Claus of Grand Stream Dreams reviewed System Stress Testing Suites earlier this year. Here's a quick rundown:

Bart’s Stuff Test 5 – (freeware) -- for heavy stress testing of storage devices.

Memtest86 - (freeware) –- for off-line booting of a system and memory checking of installed RAM.

Memtest86+ - (freeware) –- the other bootable memory tester system.

Inquisitor – (open-source) -- for hardware testing and certification system, suitable for both enterprise and home use, customizable, modular and available in both serverless Live CD/DVD format and server-controlled network boot production system.

Phoronix Test Suite - Linux Testing & Benchmarking Platform - (freeware) –- the Test Suite is the most comprehensive testing and benchmarking platform available for the Linux operating system. This software is designed to effectively carry out both qualitative and quantitative benchmarks in a clean, reproducible, and easy-to-use manner.

Phoronix Test Suite LiveCD – Still a work in progress and may not match the current release version of Phoronix proper.  Should allow the curious to experiment with the features safely before deciding if they want to go to the full local installed package.

I guess support ended way long before April 8, 2009.

The gates are closed for maintenance, look for a Gateway.

Okay, I've noticed something else. Whenever I mouse over a window it automatically focuses on that window. When I move it away, the focus leaves. I haven't made any mouse changes except for its speed. What now?

Do you have TweakUI installed?

Start, Run, type regsvr32 /i shell32.dll, and press OK and the same for this command regsvr32 ole32.dll (you may have to restart to see if that fix the problem.)

Okay, I ran both of those, but still have the same issue.

A restart might help.
487
Executing the commands will re-register shell32.dll and ole32.dll. You may backup but it's not really necessary as these dlls were installed with Windows.

Did you check "Enable Dragging and Dropping" Option in your start menu properties?

Scratch that.

Also check out SizeMe (mentioned before on the forums but can't find the thread)

It's a .reg file on line 54. Just right click on it and then "save as.." to your desktop. Just backup the registry before running the scripts and merging the information in the .reg file if it makes you feel at ease.

PhilB66: I'm not sure I follow you. But then, I'm in dire need of some sleep. I think I'll wait and tackle this issue tomorrow if it's all the same to you. :)
Was just trying to ease your concern about running the scripts.

PastIconsFlusher (scroll down to bottom of page) does the same as "Remove Past Items From Notification Area" script.

PastIconsFlusher is a tiny open-source program which quickly and effectively clears the Past Notifications Area in the Customize Notifications area in Windows XP and Windows Vista. It does this by deleting two registry keys and restarting Windows Explorer; this is done in as safe a manner as possible.

The second script will hide/unhide "Inactive Icons" in the "Notification Area"

http://www.kellys-ko...xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm (download and run both scripts on line 53, when done, restart explorer and run the "Save Settings on Exit" script from line 54)
