^ I was hoping AS would capture system tray notifications?
Currently it doesnt capture them (my query was if changing the options could change that)

I think it works more with windows (?)
I was also hoping it would capture small-er dialogue boxes such as error messages, and, e.g.

The Moon again...
I took this pic two nights ago:

Screenshot - 2019-07-18 , 11_17_50_ver001.jpg

It looked a bit odd but I didnt think any more about it till I saw this the following night:

turns out there was an eclipse on the night of the 16/17th (visible here but apparently not in the States)

Still mainly using Pale Moon, but struggling:

pros:
tabmixplus & Session Manager extensions work -- these two have always been the most important add-ons to me, cant understand why decent versions not implemented for most (all?) other browsers.

cons:
Paypal wasnt working for a good while (may be now -- see next though); LastPass in PaleMoon wont work with Microsoft Authenticator on Android -- even though it used work happily with same on Windows phone (this does work okay in Firefox).

There's something very meditative about these videos:
below is #18 in a series about an aquarium without filter/CO2/fertilizer.
Occasional moments of drama (Loomster, who you see in this video -- his parents started fighting and had to be put in separate tanks in the previous video...)

« Last post by tomos on July 03, 2019, 04:58 PM »
I've tried disabling all my addons, but that doesn't make a difference.
I know you say the above, here my experience:

Just after updating Firefox (from a recent version, but not sure which) to 67.0.4 - it's unable to connect to any sites.
FF has not been my default browser -- I only have a few addons installed, when I disable them, it works. Let's see:
when I enable uBlock Origin, Firefox is broken...

I've been trying it (beta) for about two weeks.
Is working well (on windows 7) but I didnt feel qualified to comment about changes made as I hadnt used it prior to that in a long time.

An option that might be of interest:
the G7 also has one button navigation, not sure how it works, you could let is know if you try it.

Affinity Publisher is finally here!

After completing our biggest public beta ever, we officially launched this next-generation publishing software last night during our latest Affinity Live event.
[email protected]

Engineered with the same no-compromise vision as our award-winning photo editing and graphic design apps, thousands of global professionals have contributed to the development of Affinity Publisher to meet the demands of the 21st century designer.

From magazines, books, brochures, posters, reports and stationery to other creations, this incredibly smooth, intuitive app gives you the power to combine your images, graphics and text to make beautiful layouts ready for publication.

What can I look forward to?

With essentials like master pages, facing page spreads, grids, tables, advanced typography, text flow, full professional print output, dynamic photo frames and other amazing features, the app comes fully loaded with everything you need to create the perfect layout – whatever your project.

Its blistering performance is another thing that really sets it apart. As you move, align and adjust your layouts, everything happens in real-time, so you always see an instant preview of the result. The refreshing lack of unnecessary or obsolete features also means it runs like a dream, even on the most content-heavy documents.

Visit our website to learn even more.

Complete integration with other Affinity apps

One of the most exciting things we announced last night was Affinity Publisher’s unique StudioLink feature, which gives you the ability to directly link to your other Affinity apps.

The first technology of its kind, StudioLink takes the pain out of publishing by allowing you to instantly switch to the advanced photo editing features of Affinity Photo and precise vector tools of Affinity Designer without ever leaving the app. It’s the most fluid workflow ever conceived in a creative suite of applications and something that could completely revolutionise the way you work.

Watch our MD Ash Hewson explain more about StudioLink in last night’s keynote here. (https://serif.us8.li...e89&e=f9717544bb)

To celebrate the launch, we are running a 20% off limited time discount, meaning you can buy Affinity Publisher for a one-off payment of 43,99 € (SRP 54,99 €).

Just like our other apps, there is no subscription required. Pay the one-time fee and enjoy creating on the app with free updates until version 2!

And that’s not all…

As part of the launch deal, we’re also including a bonus font collection containing five stylish fonts created by RetroSupply Co., worth 75 €.

This special offer ends soon so don’t miss out.

Kano unveils its first build-it-yourself Windows 10 computer

Looks great.
Pity only Windows "S".
The Kano PC, meanwhile, runs Windows 10 in "S Mode," a streamlined version that leans on Microsoft Edge and only allows apps from the Microsoft Store.

