Living Room / Impressive juggler
« Last post by MerleOne on February 08, 2010, 06:53 AM »
Hi,
I usually don't pay much attention to juggler performances, but this one catched my attention (seen in a Best of Youtube Selection) :

This guy is really talented (unless he has a friend who is a CGI wizard).

It's on https://www.regnow.c...ell.cgi?item=17447-5 (50% discount)

About Macrium licensing policy, I found on their support forum that one get free updates for all minor versions (4.x), and that the next major version will be free if the purchase of the current version occurs three months before or less.

Version 5 was supposed to be released by the end of 2009.

No, there isn't (at least from Boot Snooze).  There are several ways to auto-login to your computer, though.  TweakUI is one...but that decision is up to you.

OK, thanks for the clarification.

Hi, I have a question : when I activate BootSnooze, after reboot, my XP Home PC stays on the logon screen and doesn't hibernate.  Its only when I log on that the bootsnooze window opens and hibernation starts after the set up delay. Is there a way to still get the hibernation without logging on ?

Hi,

Could you clarity what you mean by "CrystalMark likes it" : you perform a before defrag /after defrag comparison and check for differences in the benchmark result ?  Or is it something else ?  Thanks.

Sure, it's possible.  Could you give me a scenario where this would be necessary, though?  What I mean is...this app is meant to be used when you're done with everything and ready to reboot.

For instance, when I leave home in the morning, I put my XP desktop in hibernation, it wakes up just before I get home.  This morning, I had a huge download to perform, and had either to stop it and hibernate OR to leave it running.  With BootSnooze, I could have asked for a reboot/hibernate in 3 hours time, then, when coming home, my PC would just resume from hibernation and the download would have been complete.

would it be possible to add a timer so that the reboot (then the hibernation) only starts after a given time ?

could it be cause you're only supposed to get one license per person?
When I got it it, after making payment, it asked me to fill in name again in order to get the plus key. It then said there was a problem with cookies & that it couldn't figure out was I looking for winpatrol or the Taskcatcher and gave me a page where I could choose.

Nope, Bill has changed his offer and now it's up to 2 licenses / user.  And I used a different PC.

I had a strange issue when ordering my 2nd license : I got a TaskCatcher license instead.  Bill sent me manually the correct license when I notified him.  I did the order process another time, more slowly, and guess what : another TC license...

It's on http://www.deaddiskdoctor.com/

DDD is a file recovery software that aims at recovering data from damaged media (HDD, CD, DVD).  There is a trial version available AFAIK.  Also, note that the software locks itself onto the hardware for which you have ordered the license (you generate your H/W ID with the software, send it to the developer and get your license key).

Actually is goes beyond file recovery.  You may also extract files from .iso images (not a unique feature, but still useful).

Hi,
Does it work well with Win7 ?  I have to remove an expired McAfee version and I am considering either this new Avast or Avira Free Edition.
496
I think the registration is within the GAOTD installer itself.  But that's just a guess.  So you may have to install it today on all the PC where you want it.  Or wait for the next GAOTD, or find an equivalent like Glary's.

General Software Discussion / Re: Collectorz.com... again!
« Last post by MerleOne on January 21, 2010, 02:06 AM »
It relies on Amazon databases.  The webcam bar code scanner is working really well, but for just a few input, I prefer to type the barcode, it's quicker than installing my webcam.

You can very easily add your own scans (I prefer to look into google images and pick the one that suits me, when possible).

When you buy it, you get a license for 2 PCs (it requires online activation).  Manual data entry is sometimes a bit strange, but when you get past that, it's really very efficient.

I switched to Mediaman a while ago, that handles all (physical) media (books, DVD, CD, games, cartoons) in a very nice way.  If you want to change, just try it.  The barcode scanner that can be used with a simple Webcam is a plus when you have tons of media to index.

I bought a license a while ago and it's one of my favourite tools.  I use it mainly for transfering video files burned on my video recorder onto a DVD-RAM to my PC.  Burned DVD have usually a few errors, and a regular copy fails.
