Something that may need fixing: One of the minor frustrations of the new DC Forum regime for me is that, where I had blocked someone from sending me PMs (Personal Messages) under the old regime, their forum posts are now being automatically blocked under the new regime, accompanied by the standard comment "You are ignoring this user", or something

oh i had no idea that was the case.. that's strange.

it's hard for me to imagine needing to block someone from sending you a pm on this forum -- if there's anyone sending repeated pm messages we should be banning them..

• [MinorFeature] Added option (Interface tab) to not flash/change tray icon when copying clips.
• [MinorChange] Changed the default values on the maintenance tab to wait longer before moving clips from New to Old section and from Old to Recycle bin.
• [MinorBugFix] You can now search for - as a single character.
• [BugFix] Fixed bug where clip title edit field could temporarily disappear if previous clip was an image and window was minimized before capturing a text clip.

Im not sure why it would be making the cursor blink - it doesn't do that on my tests.  Anyone else seeing this behavior?

I guess it's only this one option:


If you uncheck that, FARR should always pop up at the same place (on the same monitor) that you last had it at.  So you move it where you want it and it will always pop up there.

Interesting read about a well known community site that caught the wave of google ads and then saw it decline overnight..

MetaFilter, started in the late ’90s as one of the original group blogs, grew into a small but active community site. When AdSense came out in 2003, it suddenly started accruing revenue. By 2005, Matt was making double his salary and was able to quit his day job to focus on MetaFilter full-time.

In 2012, a reconfiguration in how Google ranked pages caused MetaFilter’s revenues to drop overnight. During the next few years, Matt struggled to keep MetaFilter afloat. Just over a year ago, Matt stepped back from his day-to-day role. Indie.vc caught up with him last week to check in on how things have been going.

I think this program has a very narrow niche use -- that's because there are some very excellent completely free image browsers (xnview for example), which have tons of features and work very well.

I do feel like this program (Mouser's Media Browser) could play a role as a kind of bundled add-on for other programs (like my own Screenshot Captor and Clipboard Helps and Spell, and Automatic Screenshotter). It occurred to me that other tools might want to bundle it in to their tools as well.

There are 2 main features that I need to add to the program before i think it will show its true value:

• The first is to make it properly multithreaded, so that there is no delay when browsing large directories -- right now the program is unresponsive while scanning very large directories.
• The second is to add a virtual-date folder idea that i have which would make a very nice way to browse large directories of images, by providing a hierarchical timeline type view.
