AutoHotkey / Re: help with icons
« Last post by nite_monkey on November 28, 2007, 08:21 PM »
Thank you Cranioscopical. I didn't know you could run the compiler. I have always just right clicked on the AHK script and clicked convert.

AutoHotkey / help with icons
« Last post by nite_monkey on November 28, 2007, 07:41 PM »
I'm new to programming, and i was wanting to make my compiled autohotkey scripts look more professional, but I don't know how to change the icon for it. I want to be able to change the tray icon, and also change the program's icon (the icon that shows up on the desktop and in folders right above the name of the program). How do I do that? Is there a program that I can use to do that, or can I do that with a code that I add to the script? I was looking at the documentation on the AHK site, I did see something about adding a tray icon, but I don't think that would change the program's physical icon (the green H when you compile it).

General Software Discussion / Re: Best password manager?
« Last post by nite_monkey on November 28, 2007, 07:20 PM »
I used steganos locknote, but now I use fSekrit since I found out it makes smaller files then locknote does.
I like it, because I don't like actual password managers. They are loaded down with to many features. all I need is a text box that I can type in my passwords/reg info for programs/sites/etc, and then require a password to open it, and fSekrit does just that. No special features, just a text box, and a password, and if I loose the original program, all I have to do is open a note I made with it, and then I have another copy of it.

yeah, I wasn't mentioning Nintendo's dongle because it is no longer being made, so you could probably only find it on ebay.

General Software Discussion / Re: what does uninstall really mean?
« Last post by nite_monkey on November 24, 2007, 09:40 PM »
I'm about ready to just forget about it.
I've uninstalled the driver, deleted all the files for it that I could find, tried updating the driver with the one I want to use, and several other things that I can't remember right now, and nothing is working, windows just sucks!

edit: ok, I got it to uninstall. I installed the software that came with the dongle, and then uninstalled the software, and it took the drivers off with it.

oh, ok, I've done that a couple of times, it says the one currently installed is newer then the one I want to put on it.

I usually restart a couple of times a day, whether I'm installing something new, or uninstalling something... or like yesterday and today where I've restarted a bunch while trying to get windows to stop using one driver for a device so I could put a different driver on it.

I just downloaded some drivers from a website that were suported by my card that would let my send stuff to my ds.
I've never manually forced a driver install, how would I do that?

Windows sure does suck. I removed the sys file, but I couldn't find the inf file, and I restarted the pc, and when I plugged in the device again, it put back the drivers again.

I have been trying to use my usb wireless dongle as an access point, and I found a way to use it to run ds roms on my ds through the ds download and play, but I have to install edited drivers. I am ok with doing this, but windows sure isn't. Which brings me to my question, what does uninstall mean?
last I checked uninstall ment:
Uninstall: To properly and completely remove a program from the computer. This is usually done via the programs' own uninstall utility, or by using Add/Remove in Control Panel.
Or in my case to COMPLETELY REMOVE a driver from the computer.
I uninstalled the drivers for my usb dongle, but whenever I do that and then reinsert the dongle, it puts the drivers back on. I want to install the edited drivers, how do I do that? I can't push update driver, because windows says the drivers that it is forcing me to use are newer than the ones I want to use.

General Software Discussion / In need of software access point
« Last post by nite_monkey on November 22, 2007, 04:16 PM »
I recently got a free D-link DWL-G122 wireless usb dongle, and I was wanting to use it to connect my ds and if I ever get a wii to the internet. I tried to set up the card as an ad hoc, and my ds could see it, but when I tried to connect to it, it couldn't connect, and I did research on the internet, and noone else could do that either. So I was wondering if anyone knew of a program that would let me turn my usb dongle into an access point so that I can connect my ds to the internet. If anyone can help me out, that would be great.

I've used rapget before, and if you use tor then you can point rapget's proxy to use tor, and then you can download multiple files with rapget.
493
that makes sense. That would be a useful feature.

it sounds cool and all, but what does the AA BB CC DD and what not do? I would like to download it and see how cool it is.

General Software Discussion / Re: compare text files
« Last post by nite_monkey on November 09, 2007, 08:47 PM »
it's a more complicated way, but you can get an editor that numbers the lines, and just open the two text files at once, and goto the two lines and compare them.

Dunno why yours is reporting something different.  What OS are you running?  Vista?
Windows xp, because I would have to be stupid to use vista unless I bought a new computer, and didn't have a copy of xp to install on it, then I would use vista.
But it doesn't really matter to me, because I don't care when I installed windows, or how long it's been running.
