N.A.N.Y. 2010 / Writeup of FarWebMetaSearch

Why is FarrWebMetaSearch famous?

FarrWebMetaSearch is famous because it is a Find and Run Robot (FARR) plug-in used to query results from a web page and display them in list form.

Sorry to be such a pain, but you are still direct linking to forum attachments on the following:

Crush Linx http://download.famouswhy.com/crushlinx/
Crush Pad http://download.famouswhy.com/crushpad/
Dad's Around http://download.famo...hy.com/dad_s_around/

The problem is that the developers have no control over the URLs assigned to forum attachments and the forum software will automatically assign a different one if the attachment is changed. It's not like a regular website, where the developer can control the download link. So it's not a good idea to direct link to any forum attachments on this or any other forum. Just something to keep in mind for future reviews.

Please do accept our apologies for this issue. Everything should be ok now. We didn't think that editing the attachments in a topic will actually replace their ids as well.  :-[

Just a few quick comments...

  • Fried Babelfish has two developers, not just one, Krishean and myself. We both have our own websites, we don't share one. If and when Fried Babelfish has its own home page, it will most likely be on my website and not Krishean's, although Krishean may post the code for his part of it on his site at some point (but not the entire application). I know this may complicate things, but sometimes that's what happens when developers become friends and work together.

  • At the bottom of the page where it says it is donationware, there is a link to find out what that means, but it leads to a page that doesn't mention donationware.

  • You are direct linking to the file attachments on the forum, and those links will change if we update the software, resulting in dead links on your site.

And from the description:
Fried Babelfish is a small desktop translator. It’s not perfect and the translated text can contain some errors (especially grammar) but this is a common thing. So far, there is no perfect translator (even the popular Google translator has its own flaws).

But Fried Babelfish is Google Translator, and it says that later on in the description.

Unlike an online translator, Fried Babelfish is way easier to use.

It is an online translator, just not in your browser. You can not use it offline.

Everything should be fine now. We have modified all the things you mentioned above. Please let us know if there are any more problems. Thank you very much for your kindness and for your cooperation.

Bible Quiz is an interesting project and an interesting concept. Just like the name suggests, Bible Quiz is a quiz mini game with questions from Bible. In fact, Bible Quiz comes with more than 1.000 questions with various difficulty levels (there are some really simple questions and some quite difficult as well).

For each wrong answer, Bible Quiz is going to show you the corresponding verse from Bible. By reading that verse, the user can understand where he got wrong and what the correct answer is. For each correct answer, the user receives one point. After the quiz is completed, a final table will show how many correct and wrong answer you had and the overall score (percentage). For example, if you had 8 correct answers and 2 wrong answers, the final score will be 80%.

Overall, Bible Quiz is a good quiz game. Its interface is simple enough and accessible. The yellow color may be a bit disturbing but nothing to serious. The user can set sound option on/off, can browse through questions or he can use the "hint" option if the gets stuck.

Why is Bible Quiz famous?

Bible Quiz is famous because is an interesting Bible quiz with over 1.000 different questions and multiple choice answers.

N.A.N.Y. 2009 / Re: NANY 2009 Release: Auto Cursor Mover
« Last post by adi_barb on August 27, 2010, 07:44 AM »
Auto Cursor Mover has been added to the Famous Software database!

Why is Auto Cursor Mover famous?

Auto Cursor Mover is famous because it is a small but extremely useful tool that allows you to create a loop of cursor actions and even enter text if necessarily.

The idea behind Auto Cursor Mover is quite simple. Each point from your desktop has its own coordinates (X and Y as it is set into a 2D plan). In the upper left corner of your screen, X and Y value is 0. By moving the cursor towards right side of your screen, X value increases while by moving the mouse cursor down, Y value increases. Using Auto Cursor Mover, the user can save as many coordinates as he wants and he can add a specific action for each point.

Best Archive Tool / Re: Versions??
« Last post by adi_barb on May 27, 2010, 04:55 PM »
So I downloaded and installed IZArc and I right clicked on a picture from my desktop and selected add to image.zip. I checked on the desktop and the zip file wasn't there... is it saved in a default archiving folder? If I move the file in a folder and right click on it for add to a zip file... the zip file will be placed in that folder... this is weird.

Another thing... if I have a png image in an archive and double click on it to edit with the default picture editing software... then make some corrections and try to save... it won't save it in the archive... it will save it in a temporary folder. Is there any option to save in archive directly?

And the third question : If I have an zip file created with IZArc in a folder containing 10 archived pictures and if I want to select some more files and directly drag them to the zip file... they won't add in the archive. Is this normal?

I'll miss the newspapers a lot... actually I maybe could die without printed newspapers…And thankfully, the newspaper industry is nowhere near extinction here in my country! The have a lot of work behind... compared to blogs or other web stuff.

you should look for a web content extractor software or you may want to find a programmer who could make you the script for one or more types of forums. one must know all types of forums to easily implement some general algos for parsing their content. anyway... are you sure the forum's owners would be happy to know someone is taking their content?

... There are no Reviews for 'Celeb Faces' yet.
-famouswhy.com

It may be interesting for very short period of time only. Let's say, in ten years from now, only a minority will know who characters like X-Zibit, Kim Kardashian,  Halle Bery, Paris Hilton, Usher, ever were.

... maybe things like this font keeps their fame forever even after 10-20 years from now.  ;D

The best way is to manually create and edit your pad file for your software using an existing one, because you will know how and what to modify it when some websites won't accept the format a generator will export.
All you need is notepad or any other simple text editors and it will take few minutes to edit everything.

If you're still interested in this subject, I can send you one of my examples anytime.
