General Software Discussion / Re: Tray Icon "Stuck" on Purple

Sorry... I meant to post this to the existing post "Linkman 8.80 released ".

can some moderater attach it to the other thread? (or is it only mouser can do that? - in which case, can mouser do it :))

^In my experience, 'quarantine' without warning or explanation is often the default

Any way, here are the screenshots, which the choices were slightly different this time, compared to what I described above, but still just as annoying.

especially sneaky the way the [cancel] button is greyed out as if it's not an option

I just updated PDFcreator - http://www.pdfforge.org/ -
(all updates have to be manually installed)
it is a really great PDF printer - as good as Adobe distiller in my experience - mind you I havent used more recent versions of that.

But they've taken to fairly sneaky opt-out options which vary from one update to the next. With one recent update, you were led to believe that you had reached the final "install pdfcreator" window, then they snuk in another opt-out - I actually clicked yes to that one and had to do a system restore afterwards (didnt trust anything else).

So here's todays experience:

Advanced are now called "Expert settings / set server mode, etc. ..."
Mind goes - I dont need server mode - next!

Screenshot - 2013-04-26 , 16_29_50.png

this one is okay - nothing pre-selected

Screenshot - 2013-04-26 , 16_31_42.png

this one is kind sneaky too I think:
the untickbox is for terms and conditions - only after that do they say: "and want to install xyz"

Screenshot - 2013-04-26 , 16_31_57.png

In spite of this messing around I'll repeat my recommendation -
if you need control of your PDFs and a printer that works well with vectors, this is the one for you.

I hadnt known about the Control one(s) -
that way why I was getting unexpected behaviour
(I had thought that the other ones worked with control).

« Last post by tomos on April 26, 2013, 04:35 AM »
What are the shortcuts for tweaking the selection area?
They may be in the helpfile but I coulnt find.
(I think these shortcuts might be working a bit wonky - or maybe it just me)

To be 100% clear:
Select an area.
Hold mouse over one edge and check the "zoom-box" bottom left in main pane.
Various shortcuts work to move that edge, one pixel at a time.

TBH I can never remember them and chance my arm and usually figure it out.

I tried Ctrl+Arrowkeys and Ctrl+Alt+Arrowkeys and Crtl+Shift+Arrowkeys.
All seemed to work, but today they appear to affect the frame at both sides, i.e. the selection-box moves, instead of becoming one pixel smaller (or bigger) on one side.

So maybe if someone could tell me which shortcuts I *should* be using, hopefully then I'll understand better/explain better what's happening.
Thanks.

Blow
it gets 7.5 on IMDB - I'd give it about a four, if that  (maybe that's harsh, there were some good scenes...)
About George Jung -
the guy who got cocaine flowing in the US in the 1970's. Apparently he was basically a really nice guy who left it all behind, and all his problems were really caused by other people - especially the women in his life.
I dunno where they got the story (possibly from George Jung himself?) but it was like a propaganda film for him - left me doubting the storyline again and again. And the main dealers were just too good looking to be quite convincing...

Actually I saw a reasonably good drugs related film lately:
Snitch

MV5BNTM4MTYzNjA3Nl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMzcyNDA5OA@@._V1_SX214_.jpg

reviewers on imdb seemed suprised about the lead guy being good because he was a profi-wrestler. I didnt know that when I saw it.
Based on the mandatory sentencing laws, where if you're caught with over a certain amount of drugs, the only way you can reduce your sentence is to implicate or setup someone else. A desperate father tries to setup someone to help reduce his son's sentence.
A good film - lots of action, but convincing story line and very real dealers in this one compared to the one above...

FWIW I was checking the warranty on a Lenovo laptop lately - it was confirmed (online and per telephone) with just the model and serial number. On that basis I got a replacement battery sent out.

^I was curious how coffee is decaffeinated. I find I often dont react well to the dacafs I've tried but that could be more to do with me than the coffee.
Came across this site talking about the various processes - methods are interesting, worth a read:
How is coffee decaffeinated?

(FWIW apparently they're aiming to produce a GMO decaf coffee.)

Further OT...
Not happy,Edvard!!!! Just followed your link and my initial happiness turned to dismay when I saw that a "care less"defender wroe " It's too wide OF a word." (emphasis mine).
English was a fairly good language - maybe not the best, but up there, until the Americans got their hands on it.
I'm going to take an aspirin and have a good lie down.

not like yous Australians done anything funny with English - nor us Irish neither :D
Mind you, there's a lot of native (England) English speakers that most of us would have little hope of understanding. Not knocking them, I love the diversity of language and accents myself. Any attempt to pigeonhole any language can never fully succeed, so I suppose having a good lie down probably *is* the best approach to grammatic 'errors'...

LOL! Iain, you're a treasure-house!

plus one there -
I couldnt stop laughing at the "George The Would-be King Bush" one :D

I think I like the code one best, because it nails other people than just Bush to the humor tree. Plus it sounds like the kind of awesome thing that could be a great party joke etc.

I'm not sure if I fully understood the intention of the last one, but I really enjoyed it too.
Is the punchline delivered completely innocently? (in which case we're also laughing at George's simplicity) -
or is it a fully barbed dig at [at least one] Clinton?

Either way, Clinton seems to come out "the worser" at the end of it.

Just in case you have no idea what disgruntled players look like...

https://www.facebook...osts/638679509479839

Care to summarize? Some of us don't have Facebook accounts. And never will. :)

I was going to post a screenshot but I'm not sure of, eh, the etiquette :-) - is it okay to post people's thumbnails from FB etc.

Summary:
the message from "SimCity Social" is:
For players who have enjoyed our games, we will be making a special offer to introduce you to a PopCap game.
You’re a valued fan and we want to make sure you get a smooth transition to PopCap.

the response from *everyone* and their mother is very upset, and/or impolite - the general vibe is it's the end of the world for "SimCity Social".
And all those negative posts are getting hundreds of thumbs-up's (one has 477).

It's very entertaining - having a FB account has it's compensations ;)
