When TenTimer opens, the name of the first countup timer is highlighted. So it is easy to unintentionally overwrite the name by hitting any character key -- the more so if a user has learned to use space to start/stop a timer. Furthermore, this highlight doesn't serve a significant function because renaming would not be the default action.

I know it's a personal preference thing but, if I had my way, that would be how every window would act.  I can take it out if you'd like.

I know about it now, and as I said, there's no loss because it remembers the last time values.

I worked on this for several hours but I've come to the decision that, because of the way I initially designed the code to support a dynamic number of timers, fixing this issue will probably require a rewrite.  This is codespeak for, "Don't hold your breath."   :D :D :D  I've updated Ten Timer's webpage to state that it does work on Windows 7 with some graphical glitches.

A bit of a surprise: ESC closes the timer. I don't think that's a benefit.
But at least it remembers the last time values when it is reopened  :Thmbsup:

The time in my first count-up timer flickers continually, but not in any of the other timers.

Wish: Add a shortcut key to reset the time to zero (clear the timer display). This would be useful when, for example, a timer has been started by mistake and the user wishes to reset and start again.

Currently this can be done by Stop, then right-click timer box, click "Clear display." If there is already a quick way to do this, please tell me how. Thanks.

Thanks for the explanation. So the source of the problem is that the "Clicking the tray icon" box is highlighted when the Options tab is opened. If that were not the case, Ctrl+S would not search within it.

Bug in 1.0.9: If the Options tab is displayed, Ctrl+S toggles the setting of the "Clicking the tray icon" box. This might be related to the bug I reported above on March 2, 2013.

Barbecue is helping me tremendously to stay on track through a tedious and boring job of proofreading a 976-page document. The meter bar gives me a sense of progress which I don't get from my slow advancement though the document itself. Thanks, swkire!

I haven't lost any data since probably version 1.0.6 (six weeks of use). So that problem appears to have been fixed. :)

However, in 1.0.9 (and possibly earlier versions), the action of the setting "Clicking the tray icon" sometimes spontaneously changes upon restart. I have set it to the second of the two options in the dropdown menu, "Shows the configuration window." But it may unexpectedly start with the first option instead, "Shows the meter bars." I suspect that is because when the Options tab is opened, that box is already active (highlighted). I therefore have the uneasy feeling that it is not really "set." I think it should not be active unless I click on it, and once I have selected an option, it should no longer be active.

Small bug in 1.0.8 -- If I am editing any of the boxes (Title, Type, Number, Total) and use the Delete key, a dialog appears: "Remove meter? Yes/No."

Ctrl+R is turning out to be a very natural shortcut to refresh.

One helpful feature of the Percentage column is that it dynamically updates when the values for Number or Total are changed. Very, very nice.

v1.0.7 is wonderful! Very easy and smooth for keyboard control. :-* Thanks, skwire!

Everything seems to be working properly, and my data from v1.0.6 came through intact. The Duplicate Meter function is very useful. For example, I use a customized off-white background for all meters; with Duplicate I don't need to configure that color for every new meter.

F5 works well for Show/Refresh. I'll embarass myself :-[ by revising my own suggestion to something like Ctrl+R instead, to fit with the other shortcuts Ctrl+N, Ctrl+S, and Ctrl+D (for example, one could save and refresh with the sequence Ctrl+S, Ctrl+R). Either way is fine, it's up to you skwire.

Again, thanks for such a nice, functional utility.

I really appreciate your input, Ath. The fix didn't solve my problem with Eudora, but it was worth a try. And I don't have access to RightNote Pro anymore. Again, thanks. (BTW, the script is tagged for IE7, IE8, and IE9.) I'll go back to using Battle Encoder Shirase for now to limit Eudora.

If rightnote is using the IE html control to display it's content, I'd reregister the IE stuff. Instructions can be found using Google (I'm typing on a tablet atm, so copy/paste is quite bothersome)

The only obstacle is my own apathy.   :P  It would take some fairly significant code refactoring (as compared to the current code) but it's nothing hard or anything like that.  I'll try to find the time to do it.

I've just discovered that Alt+B updates the meter display, so as a user who favors keyboard control over the mouse, I now feel less need for the meters to be updated dynamically because I don't need to click the refresh button to get results. You can demote my request accordingly. (Note by the way the awkward ergonomics of mouse control for Save and Refresh: Upper-left corner for Save, then lower-right corner for Refresh. That was the motivation for my requesting dynamic refresh.)

Two wishes for improved use:
1. Add keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+S for Save (easier than the current Alt+F, S) and F5 for Show/Refresh Meters (easier than the current Alt+B because it is a single key) -- both are common shortcuts for those functions, therefore natural here.

2. In the Configure Meter Bars, add a % column to the right of the Number and Total columns. The reason is that this is the primary interface of Barbecue, so if % were displayed, the user might never need to go to the Meter Bar interface anyway. Currently, however, % is shown only in the Meter Bars.

Thanks, Ath; I agree it is better to solve the root problem. However, that is beyond my abilities. And I am using the most recent, stable release. I suspect that part of the problem is Eudora is an old 32-bit pre-Vista program (last updated in 2006), whereas I am using it on Win7/64. It is no longer being developed.

However, I also suspect that there is something more fundamental going on. Eudora causes the same problem on another Win7/64 machine, so it is not specifically the Eudora installation on my machine. I also experienced it in RightNote -- whenever I viewed any html page it had captured and stored as a note internally, CPU usage shot up to ~25%, and returned to 0% as soon as I switched to a non-html note in the program; then back up to 25% when viewing any html-based note.

So I agree that something is not being processed correctly, whether in certain email messages in Eudora, or html-based notes in RightNote. I suspect that troubleshooting it is not a trivial task, and as I say, it is beyond my abilities.
