General Software Discussion / Re: Someone MUST make a new PowerMarks program.
« Last post by superboyac on October 14, 2008, 12:51 PM »Thanks Patteo, your info here so far has been great.
Yes, I did, thanks. Being able to export a bunch of selected items is very useful, especially when I need to send a report or something to someone. You just export to html and email the file.Yeah, I checked that, but it doesn't work for me. I mean, it doesn't show the html pane content.-superboyac (October 06, 2008, 01:20 PM)
Did you get it to work correctly?-PPLandry (October 10, 2008, 01:43 PM)
A question for reviewer (or anyone else who knows):I don't quite understand the question you are asking. What do you mean by "track current tasks"? And what is "Today/SMB"? Please explain.
I am evaluating MLO for a Pocket PC and I am rather confused about how am I to track the current tasks.
I hoped there would be some kind of Today/SMB Shell plugin that integrates and shows them. But now it seems that I have to load the app for that? Seems rather annoying too as the application is relatively heavy to load-vitalyb (October 07, 2008, 03:40 AM)
@superboyac,Here's the screenshot:
Can you give a screenshot of your settings? Like Tomos said, it works fine...-PPLandry (October 06, 2008, 01:41 PM)
The usercode (now called VBScript editor) is now divided into 3 sections:I see, that's very useful the way you've organized the code.
1- system code : supplied with the software
2- user code : your code, common to all databases
3- database code: code specific to a given database
The priority is: 3 superceeds 2 which superceeds 1 (that is, if you have the same function name in user code and database code, the database code will run)
As your transcript grid is part of the sample database, I've also put it in System code (1) for now. When release time comes, it will most likely be moved to database code, where IMO it belongs really.
BTW, I'm now full-time on the calendar, a subject that you know quite a bit about... IYO is CalendarScope still the goal?-PPLandry (October 05, 2008, 08:18 PM)
It will be added in 7.x.Yeah baby! (does a little dance).-Outertech Support (September 27, 2008, 07:21 PM)
No, I have not claimed that it's not possible to add a toolbar to Firefox. I've just said that is very complicated to offer the same functionality that the IE toolbar has. The reason for this is the Linux compatibility of Firefox. AFAIK it does not allow any DCOM servers (which the Linkman IE Toolbar is). 7.x will offer a Firefox toolbar in the future. It's not like we are not doing anything, Linkman has received 3 major updates in this year alone.I see. I don't really know what you are talking about with the technical stuff, but I'm glad to hear it's not impossible. So, do you think it will be possible to add the three buttons to the toolbar like Powermarks used to have? It doesn't seem very complicated...one button opens the main menu, another adds the current page to the bookmark and fills in all the fields as usual, the other "silently" adds the bookmark, meaning there's no confirmation dialog. Couldn't this be done easily?-Outertech Support (September 26, 2008, 10:33 AM)
love the MLO text:Ha, yeah. Don't you ever do that? Organize your tasks in a list or something and then realize you're not quite as busy and important as you think you are? I use MLO at work and it's true that it's pretty full. But I tried it at home to keep track of home chores (paying bills, cleaning, etc.). THen I looked at it and I was like, this is silly. I was using it as a way to avoid work. Just go do the laundry, dammit!
This is a very useful program for you busybodies out there.
I’m not very busy myself, but I pretend to be with this program.-tomos (September 24, 2008, 04:03 AM)
is the list going to be sorted in some way ? (alphabetical/other?)As for categories:
or grouped for that matter ?-tomos (September 24, 2008, 02:42 AM)
Also some alternatives listed for the software would be a great little addition. Something like mouser lists in the help files for his apps.Great idea. I don't know if I will do this because it's more work (sorry). I've had a hard time (ask mouser) coming up with ways to contribute effectively to this site because my time is so limited. I'll list alternatives (like I do in the Super FLexible review) if it just comes to me naturally. But I don't want to spend a lot of time coming up with a list. My hope is that when you see my recommendation, you try the software out, and it satisfies your needs and you won't need an alternative.-TucknDar (September 24, 2008, 06:08 AM)
Oh that sucks.I definitely did not appreciate that comment. I understand what you are saying. But my list is sort of a "thank you" to DC members, and you just can't say that. Even though I don't write the details, I put a lot of thought and experience into what appears in that list. I can talk for pages about exactly what I like about each and every one of those programs, I just don't have the time to write it all out. This forum here is very special, and there's a lot of trust between the members. Don't devalue the importance of that trust.
Additionally, in Powermarks, if you pressed the down key from the search box, it would immediately go into the list and you could navigate to the desired bookmark. This was good for quick keyboard navigation. I always wished that if you pressed the UP key from the top item, it would go back to the search box, but it didn't. This is where Power Favorites can improve on that feature.
By the way i really like your new website design/theme.Thanks! I do too. The designer's name is Justin Tadlock, and he's been very helpful to me for this wordpress stuff.-mouser (September 23, 2008, 03:10 AM)
