http://www.avsoft.nl...ows-media-player.htm is the last known address for the perfect program for you, but the homepage is closed - and 'gone' took my copy.

... find a program to copy the music files in my daughters Windows Media Player 10 playlist (.wpl file) to another directory while maintaining the original folder structure.  AV Media Copy from www.avsoft.nl does something similar ...

-excellent program!

It hasn't been updated for more than five years, (yes, this is a very old thread), but I had no problem at all, installing and using it on Vista. The GUI is logic, the procedure easy, and the copying is fast. Of course it can handle several playlist file types, including M3U playlists, not just WPL. The organization of the new folders were not important to me, so I just unchecked that option, and all 372 files from my playlist were soon gathered in a new folder.

(...)", but I think the little free program in mention, AV Media Copy, is worth knowing about in general - more people than JeffK and me must sometimes want to copy a playlist's content, the actual music files, to another location without burning anything:
-Curt

a better link: http://www.avsoft.nl/index.php/wmp/av-media-copy-for-windows-media-player.htm
The msi installation file is merely 428 Kb

This little program made my day. Thanks for telling, JeffK
One micro detail: The folder order is of course not AlbumArtist\Artist, but AlbumArtist\Album

I have just used AV Media Copy to update the above mentioned collection, using the same long playlist. The program didn't protest or ask silly questions, it just skipped the already existing files and copied the two new files into the folder. Yes, AV Media Copy is old, and it has extremely few features, but they work.

@n8wachT. AV Media Copy is no longer to be found, except if someone has kept a copy, but it might very well be the one you're asking for. Unfortunately the name itself makes it impossible to search for.

I now remember one more weakness: .NET Framework version 1.1 is needed.

..., all the MS culprits are back:
Blackbird does not currently support Redstone builds.
-blackbird 0.9.95
So, @Blackbird Dev, will there be the needed update?

Working on it daily. I'd say a week until release if everything goes as planned.

As an example, my PC just updated:
Windows 10 Version 1607 (KB3194798)
That is the anniversary update.

I realize I should have searched for a build number:

Windows 10 Pro, Version 1607, Build 14393.321
508
How quick / slow is an update to spread around the world?

As an example, my PC just updated:

Windows 10 Version 1607 (KB3194798)

but I am wondering, if 1607 is old news or new news?

General Software Discussion / Re: ResizeEnable for windows 8.1
« Last post by Curt on October 10, 2016, 04:00 PM »
they can resize windows, but they have no window resizer.

The Resize state is turned on as soon as you start resizing a window with the mouse pointer opposing arrows cursor; i.e., hover the pointer over the border of the window until it turns into opposing arrows, then left-click on the window's border and (keeping the mouse button depressed) drag the border to its new size. Another way to resize a window is to activate its system menu and select there the Size command, then use the arrow keys to resize the window - finally pressing <Enter> to keep the selected size or <Esc> to cancel the changes. When you release the left mouse button or press one of the above-mentioned keys, Resize state is turned off. Actual Tools programs can automatically execute the following actions while resizing a window:

Aero Snap - toggle the Aero Snap sizing effects.
Make Transparent - set the specified transparency level. The previous transparency level will be restored when the Resize operation is completed.
Restrict Placement - deny resizing a window so it goes beyond the defined limits.
Snap - place the dragged window's border with no gaps to desktop borders and other windows.

As a not so funny fact, my task manager has a window resizer included. But it's a $50 task manager, not a window resizer...

Closing an application / a program on a smartphone:

How to close an app in Windows 8

Closing Windows:

I have found nothing for windows 8.1 safe.

By default, Windows 8.1 should be configured to start up and shutdown fast (you can confirm Fast Startup\Shutdown is enabled by scrolling down the System Settings box) but if it’s still not shutting down to your standards you can do a few things:

The fastest way to shutdown your computer, without pulling the plug, is to press the Windows Key + r and type: shutdown /s /t 0

- it's easy to make such a hotkey combination part of a shortcut:

Right click the desktop and go to New and choose Shortcut.

