The F-22 is an absolutely AWESOME piece of technology.
Unfortunately, it has proven to be too expensive to build.  So the program will be shutdown.   :(

For me, it does not happen only at startup. I have opened the PC a few hours ago, and if I start the DcUpdater program, most of the times it will work, but a few times it crashes with a pop-up window appearing, as jaden has described, or, in other cases, it just closes, with no warning.

This is reproducing here also (same OS, same version, same crash).

The crashes started after the last DcUpdater update (maybe the windows 7 crashes fixes broke something for XP?).
The crashes occur especially after startup.

This is very interesting. I hope that this software systems (both those on planes and those on cars) are thoroughly tested.

Does anybody know a case in which the on-board software in some of these machines failed?
(I know that Ariane's 5 first launch crashed because of a software bug)

It seems that you can only eliminate LAN traffic, not display both LAN and WAN traffic separately. Maybe there is another tool that can do this.

You can choose what network interface to monitor (if you have more than one). And there is also an option to filter out local LAN traffic:

Link-local addresses starting with fe80:

Although the driver has been properly tested, there is always a chance of a conflict with a third-party driver that may result in a crash. If your PC becomes unstable, simply unselect this option and restart the application."

+1 for NetWorks, mentioned by joby_toss. It is highly configurable and you can make it work the way you like it.

Yes, you are right, for Windows you have to install a 3rd party distribution and this can generate the problems you have mentioned.

Fortunately I did not have problems with Active Perl until now.

As a novice or dedicated Windows user, you *may* want to consider Python over Perl, but otherwise Perl still rules the roost IMHO.

Most of my Perl scripts are runed from Windows, I can't remember having problems on it. What is nice is that I was able to run the same scripts on Linux with almost 0 modifications (the only thing I had to do is to convert the script file from MSDOS format to Linux format).

Did you have problems with Perl, on Windows? If yes, I would like to know what happened, maybe I will encounter them in the future.

I agree with Gothi[c] and Jibz, for text parsing Perl is great!

I just love  :-* to use Perl's regular expressions. And I know that there are some other applications that also use Perl's regex.

Thanks guys! I used the Process Explorer ages ago, sounds like that could work.

Before I test it (and lose some or all of my opened tabs - I'm using Chrome's "open all last opened pages again on program start" feature), would anyone be so kind and test it for me?  :)

I tested it and it works. The last tabs that were opened are restored. When I open Chrome, it detects that it was not shut down properly, and gives you the option to open the browser with those tabs. I'm using version 3.0.195.25

Ok, I'm no expert in this, so your explanation is the right one. Does this mean that the child processes are created in a special way? Or maybe the child processes know who their parent is and constantly interrogate it in order to see if it is still working?

Returning to the original question, maybe brotherS could tell us if he has found what he is looking for in the posts above. :)

Or the parent process is saying to the child processes: "I made you, I kill you".

Anyhow, the "Kill the Process Tree" option would be an alternative if this would not work.
