... and items can be added for any reason or no reason.  As long as there is perceived 'offense'.  And they are removed for...  I'm at a loss.

Yup.

But it's predictable. Anything to start a conflict where there was none before, or to open old wounds, or to throw gasoline on a real conflict.

Invent a victim. Dig up a victim. Find a victim.

Order doesn't matter - just whatever works at the time.

Otherwise, what the hell good is it if it can't make headlines?

*sigh*

The best thing would be if after all of this blew over, he turned around and said...

"See!  Exactly what I said in the article... happened.  Grow up people!  Realize what's going on!"

But more strangeness...

And something to lighten the mood...

Not nearly as convoluted a rule set than what American Football subjects you to.

Convoluted?  American Football?  Hmmm...  :o

I don't get it. Is it Libba Brary? Or is the Butcher Skin Game the joke?

Look at the titles of the books stacked up behind it...

But, I'm just dreaming... It would be entertaining to see though!

It's a comedy, however.  And it looks like a bad comedy.  Like I said, it's just better to ignore it.

As far as movies about assassinating the POTUS...

My complaint is that the flash sales on GOG end at weird times. I saw something on sale the other day, it looked interesting from the "box" art, but I'd never heard of it so I watched the trailer for it and was convinced that I should buy it. When I added it to my cart, the sale had ended. This was at something like 20-25 minutes after the hour. I would have expected a sale to end on the hour, or at least in half-hour intervals. Not at 6:22 (for example).

That really annoyed me.

My complaint towards that one... their ajax sucks.  Steam always updates.  GoG is more problematic.  New things were on sale on GoG on a page I had open, and it still showed the old things with Expired :-( in the time left... and didn't show the new items at all until I manually refreshed.  With such short turnaround, that's sucks.  And they did it for the insomnia sale... when it was over, they automatically refreshed the available items.

There is an animated gif attached to that post, with a special spaghetti fork.

Ah!  I see it now... told you I probably missed something :)

Ok... it's just for strange stories like this that I love the entertainment industry.  Watching their real life antics is more popcorn worthy than some of their works!

So, there's this Seth Rogen and James Franco movie coming out called The Interview.  I like Seth Rogen.  I like James Franco.  But if I'm real- they've been sort of hit and miss with their movies.  This one seemed pretty much a miss, and when released, would have probably sunk like a heavy stone.

...but then you add in Kim Jong-un...

North Korea says Seth Rogen's new movie is an 'act of war' (via The Verge)

North Korea denounces James Franco and Seth Rogen's Kim Jong Un movie (via The LA Times)

I think he's just given them a lift from the publicity.  Sometimes, people just don't know when to shut up.

Living Room / Re: FCC ruling on ringtones is... shortsighted
« Last post by wraith808 on June 25, 2014, 02:14 PM »
To go back to the short sighted part... here's a better (though not perfect) wording that would have closed at least some of the loopholes.

"Until the connecting provider is contacted, no response can be given to the dialer.  At the point that it is contacted, but no handshake is completed- silence or a message may be played, that may or may not identify the receiver of the handshake.  Only at the time that the terminating provider has completed the handshake can an audible ring be played."

I didn't mean that the ruling might not be needed (though in the times that its personally affected me, I've remained on the call until VM picks up because everyone I know has it), but that the wording of the ruling was short-sighted and didn't look at the realities of the technology and what was going on.

I think there was perhaps a bit too much flash in their flash sale. The free offers were on for such a short time that I didn't manage to pick any of them up.

Edit: reading the previous posts after posting, this should just have been a +1 instead :-*.

I think you helped to hit the nail on the head of the problem for me.  With steam... it's in multiples of 8 hours for things changing.  You can predict.  I *still* haven't figured out how these gog sales are scheduled.  I know they're shorter than 8 hours.  So at some point it becomes... meh, I'll get them if I get them.

Same problem with the insomnia sale they ran a while back.  With no set (reasonable) timetable, people can't plan.  They're good ideas in theory, but the execution has fallen a bit short...

It's saddening to see it going this way for him.  He's got the big guns lining up... (via washington post)

... people missed the point.  And I still don't see why actors give interviews about anything other than... acting.  A 9 hour interview sliced up with the juiciest parts to get people frothing.  You can still see the point if you look hard enough, and realize that it was slanted.  But... no one does.

Shia Lebouf is back... and in a... surprisingly good looking movie.  Of course, it's got Brad Pitt in it too...

Of course, that doesn't mean he's out of the woods with his strangeness. (via The Guardian)

...and of course, there's that apology for filming on remembrance day (even though they'd been told before hand it would be happening).

Exactly.  And I didn't really view it as nit-picking... seems valid to me!  I actually almost bought something once the ticker had expired because of this particular glitch.

But when I went to check out, that first item was off sale and showing up in the cart at its regular price.

Yeah... steam is friendlier in this regard.  They put big orange letters that something in your cart has changed in price, and put an asterisk beside it.

So at this point, about the only doable short-term semi-solution is to light a fire under these bigger players.

But how does that part of the ruling do this?  As I talked about, instead of a ring... and instead of silence... you instead get a recording.  The recording is serving the same function as the ring.  And has the same problems.

That's what I meant about short-sighted.

You only wish! :P ;D You're on the list for at least a half dozen reasons! :P