Enter this: C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 0

The “/s” thing tells Windows to shutdown and the “/t” says wait 0 seconds in time to do it. In other words, do it now!

https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=10467.0

Just create a shortcut to force shutdown and your problem should be solved.

Modified:
Sorry, Contro, Now I have tried it myself on Win_10: The method will of course close Windows all right, but \sometimes/ it didn't work with my Firefox, so there may easily be others it doesn't work with. :-(

questions questions

Do you know that feeling: You've read the beginning of a story, but then it wasn't finished. And now you're sitting there wondering, what happened next? This is how I have it with the following three stories:

The first story is scattered all over the thread, but you can easily find it in the "Show Posts" for our member JennyB:
https://www.donation...ea=showposts;u=55110

Here's mine. Not exactly kick-ass, but it does me!  :-*

[ Invalid Attachment ]

JennyB, you inherited your mom's big house, but were afraid time & maintenance would eat the worth.
So, how did it all go? Did you leave it all  and biked out of Ulster, or such?

-------------

Sorry but I didn't realise your life was so grim ...
Therapy needed - we have to get you out of that closet!  :-* :-* :-*
-Carol Haynes (July 09, 2008, 08:22 PM)
Here's a great idea. Sometimes the best therapy is to get busy! Check out the following for a "terrific" DIY home office project:
http://ca.youtube.co.../watch?v=xP3xiLKJ9_4

already I'm eager to watch such a video. Then a couple of people also spoke warmly about it: "LoL 40hz! That's a cool video!" "funny and... "educational" as ever"

Only, it isn't there! Not to me, anyway.
Please?

---------------

I have a new desk arriving soon, and it will take about 10 hrs of work to put it together. And I am going to have to dismantle and dispose of the old desk.
When all that is complete and I have everything all set up, new pics will be uploaded.  :D

In my head the desktop was too big for the door; so it never arrived the room. Thinking about it, this story is quite old, so maybe she forgot the pictures in the photographic developer fluid?
Any way, I'm curious to see that new desktop!

But it's not the next one (that one belongs to JennyB). I have tried to "Modify message", but still I don't understand why Jenny's picture is displayed twice!?

Inquiry was last updated February 28, 2015, so Windows 8.1 really should be supported (8.1 came on April 8, 2014). Other than that, yes, The company is alive - their Offline Explorer was updated just two weeks ago - but Inquiry is obviously no longer being maintained. One may want to know why it then is available in their cart? The answer is, because it >"can be installed and used without limiting its features for 30 days. If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, we offer a 30 days money back guarantee after your purchase."< But not after 10 years.

"Vanilla = having no special or extra features; ordinary or standard"

Is anyone here really happy with vanilla Windows 10?

^You know what, I have NEVER thought of that question before!

Is not half The Meaning Of Life, to look for addons and extensions for your computer? Well, is not the very purpose of DonationCoder's forum to debate, create and refine such applications? Then, Happy us! In such an alienated world, where people suffer from loneliness and isolation: We have an operating system that makes it easy to find someone else with the same problem as we ourselves have. Wow! Hurrah for vanilla Windows 10! It has been making me so many friends from all over the world. Thank you, Microsoft!

Hourglass, The simple countdown timer for Windows, Freeware, version 1.5.0, Last updated Jun 29, 2016
https://chris.dziemborowicz.com/apps/hourglass/

The genius is that if you want to time 8 minutes, you just have to type that one digit, 8, and press Enter, and voila!

9ad2fb8a.png
I’m Chris Dziemborowicz, a software engineer in Redmond, Washington. The Orzeszek name of this site derives from the Polish language and was in the past intended to maintain my pseudonymity. It’s also an inter-lingual pun: orzeszek n [IPA: ɔʐɛʂɛ̃k] — a small, hard-shelled, dry seed or fruit of some plants : diminutive of nut.
-About Orzeszek

You will not guess how many words they can use to describe such a microscopic application and at the same time be straight to the point, without using unnecessary words! I am impressed that such a lightweight program can be so versatile. For the sake of "space" I have hidden most of their words behind the spoiler, but here are just a few words about the main features:

What happened to Orzeszek Timer?
Orzeszek Timer is still available on the Orzeszek Development site.

and on top of it all, this is freeware!

