hello!

My projects often need a flowchart, a timeline chart, addition of comments, addition of discussion, email alerts, file sharing, etc

We use sharepoint, which is supposedly very powerful, but the main problem I see with it is that there is not a single page to display the projects and edit it or have a discussion about each of its steps

you have to download the file, view it, and edit it, and then upload it, which is very cumbersome

isn't there a platform where it will have all the possible features and it will be web-based, not having to open locally files?

guys, I have that MS Gantt chart....
and I specify a start date 18/05/2015
then I specify 1wk as duration
and it fills automatically 28/05/2015!
and I correct it manually to 22/05/2015
and it automatically makes the 1wk to 0.3wk!!
and whatever I correct, I cannot fix it!
isn't this a badly designed program?

I think I found a solution!
to the problem of having an htm file that when you open it, it will visit a webpage!

that htm file should have the command to REDIRECT to an url!
is this good solution? how can I do it? what is the htm code for it?

hello

Is it possible to edit one of the layouts in Powerpoint? I want to have a layout that will be as the 'picture with caption' BUT with a title also at the top!
and then I want to convert a bunch of slides I have to that layout (which can be done just by selecting the slides and clicking that layout)

any idea?

Yes, I don't disagree with that.
The problem is that I cannot upload .url files to my sharepoint site.
That's why I need another type of file that when I click it, it will transfer me to the relevant webpage
and htm file maybe?

I'd have thought that .url work as assumed as well *Shrug*

But here's an odd bit. I dragged the icon from the IE address bar for this page to the desktop, and it created a shortcut, and then opened it in notepad.

Now after poking at the properties dialog a bit I found that the file has a (hidden reguardless) file extension of .website (Windows 8.1 OS). If I create a new file in Notepad (with the above contents), and save it as a .website file (the extension disappears, but...) it works as assumed/desired.

If the admin(s) closed off access to the command-line, he/she/they should definitely have closed down PowerShell. The latter is much more powerful.

but renaming .url to .htm doesn't go to the website unfortunately (I thought it did because I didn't realize it actually renamed to .htm.url)
so what should an htm file contain in order to visit an url?

so I saved manually all the shortcuts of the files in desktop, by dragging them, they appear not to have an extension but I figured out they have the extension .url

unfortunately, my sharepoint admin has blocked uploading of .url files, but I can upload .htm files

I figured out that opening the .url file with notepad, and saving the exact text as .htm file, it works! ie. it goes to the target url, plus it is allowed to be uploaded at my sharepoint

my problem is now to do this in batch: to convert the .url files into .htm files
unfortunately, a simple rename wont work: it produces a .htm.url file

is there a solution to this?

maybe in batch, copy the text of .url files and save it as .htm file?

it's not strictly about sharepoint

it's about grabing urls and make them files

I figured out that it's fairly easy

you just drag a link to your desktop

but it doesn't work for many links, because you cannot select many links at once

that's why I just need to convert a list of urls into desktop shortcuts to those urls in batch!

thank's that is a good article, BUT
I think there is a simpler way

I right clicked on a sharepoint file/folder and clicked 'copy shortcut'
then I pasted on my desktop and it created a shortcut!
these shortcut files is what I need!
I can then upload them to my sharepoint site!

is there a way to create these files at once, in batch, and not one by one?

it's not about sharepoint, it's basically about how to upload in a website a file that goes to a linked file basically!
