Can I get rabies from a megabyte?

Actually, I'm ending up writing the queries in a text editor and pasting it into Developer because I prefer the highlighting and code folding features of most editors better than these integrated things.

I think that's why f0dder suggested Notepad++ earlier. I use Emedit for much the same thing/reason. I write the query in the syntax high-lighted editor and then paste it into a command prompt (CLI client connection) - Usually with all activity dumpted to a text file for later review. (But that's for MySQL stuff)

App I think you missed that this was a joke -- the joke was the idea that the ipad would get heavier the more books you add.  :P

And here I thought the joke was Renegade was seriously considering buying another Apple product.

I was just trying to talk him down off the roof. :P

Impact Resistant Plastic ... It Just Works! (to a point...)

Damnit ...I had to watch that whole video, just to find out what color the freaking crayon was.

I didn't think I'd need to say the answer since Harold and the Purple Crayon was a staple of my childhood.  My children have read the books numerous times too.  My apologies :)

Quite alright, I was actually just poking a bit of fun at myself for being stymied by a crayon.
4581
Ken and Watson were tied at $3400 and the question was Harold and the blank crayon.  Any child knows the answer, but Watson buzzed in first and got the $1000, making it seem like he had won handily.

Damnit ...I had to watch that whole video, just to find out what color the freaking crayon was.

Purple ...(damn crayon was purple)... I feel better now - Zoiks, that would have bugged me all night!

mmm
Is the purpose of this experiment finding a way to eliminate the journalist from the credits so that it can easily be replaced? Resulting on being able to pay a ridiculously low wage. If the task is paid at 1 cent and takes 1 minute each task, the payment is 60 cents an hour.

I'll admit at first blush it does sound cruel and callous, But! If it was used properly (*Snicker*) to replace say the upper-class banking Moguls (that just boned us and the economy) ... Then by golly by gum I say that's right fair pay for the work what was done!

As for donations between members and taking a portion of that for the site -- when the donationcredits systsm first went live -- some portion of donations always went to the site and the rest into the users account to do with as they please.

But what was found is that people so rarely get involved in giving their donations to specific people, that the far better and simpler solution is to just say that anyone who is willing to specifically donate to a specific user on the site, should just be allowed to do that purely, and no need to try to take some portion of those donations.  People who are involved enough in the site to be making donations to specific people will already donate to the site if they feel like it.

Understood, but if it's a fundraiser/for-a-good-cause folks tend to get more involved ... Because there is now a something to be a part of taking place. There are some folks that don't have anything to work with/funds to donate for various reasons from the obvious economy to just being to scared to stuff their CC info into a webpage.

Hell if I had to take money out of the house account right now I'd have to either skip a few meals or walk to work a few days next week. But! I do have a schekel or two in donations that could be moved around a bit without effecting household financed (or the wife's permission...;)) in the slightest. So...

I could either (say for example) donate $50 directly to the site, or I could donate $10 to each of 5 members and the site would get ($25) half of the transacted funds. But by doing it this way, it now allows the 5 members in question to "Get Involved" in the "Game" because they now have a string-less stake of $5 each to play with.

It has been said that the key to the economy is to get-the-money-moving ... So we just make a game out of it.

that shows Cody's banker-looking Uncle (never before seen on a DC mug) sitting on top of a huge pile of his gold coins, thumbing through his bank book.
Isn't that the image of everything we stand against...?

What if the existing donations system was leveraged to work both ways. So that donations between members are split (say 50/50) with the DC. So if say I gave 40Hz a $10 donation, he would actually get $5 and the other $5 would go to DC.

Granted it would have to be time limited and made very (very) clear as to why/what was happening. But it could be an interesting way of greasing all the wheels at one time (so-to-speak).

3) the various tools available on the HDD manufacturers sites, (pretty much all of which are on UBCD)

Given the tendance of the various manufacturers to get cute with how what error is reported. I generally tent to stick with this option. Boot to the manufacturers Diagnostic CD and let it sort out the drives "health" (Else they tend to miss...). Only one I've see that does well a giving a (/an acurate) conclusive yes/no answer is the Hitachi diagnostic disk.

I am using Easylist as well.

Hm... does yours feel a bit slower also? Even after a reboot (which I seldom do/required by the install) to seems that I'm waiting noticeably longer for the pages to be rendered. It was definitely quicker before the RC/TPL.

I tried the beta and it was horrible. I had to uninstall it.  :-\

I'll wait for a bit then see what people have to say.

Horrible in what way?

Now that is a cleaver idea.

...And they have an installer-less 27KB Corporate/Lite version!

It turned off (via hotkey) both of the monitors on my Win7 x64 box just fine.

Shit, this is the coolest thing I've seen all week!!!

Okay, Posting from IE9 RC :)

I decided to go with the EasyList TPL, (basically) because I recognized the AdBlock name it was tied to. So... We'll see how that works out.

My ieSpell addon is still working (this is good...!)

@Josh - Which (if any) TPL did you go with?

Also, how about creating a special user rank for people who donate certain amounts (Like atm we have "Supporting Member" and such) you could have something to show the level they have donated.

The Supporting Member label/rank is subtle, and I think better for it. Making too much of a hub-bub about who donated what tends to hamper the relaxed feel of a place.

Also...I think there should be something like "If We Raise $10000 During the fundraiser, Mouser will strip to his underwear and run through the streets screming 'I LOVE CODY, CODY IS THE BIRD GOD'" (This has to be recorded and uploaded to the website for all to see as proof!)

Should probably limit that to something that would leave the man with at least a shred of dignity... :)

If mouser launches the "Reply of the Month" I'd vote for that... to stop Cranioscopical winning the whole

Bad idea, I need that like I need a whole in the head.

Nope, Sorry, Not allowed to pop-off in here until after you've gone to the OP link and been issued your proper silly name ... We have to mind the rules, or society will fall assunder.

Its a shame that it is illegal to help humans but also illegal NOT to help pets in the way in the UK.

Same here in the US - But being humane to each-other is (i guess) too much to ask of our species...

Sorry for your loss. My wife is taking one of our dogs (17yr old Boston Terrier) to the vet today to discuss his current "quality-of-life".

IE9's release candidate is looking promising. I am giving it serious thought to moving back to IE if IE9 turns out to be as good as this RC is showcasing.

I've been using the IE9 betas at home for so long I can't even remember when I started (6 or 8 month, or more). I'm quite happy with it so far, and hope to have time to install the RC this evening.

@timns - Research mainly. You start looking into something and the research branches, and something else comes up, and again.... (etc.) Next thing you know there are 75 plus tabs open on 8 different instances of the browser. ...And that's just on a "normal" day.... ;)

I use IE for all my most important stuff that matters.

FF is my workhorse for 99%.

I'm confused, if you're using FF 99% of the time, what "important" stuff are you doing in IE?

Chrome just flat out irks me...So I use IE for everything. But it is a bit of a bummer to see FF slipping so much here lately, I rather liked it...Never used it much...But I liked it.

So... do I go with the one I can't pronounce, or should I just stick with Bitch-Queen?!?
