Looks good, ak_ My wife's family are Korean and don't speak/read much English: this will help in making video more accessible to them.

PS What do you use for regex searches (just curious)?

+1 for me too. I like your idea, too, Perry, but I agree with mouser. Renegade's is the best solution - still "ripe" for exploitation but at least anyone unethical to do so is going to have to write a thorough review of an app to get it posted. My guess is anyone tempted will be put off by the effort involved and move on...

Cool! I'll be checking out GenePro myself - a bit of a no-brainer, isn't it? Assuming it does the job, of course...

That's great news, Ken. A fixed date and now you can organize your life and prepare for it (the surgery) and life afterward.

Funny in german the word "scheiße" (scheisse) is quite acceptable whereas in english not so much..

Yes - same in Korean "doh-ng" and "doh-ng-shim" (my transliteration skills are negligible) are
terms used by everyone from toddlers to the senile and everyone in between... Doh-ng = excrement and Doh-ng shim its point of egress from the body  :D

"Feck" it is not in general usage, at least in my part of NA. Similarly, "shag" is only used to describe the pile in a carpet or the state of someone's hair (The "Shaggy" DA, for example). Snog, to my knowledge (I know, off topic now) isn't even in our vocabularly - I was scrambling for it's meaning when my Welsh cousin mentioned someone trying to "snog" her at a party.

Thanks for the tip, mitzevo. I'm always happy to learn about keyboard shortcuts.

Sadly, the wiki is still slow to load (though quicker than it was in May...).

No - it's down here, too...

Maybe they will stop sending paper copies and email them to the iPhone instead (it will only cost you $50 to collect your bill each time).

Brilliant!

I quite like "cinders and ash" from Thomas the Tank Engine. Then there's the old standby "fudge and bannna peels". Sadly, I use neither. I don't know what comes out of my mouth in polite company, or rather, I never know what will come out of my mouth in polite company... I improvise. Castor and pollux is nice, though - I might use it!

General Software Discussion / Re: What do you think of PCTools' Spyware Doctor?
« Last post by Darwin on August 17, 2007, 09:31 AM »
For those gentle readers who are interested, I've made an impassioned and eloquent post on this subject on the shitware forums. My artistic goal was similar to John Lennon's vision for the Get Back/Let It Be project - the artist with his pants down (now there's a graphic for you). Please note that you must be 18 or older to view the content of the posting  as I took the forum rule to heart:

Posts without excessive profanity may be deleted.

:o.

I feel much better now.

Right. I've written to customer support demanding a refund and await their response (there is NO information about refunds on Lavasoft's website - not encouraging). Sorry, for hijacking this thread, Curt  :-[

Yes - I should have known about Ad-Watch. I had not trouble with it in version 6, but when they went to SE it was rendered useless and it doesn't look like they've managed to remedy the situation (people were hollering for a solution to Ad-Watch SE right from the time SE was released through the release of 2007). The upgrade was cheap so I went for the Pro version again. Maybe I should have gone with an entirely different product. I wanted something that featured real-time scanning and automatic updates so that I could sleep a bit easier - my wife and her friends and family spend most of their time on Korean websites. Not to slander the good reputation of a fine country and its people, but the amount of spyware and crap that gets loaded in the course of an evening of reading Korean newspapers and viewing mainstream Korean televison online is staggering. I know my wife is not going to bother checking for and downloading updates daily and she is unlikely to remember to run her anti-spyware application, so... That said, courtesy of Ad-Watch SE's drunken behaviour I've been manually scanning her computer whenever I get on it for over a year anyway...

Nice find Curt - it's free and comes with real-time protection. I like to add Spyware Blaster to my defenses. The free version is fine (Pro version simply downloads and installs updates automatically) and is an extra layer on top of whatever else you happen to be using.

Anyone have any comments on Microsoft's antispyware app - Windows Defender? It's been getting generally good reviews lately...

KenR - Where Is It is great - just tried it and think I might buy it instead of SoftCat...

If you're used to entering the infor manuallly in SoftCat Plus free version anyway, you can't go wrong. Where Is It? comes with a lifetime licence, too

I'm still seduced by the IDEA of SoftCat Plus though... I'd love to be able to scan my computer - file structure and registry - and generate a database with everything filled in for me, including my registration details (I note from the demo that with SoftCat Plus you still have to do this manually).

I never let Windows update install patches for my non-MS hardware. Doing so in the past has led to disabled audio and on a different occasion an inoperative mouse.

I have a Add-Aware 2007 Plus license, but doesn't even have the program installed, because it was too annoying.

I keep dithering about asking for a refund (yes, it's that bad). I should spend some time raising Cain on their support forums at the very least. My voice would be like a drop of water in an ocean though - everyone is complaining!
