be something like a vLite with application scripting installer on top of the OS.  But for me it's just a matter of curiosity. I don't really have a use for it.

Out of curiosity, could you see the methodology?  I would think something that big would have to use some type of merge sort.  Esp. if you only have one disk that would be thrash city.

ReRun 1.2 Set double click Tray Icon to open the gui. This keeps the mouse near the system tray to make it more convenient if the window is located in that corner.

Reaching for F9 then clicking with the mouse is more awkward than just using the mouse.

ReRun 1.0  ReRun is yet another simple Tray Hotkey. It's designed to be run at Windows Startup. It watches the active window. If it finds an exe, it gets the path and icon.  When you hit the Hotkey(default is F9 function key) it pops up a Gui with 10 Buttons.  The List of apps is MRU starting at the left hand side.

The idea is if you close a program, then want to open it again, press the Hotkey and it should be near the start of the list.

I recommend starting with Windows since program items are not saved between runs. If you run ReRun and pop it up right away, chances are the list may be empty.  For programs you run constantly other launch methods are preferable.  This is just an OOPS hotkey to ReRun something closed inadvertently.

I have ReOpen but I wanted something that displayed the icons instead of just text.
Which reminds me, active Buttons show the program name in a Tooltip if you hover the mouse.

Free for you to use at your own risk.

For now I'll attach the latest version here.  If no big bugs are found I'll upload to the web page.

Edit: may be downloaded now from:

I have a simplistic one I did several years ago.  Topmost Toggle.  Control right clicking the mouse on the active window toggles the OnTop attribute and pops up a dialog to tell the current state. It doesn't otherwise change anything on the window frame or mess with controls.  You can download from my hotkey page:

http://www.favessoft.com/hotkeys.html

It's free for you to use at your own risk.

My Epson Stylus C66 probably would have lasted another 3 years except I made the mistake of putting a few of those business card blanks through it. Messed up the paper handling mechanism.

The one thing I didn't like is it had a black cartridge and a triple color. One color goes dry you toss the whole cartridge.  Stylus C-88 has individual cartridges for each color and only uses 4 cartridges total. It's a cheap way to go and I rarely do any photo images anyway. The thrill of printing album cover art is gone.  Uses way too much ink. :)

Starting at $6,050.00?

I hope it's as least "buy one get one free" or get the second one for a penny.

Yeah honestly i don't know what a normal person can do other than whine and always look for ways to undermine and hack the system.

I've got the whining down.  Hacking seems too much like work.
