Screenshot Captor / Re: Sharpen image feature in SSC
« Last post by mouser on June 14, 2016, 09:01 PM »
It should be said, that SSC is rarely the right tool for doing this kind of image manipulation and conversion.  Those features are there so you don't have to use a 3rd party tool for quick and dirty operations.

But there are some superior and excellent free image viewer/manipulation programs that are better suited when you want to manipulate non-screenshot files, like:

Ugh that's terrible -- I'm so sorry to hear that.  It sounds like there is nothing to do but plow forward and do it, and things will get better after you are settled.

There is also an option to enable/disable this on the Capture Options tab.

it works fine if you take an image using capture in SSC but not an image from external source.

this doesn't sound right.  i wonder -- how are you getting the file into SC? Maybe you are making a COPY of it in SC and then checking the original and not seeing the changes?

Mouser, isn't nice for you, to see all these "virtual" friends of yours writing to share your grief?

Inestimably.

Both with the death of my father, and my cat a couple of years ago, the messages I've received on this forum have been the one thing that has truly helped calm me down.  It has meant so much to me.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and nice wishes.

The memorial for my father is this coming saturday.. I won't be online much between June 16-25th, but I will be back with a vengeance at that time.

I recently had the need to extract a few dozen video clips from about a terrabyte of videocamera mp4 files (broken up into 3gb files), and went looking for a simple free tool that could load the videos and help me extract smaller clips from them in an easy manner.

I thought it was worth a post for others who may one day find themselves needing the same type of tool.

The one i ended up using is the free (open source) Avidemux: http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/

It has a very clean minimalist user interface, is fast, and does a great job of letting you select regions to extract and save.

Not perfect, but highly recommended if this is the kind of thing you need to do.

Can you elaborate a little on how you would use such a prefix.. which files would you keep unique to the pc and which would you want shared?

Thanks for the post Iain.

I will do the following in short order:
1. Add a new option to CHS to cusotmize the "Browse Image Directory" tool (I thought I had already done this but maybe not) so that you can use MousersMediaBrowser(MMB) for exploring clip image directory.
2. Make MMB work if you pass it a file name (like you did above when you got the error) and have it open the containing folder and select the image passed -- so you can use it as you attempted.

It should be remembering your margins.
I've tested it here and it is remembering them.
If you set to something higher than 1 does it remember in that case?

I get the feeling these companies deny the initial claim just to see if the person will actually fight it.
yep, absolutely common practice.

I'll just add one thing for those who aren't familiar with TeamViewer -- at least when i set up mine by default TeamViewer itself created a random password for remote access (rather thank asking me to type one in) and it was SIX characters long (and i believe it's just uppercase, lowercase, and digits).

So it would be entirely plausible that a brute force attack would be able to guess passwords.

Thankfully I do not leave TeamViewer running, and have only used it on occasion when traveling.  I have also set a long passphrase, so I should be ok, but I'll probably avoid using TeamViewer for a while just to be safe.

that's pretty neat looking.