Doesn't seem to show Picasa's name tags.
Well, it only says it supports EXIF, IPTC and XMP, which as I understand it are all established standards.  You could ask the author about adding Picasa - but he might not be interested in a proprietary program that's been abandoned.  Speaking of which, Google at one point owned the Nik collection, and offered them free of cost.  They're now owned by DxO, who are charging for them again, and at more than a casual impulse purchase price.  Maybe Google should sell Picasa on to someone else, but really, the market for digital imaging software must be pretty saturated
turns out the name-tags (via Picasa) *are* in the XMP data, but the XMP tab is completely blank for some of the photos. Will try check tomorrow what is going on with them, and where the problem lies...

QuickImageComment:
QuickImageComment displays EXIF, IPTC, and XMP properties of digital images (e.g. JPEG and TIFF) and allows to edit them. Especially editing of user comment and artist (author) is supported by using the last entered or predefined values. These attributes are read from the EXIF, IPTC, and XMP properties of the image and are stored there.

Overview of features are:

The program displays all EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties, as well as some other file properties such as modification date.
In addition to the full lists of EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties a list of properties is displayed, which is configurable.
In addition to user comment and artist further EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties can be changed. The list of modifiable properties can be configured.
Data templates can be defined to set several properties in one step.
Via placeholder it is possible to copy values of properties in others.
Changes can be carried out simultaneously for two or more files.
EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties can be deleted, thereby exceptions can be defined. Single properties can be deleted selectively.
Files can be renamed using Exif, IPTC and XMP properties.
The EXIF, IPTC and XMP properties contained in the files can be compared.
A special mask is used to synchronize the recording time of a set of images taken with different cameras. Images are grouped by properties (mostly camera model). For each group, a shift of the recording time can be entered. Then the images are immediately sorted in order to check whether the images are then in the correct timely order.
Selected image properties of all images in a folder (including any subfolders) can be exported to a text file.
All image properties of selected images can be exported to text files (one file per image).
Display metadata (XMP) of video files as well (depending on the operating system and, if necessary, installed components) display a frame of the video.
[..]
Further processing of the images (e.g. adjusting the contrast and brightness) is not the purpose of this program.
It has a GPL license, and is the first free (as in beer) WinGUI program I've seen that can do all that.  Note the "Selected image properties of all images in a folder (including any subfolders) can be exported to a text file" feature, which could be used, for example, to generate a list of the focal lengths you've used most, to inform future camera or lens purchases.
only seeing this now, looks very impressive
Doesn't seem to show Picasa's name tags.

Very early film usually plays at a very high speed (I'm not sure why) and is silent...
Here, the uploader corrected the speed and added sound to 1890's footage from Paris, France.
Makes it much more real for me:

LED light is problematic for the eyes. Most phone screens these days are LED backlit. Wonder is OLED any better? (you could check that out).
Dimmer screens and more yellow light is easier on the eyes. (OTOH dimmer screens / less contrast will also cause eye strain.)
In my phone I can change the hue of the light -- I made it more yellow but this does not seem to stick. The phone is also set to auto-brightness -- yellow tinge also varies, presumably with surrounding brightness i.e. implementation is poor -- I think these are default Android settings.

There are also the old tricks:
  • vary where your eyes focus -- look in the distance regularly to (1) give your eyes a rest from focusing at fixed distance (2) to keep them working :-/
  • looking at green is good to rest the eyes (seriously) -- combine with step above.
525
You need to know (I quote the first three)
  • what should be in future issues
  • who is doing what article
  • what needs to be done
  • when it needs to be done by
#1 would include knowing how much space need to be filled yet.

I haven't really used Trello:
presumably one be would make a new 'Trello' for each issue of the magazine.
You wouldn't be able to interconnect some of the info though (?) e.g. which articles is Mr.Jones writing etc.

Would some sort of an Information Manager not be better, where you can interconnect all this info. Would initially be more work, but probably a time-saver in the long run.
My IM is InfoQube (IQ), but there are probably many others that could manage this info. (IQ is not freeware but is still in beta so available free for the moment. I dont know if there are good freeware/O.S. options in this direction (?))
