DonationCoder was listed on a makeuseof.com page on 9 cleanest and safest websites to download free software for windows!

As the author points out, we aren't a general repository and only host our own software -- which makes it even more of an honor that we were listed.

N.A.N.Y. 2016 / Re: NANY 2016 Pledge/Alpha: Mouser's Media Browser
« Last post by mouser on May 12, 2016, 08:28 AM »
Any more suggestions?

I think this program has a very narrow niche use -- that's because there are some very excellent completely free image browsers (xnview for example), which have tons of features and work very well.

I do feel like this program (Mouser's Media Browser) could play a role as a kind of bundled add-on for other programs (like my own Screenshot Captor and Clipboard Helps and Spell, and Automatic Screenshotter). It occurred to me that other tools might want to bundle it in to their tools as well.

There are 2 main features that I need to add to the program before i think it will show its true value:
  • The first is to make it properly multithreaded, so that there is no delay when browsing large directories -- right now the program is unresponsive while scanning very large directories.
  • The second is to add a virtual-date folder idea that i have which would make a very nice way to browse large directories of images, by providing a hierarchical timeline type view.

Detail's-view Mode' feature; But as an optional extra panel rather than a replacement of either the filmstrip or grid view.

yeah i think a small detail panel, showing details about the currently selected file would be a good idea.

Ok finally let me try to reply to these posts!

First, thanks for the info about the on-top behavior hiding the about box.
All of the behavior you describe about the program being unresponsive is all due to the fact that a dialog (about box) was behind the main window which was forcing itself on top.
This is a bug that has been seen in a couple of my other programs -- i need to remember to not let it creep back in!
I occasionally see it in other people's programs as well. I will fix.
ps. a good solution in this case is just select the main window and hit escape.  The escape key will usually close the hidden dialog.

Second,
About this program needing its own section -- you are probably right.  I usually do create a section for each app of mine, but this one hasn't gotten much attention so i haven't bothered yet.  Same with my Automatic Screenshotter tool.

that's an excellent password (pass phrase).
theoretically would be improved if you mispelled a word or otherwise made it ungrammatical.
4758
I don't think such a feature exists, though it's not a terrible idea to add..
4759
You can tell LBC to sort and arrange the contents of a folder into SECTIONS by letter (though it's not subdirectories):

4760
wow. that is amazingly cool.
4761
one piece of advice given above is good -- make a full drive image of the computer when you get it set up the way you want it, and you keep a copy of that.  then if their set up gets messed up, you can restore it to how you had it in minutes.
4762
what jibz said makes sense -- if they only need what's on a chromebook, it's a nice solution.

My Screenshot Captor (link here) does have a little bit of a learning curve, but I do believe that after you spend just a little time with it and configure it to match your workflow, most users would find that it is trivially easy to do everything you need it to do, and in the most efficient manner.

Having said that, each to his own!

Find And Run Robot / Re: Aliases in aliases
« Last post by mouser on May 07, 2016, 10:24 AM »
So I'm not sure if you invoke help differently from an F1 at that point,

Let me check into that -- I myself never use the F1 key to bring up help so it's not something I ever test.

I can see how that info about using | to prefix description is misleading -- I'll try to improve it.

As you figured out, the format if you want to add an optional description for an alias is:
prefix string here | commandline here

which IMO means it is more likely to peel away
yep.
4767
well now let me ask a different question, is there ANY magnification above 100% with two monitors where a workspace capture is correct?
4768
Ok so at least we are making progress on identifying the nature of the problem -- and it's not a problem with selected region capturing per se, and is instead a more general problem.

Very useful seeing those screenshots.

Now if I make impose a bit more --

I think you addressed this earlier, but is there a scenario where having the two screens at the SAME magnification still has a problem?  One subtlety about testing this is that it may be that SC has to be restarted after making magnification changes in order to not cause spurious problems.

And lastly, can you tell me if for example the 125+150 case above, if you do single-screen (monitor) captures, are the individual monitor captures also incomplete?

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Filter box seizes focus...

Let me add an option to disable to auto-focus on filter box and see if that helps.
4770
Following up -- it now appears i may have misunderstood a fundamental issue related to this problem.

I've been operating under the assumption that the other capture modes (capture screen, workspace) worked fine and it was just selected region that was broken.

But now from some discussion it appears that assumption may not be true.

Jesper can you go to a configuration where selected region captures give bad zoomed result, and then just try taking a normal Capture Screen capture on each monitor and post the results?
4771
jesper, when you get a chance, im particularly interested in the normal CAPTURE ENTIRE WORKSPACE results in the two scenarios where selected region works vs when it doesn't.

contrary to my previous thinking that this capture-entire workspace always worked fine in all cases, on another user's test, we found big blank white areas on left and right of monitors indicating that something is wrong even with the capture entire workspace in this scenario.

Skwire does it again !

I know I might sound like a broken record but let me take another opportunity to remind folks that if you want to encourage people like skwire and the idea of coders solving requests like this, please do send a few bucks to the coder (skwire in this case) by clicking the gold $ coin under their name to the left.

I'd be curious to hear what tools/features in snagit that you are missing in SC (maybe in a personal message, email [email protected], or a separate thread).
4775
Hi Alex.

I should probably save the last settings so they are remembered. Added to my todo list.
