if you want to get the install date and the current running time, then open a command prompt, and type in systeminfo

It would be cool if when you push the button it would simulate blowing up your screen and then instantly turn off the computer. Then you could plug it into someone's computer when they are away, and then when they come back, hold it up and say "Piss me off, and your computer is toast!"

Haven't watched all of it yet (still downloading), but what I have watched is pretty cool. I would like to take a picture or two with that lens and just experiment with it to see what I could get it to do.

Sign up on the free porn sites like tinjaw said, and then goto a crap load of message boards and post your email in plain text like hamradio said. Then just sit back and hope your anti spam programs work, because your about to get more spam than Hormel can produce in a week.

well if you look at the part where the "ghost car" disappears into thin air, and then re-appears, look at that point very carefully. Notice before the car appears, there aren't very many white lights, and then when the car does re appear, a bunch of white lights appear with him...

You can't really figure out what happens because the cameraman has bad camera skills, so Darwin's idea about no fence at the right, that is a possibility, and being that it was dark, the police might have thought he went through the fence, and so they put the camera where they thought he went.

Put this image on the left monitor, and this image on the right monitor, and then put the default icons, firefox and thunderbird icons on my desktop with the silver xp taskbar autohiding, and you will have my freshly installed windows desktop.

you know, that may be it, and yes, I am using FF, who still uses IE? If you look at the screen shot, it was taken in FF.

As some of you know, I have just reinstalled windows (with activation problems, but windows gave up and let me activate, go figure), and I was going to download directx, and on the page where you download the wga plugin crap on M$'s site, the download save box was that of FF, not IE... when did M$ start using FF instead of IE?

I just reinstalled windows, and replaced my wpa.dbl file, but it didn't do anything. >:( I still have to activate windows, but I can't, because I have already activated it to many times, and I can't talk to the Microsoft tech support, because I can't understand what the Japanese person is saying.

edit: ...ok, I don't know what I did, but now it let me activate windows, so now I think I have it working... I wish I knew what I did to get it to work so that I can do it again next time I re-install windows
514
I think I may end up using the quick launch a lot more, before I was putting folders in the start menu, and organizing my stuff that way, with the quick launch, I can just drag the stuff in it, and get to it better.

General Software Discussion / Re: In need of "desktop icon folders"
« Last post by nite_monkey on September 28, 2007, 07:10 AM »
I downloaded powerpro, and I will try it out when I re-install windows today or tomorrow, it sounds like it may do something like I want.

@tableguy, moving the folder to the quicklaunch area is similar to what I was wanting to do. I wanted to put the icons into folders, and then have a program to when ever I left click (or middle click, which ever) the icons would move out of the folder onto the desktop, and then when I click the folder again, the icons would go back into the folder.

not sure exactly how QT Tabbar does what I am wanting, though it is cool to have tabs in the explorer, and the AveDesk kind of looks like an idea, not sure, I would have to download it to see if it fits my needs.

;D I guess that works for a title... anyways, as I mentioned in this topic, I am reinstalling windows this weekend, and I was hoping that someone knew of a program (hopefully freeware) that you could organize your desktop icons by putting them into folders or something, and then you have those folders on your desktop, and when you click on the folder, it would show the icons in that folder on the desktop in a grid view, and when you click on the folder again, the icons would hide back inside the folder... Is that confusing?

I hope that clears things up a tad, I would really like to use this for my icons if anyone knows of a program that does this.

yeah, I don't reinstall xp much either, only when my system gets to cluttered, and I can't find much, because of all the stuff I am to lazy to remove. Plus fresh installs just run a whole lot smoother.

I will have to I guess see what I end up doing with this information in mind, if anyone has any other ideas, let me know before Friday or Saturday.

Living Room / Requesting new organization ideas for fresh windows installation
« Last post by nite_monkey on September 27, 2007, 07:06 AM »
So I plan on reinstalling windows this weekend, and I was wanting to find a new method of organizing my computer.

Currently~
I install everything in the default location.
I stick all my files on the desktop, my documents, or shared documents.
For my icons, I was putting them into organized folders in the start menu (games in a folder labeled games, tools in a folder labeled tools, etc), but then I got lazy, and just left them on the desktop, and never moved them.

what I plan to do~
I was thinking of putting everything into organized folders:
I would put all games in C:/games, all tools in C:/tools, etc.
not sure what to do about my icons.

I was hoping someone could give me some really cool ways to organize my new installation when I re-install windows this weekend.
If you know of any freeware organization programs, I would like that, the only way I would want shareware programs, is if the program was very good.
I was kind of thinking of putting Pstart on my computer, when I first install windows, and put a shortcut to all my programs in that as soon as I install them, but I would probably end up getting lazy, and stop doing that, just like with my icons.
Any help would be very appreciated, please and thank you.

You're a Doer.
You are very quick at getting tasks done. You believe the outcome is the most important part of a task and the faster you can reach that outcome the better. After all, time is money.

You like coding at a Low level.
You're from the old school of programming and believe that you should have an intimate relationship with the computer. You don't mind juggling registers around and spending hours getting a 5% performance increase in an algorithm.

You work best in a Team.
A good group is better than the sum of it's parts. The only thing better than a genius programmer is a cohesive group of genius programmers.

You are a Conservative programmer.
The less code you write, the less chance there is of it containing a bug. You write short and to the point code that gets the job done efficiently.

General Software Discussion / record sound from multiple sound cards?
« Last post by nite_monkey on September 13, 2007, 04:01 PM »
I would like to be able to record from both my on board sound card, and from the mic on my webcam, because my webcam mic is better then my other mic, but I can only record from my soundcard, or my mic, not both, so I was wondering if anyone knew of a program (preferably freeware) that would let me record from both at the same time.

Yet another reason microshit sucks. I've been running linux and windows back and forth while I learn to use linux better, so as soon as I learn it better, I will completely abandon windows and just use linux.
