i guess that the thumbnail is not displayed because the Windows thinks it is a malformed avi due to lack of info.. try installing a decoder like ffdshow.

FFDSHOW is a DirectShow decoding filter for decompressing DivX, XviD, H.264, FLV1, WMV, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, MPEG-4 movies. It uses libavcodec from ffmpeg project for video decompression, postprocessing code from mplayer to enhance visual quality of low bitrate movies, and is based on original DirectShow filter from XviD, which is GPL'ed educational implementation of MPEG4 encoder.

Armando, i once had the same problem with the alpha but after killing Farr.. i renamed the ini file and let Farr generate a new one. after that, it was all okay, just passing on the nfo.. :)

aye, a quick check in GSpot shows the codec as a "FMP", probably since it's based on the FFMPEG encoder..

I was thinking of mapping win-v to ctrl-alt-v but couldn't manage it with autohotkey, for some reason the keys seem to stick (ctrl was always pressed) under vista.

i'll take it as compliment.. :)

SUPER is a program I only became aware of from people talking about it here. I've found it to be excellent, it does almost everything you could need and I think it should meet your requirements.

Eóin, take a look here before suggesting SUPER.. or Hirudin might bite your head off.. ;)

well, given the fact that this thread's title and the 1st product mentioned involves FLV, it's natural for responders to give pointers on FLV. anyway, good for you that you have decided to start a new thread..

i wouldn't call "pressing 3 keys is quite an acrobatic feat!" but nevertheless the inclusion of Win keys as possible hotkeys would be most welcome.. :)

I like the fact that Teracopy integrates itself into the shell and takes over Explorer
is there an option not to integrate into the shell? :)

I haven't tried the Riva encoder yet... I'm hesitant to get a shareware encoder since I can do it with free apps already. I'll grab the demo tomorrow though.
actually, Riva Encoder is a freeware program and the link is at the top of this thread.. :) but what the heck, here is it again: http://www.rivavx.de/?encoder

mouser, that looks fantastic! it was really worth all the time that it took you.. :)

Anyone know of any 'tweaker' software for converting videos? I like tons of options, but am tired of using 6 different programs!

imo, it's better to have a few programs that specialize in selected formats rather than hoping for one major app that will be the panacea.. btw, did you encounter any problems with the Riva encoder?

What's the Best? / Re: cd burning
« Last post by lanux128 on June 02, 2007, 12:39 AM »
aye, DiscJuggler looks promising.. among others, it allows writing drives to be shared across networks. however, it seem to offer licenses by the number of optical drives on the system - e.g. licensing starts from 2 drives which amounts to $49.99. there's a demo version available for download, though..

Demo Edition
This time-unlimited, fully-functional demo is availabe for you to download, at no cost or commitment. You are only capable of writing to one CD or DVD writing drive at the lowest speed possible at a capacity no higher than 700 MB. Technical Support is only available by e-mail for demo users.

yeah, that was probably by default rather than the de facto solution.. what it tells us is that these kind of problems do exist but their solution is a terribly hit-or-miss affair..
