OK, from Alwins comments in the forums it seemed like the decision was already made, but I guess not :)

Doesn't matter too much for me, TBH. I prefer Music Collector, but guess incorporated MP3 collection would be a nice feature. Probably wouldn't buy a separate MP3 collector, though.
477
So there will be an upgraded MP3 Collector but also a new Music Collector v9 with integrated MP3 Collector?

I guess the good thing with only one newsletter per month, is that it's looong and thus involves more reading of interesting stuff from DC!

Thanks !

Living Room / Re: Chandler V1 is officially out.
« Last post by TucknDar on August 14, 2008, 04:40 PM »
Very strange how this app could turn out so... ordinary. Can't say I've been following it, but I was on the lookout for a PIM a couple of years ago and read about Chandler, which sounded very promising. And then this... Installed it, then uninstalled it. Too bad since apparently it's been developed for so long :-\

Anyone notice that Collectorz.com jumped their prices up?  All "Pro" versions are now $49.95 instead of $39.95.
Where does it say that? I see the prices in Euros, and all Pro versions are listed at €39.95. It is of course possible that if you're browsing from the US the prices will be in $ and that they've jumped the prices because of the decreased value of the dollar...
482
hehe, pretty much what I would've estimated ;)

I hope you're right on that, tuckndar. However, when I read the same post last week, I couldn't help but wonder if they're going to charge an upgrade fee to anyone who doesn't currently own a lifetime licence for both mp3 Collector and Music Collector...
That's a good point, Darwin... I think a lot of lifetime license holders of Music Collector would be pretty angry at this, though, since a lot of us wouldn't need the mp3 cataloguing at all. But I wouldn't rule this license workaround out...  :-\

How many Linux distros are there?

Sorry to revive this thing, but thought I'd mention that Collectorz.com app Music Collector will (most likely) eventually incorporate MP3 Collector! Stumbled upon the following in the Collectorz.com Music Collector forum:
SUGGESTION
If it is not being supported then incorporate it in Music Collector.
-lekermitage

Well, I wasn't planning on revealing this yet, but that is exactly what we are planning to do :-)

Don't hold your breath though, we will probably only be able to start on this near the end of the year. Then it will of course take a few months do do the integration....
-Alwin Hoogerdijk
Note that Alwin Hoogerdijk is the president of Collectorz.com.

Should probably add the following quote as well:
This will be the major upgrade to version 9.0 and probably not free.

I don't recommend waiting for its release, as we have no ETA yet whatsoever.
-Alwin Hoogerdijk
So that means that if you purchased Music Collector before November 2006 IIRC you'll be entitled to a free upgrade to MuC 9.

But again: I'm guessing this thing won't see the light of day for another 6-12 months, just thought I'd let you know

the last thing i don't do but i can add an ability to autolaunch another graphic image editor.
That's a good idea! More advanced editing features should def be kept out of minicap and reserved for Screenshot captor :)

Find And Run Robot / Re: [request] "Fuzzy search" only after first character
« Last post by TucknDar on August 05, 2008, 10:27 AM »
Yes, i can see what you mean. I'd really like the option, although being able to bias first letter matches much more could be worth looking at as well. I guess you're right about such cases as Mozilla Firefox, as most Microsoft products would fall in that "trap" as well. I still think I'd turn that option on, as typing 'fire' would still put Firefox at the top, as would 'word', 'excel' etc.

Find And Run Robot / [request] "Fuzzy search" only after first character
« Last post by TucknDar on August 05, 2008, 08:48 AM »
Don't know if that topic subject made much sense, but let me explain. Non-contiguous pattern matching (i.e. fuzzy search) is very useful, but I find myself only using it like this: Search for Movie Collector, type 'mocoll' or similar, not like this: 'vicoll' (both match). Ok, that didn't make much sense either  :wallbash: The difference is that in the way I search, I always use the first character of what I'm searching for, in this example that is of course 'm'. So my request is that as an option, the non-contiguous pattern matching should only match results that has the same first character as I typed!

Did I finally make sense?

Type: 'mocoll' would match 'Movie Collector', 'more collages.doc', 'more cool lettuce.xls' (fictional...), etc, but not 'emoticon collection', 'grandmother's cold lobster soup.doc' or similar (great examples, huh).

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: Plugin: AlbumDisplayer (BETA)
« Last post by TucknDar on August 05, 2008, 08:24 AM »
the alb * feature has been delayed by awesome weather, plenty of swimming in lakes and other distracting outdoor activities. Sorry about that.
How dare you!?!?!? 8)

I can see what you mean about the freezes, not really ideal. Does it make any difference if the album images are smaller? Or maybe let user type how many albums to display, so that the user can decide how much "freezing" is acceptable or how many albums at the time alb * should display.

I'd be happy to test any work in progress!

There's most definitely some conflict between ksdhtmledlib.ocx and something on my system, but I haven't got a clue what I can be. I should post to the yahoo group you mentioned earlier. I'll get around to it eventually. Thanks for your help
Uhmmm... ok, so I forgot about posting to the Yahoo! Group, but decided earlier today that I wanted to give it another shot. Maybe some Windows update or something else just magically fixed the issue!? And, sure, now everything is working fine  Now I just need to figure out how to use this thing, but at least it's working and I can see some of its power. :D

Whoops, didn't notice that the thread is redundant!  Thanks Josh.

Geez, if this were another forum, I know I'd be attacked for starting a redundant thread.  That's why I love it here.  Everyone's so nice!
Shut up!

I'm wondering if I purchase this today then a DC disount is available soon, would it be possible to be refunded the discount savings?

unlikely -- companies don't generally do this.
Yes, thought so.

Hope you'll hear from them soon, cthorpe!

I'm very tempted to just purchase this right away (I still have many days left of my evaluation period...) so I'm wondering if I purchase this today then a DC disount is available soon, would it be possible to be refunded the discount savings?

probably not the best place to ask, but I take it other DC users would be interested as well

General Software Discussion / Re: Scam? Regnow Extended Download Service
« Last post by TucknDar on August 04, 2008, 04:00 AM »
I think it just means that the download (yourpurchasedprogram_setup.exe) is stored for you to download whenever. Which is basically useless... since pretty much all programs can be downloaded for free and it's only your license that would "get lost" with a fried hard drive.

So IMO it's not a downright scam, but... scamISH