So, are there no problems?
Unfortunale, there is an item! VirusTotal: 3 out of 57 antivirus programs have marked the installer as a Trojan - Jiangmin, NANO Antivirus and Yandex -but of course this means that 54 out of 57 antivirus programs are saying it is clean... 68 out of 68 scanners have reported the site as Clean, and I am running the program and has not seen any problems of any kind - except that my desktop version of Agnitum Outpost Security Suite Pro also said the installer was a Trojan. But I am running the program any way.

Should this thread be updated? Newest version is 8.5!

Is FreeFileSync adware or donationware?  8)

New:    Donate and >get the FreeFileSync installer< without advertisements as a thank-you
including future FreeFileSync updates
!

Even though I never have tested the program, I made a minor donation ($5), and got this message:

Download FreeFileSync
As a token of appreciation for your donation, please find a version of the FreeFileSync Windows installer without any advertisements below.

Finished Programs / Re: DONE: Right Click any file and create New Folder by its Name
« Last post by Curt on October 02, 2016, 11:50 AM »
Files 2 Folder is quite advanced, compared to the solution used in FileMenu Tools. However, most times that I use this particular feature, I will have to type the new folder name myself. For this reason I eventually stopped using Files 2 Folder, and settled with the simpler Pack to Folder in LopeSoft's FileMenu Tools - which I always have installed anyway.

Found Deals and Discounts / Re: [free] Paste As File giveaway

A couple of times I have purchased a key for Paste As File. So obviouslly I think it's good. Some guy named jmjsquared thinks the same:

I’ve been a constant user of PasteAsFIle since 2012 (when it still was freeware) and ALWAYS make it one of the first applications I install on my Windows machines. When I truly understood what it is and, correspondingly, what it is not, I found it to be a really convenient, almost indispensable addition to Windows Explorer. So did Martin Brinkman: http://www.ghacks.ne...in-windows-explorer/

For me, the single most useful feature is PAF’s ability to “accurately” reproduce most HTML pages. For example, I want to preserve two reviews preceding my own and put them in the same folder in which today’s freebie’s installer is saved. With PAF, I can simply highlight/select the desired text and images (in this case, Dennis Nelson’s and Melvin Sync’s avatars) and copy same to my clipboard. The result can then be pasted in any folder in a host of formats, including HTML — with all text, images, hyper-links and formatting preserved, usually extremely accurately if not perfectly.

I find PAF indispensable for “clipping” articles from the dozens of online magazines, blogs, newspapers, etc., that I read daily. If you follow the recommendation of the publisher and also choose to install Nirsofer’s >NirCMD<, you make this process even easier.

I find the documentation and help resources are more than adequate in getting the most from this really cool application.

My only complaint is that (perhaps since I also have another clipboard utility, Ditto, running in the background) PasteAsFile will sometimes paste HTML as coded text, rather than the web-display I intended. However, simply re-pasting the contents of the clipboard usually clears the glitch.

I highly recommend giving this neat, little application a thorough workout.

from Cloq:

How do I remove ads from KMplayer and how to disable box in kmplayer Disable Advertising Sidebar In Kmplayer.

If you installed the new version of Kmplayer (3.7). Without any disable option, you should see a advertisement (ads) slide panel in right side & even in the full screen view.

Although they said this player is free, It seems likes developers of the Kmplayer are going to make some money now. this is called "Adware".

This ads panel appears only when you connected to the internet. So if you want to to remove / disable advertising sidebar in Kmplayer you should disable internet accessing by the Kmplayer software.

to disable internet access by kmplayer

In Windows computers,

Method 1 (easy)

Go to internet explorer Internet options (on Internet Properties window) Security tab click on Restricted site click (button below) sites add this URL on that box player.kmpmedia.net
& Close.

Method 1 (for Pros)

Open 'host' file in windows

c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/host

add

127.0.0.1 player.kmpmedia.net

Using one of above methods you can prevent the kmplayer to connect to the internet and no sidebar will appear!

And,
if you don't know how to do this, you can use version like Use KMPlayer 3.6.0.87.exe witch was comes with ads free.

player.kmpmedia.net
