I agree that there is no reason to upgrade from Babylon 6. In my memory it was the version that I liked the most.

Avanquest offered me some fine CDs from Berlitz, to learn to speak the Spanish language. But as usual they forgot to tell that the offer wasn't valid outside of the U.K. But of course Avanquest USA has the same product: http://www.avanquest...r-mac&-win-27393 and the $40  they take  is almost the same as the £20  I was offered to pay.

Version 1.8.8 is available. Still no 64-bits version, nor any Win 7 version. You may want to untick "eBay shortcuts" during installation.

Unlocker 1.8.8 - 26/10/2009

- Improved behavior: Improved the way DLLs are unloaded.
- Promotional feature: Added fully optional shortcuts to eBay during the installation. Simply untick "eBay shortcuts" in the choose components page during install if you do not wish to have those.

I have a license for Babylon (5, 6, 7, and 8.), but as time has gone by I have given up on it. New Babylon versions doesn't *improve*, they merely gets different. Today I use WordWeb Pro 6.

- oh, I forgot:

Theory versus Real Life:

Theory: UAC is a good idea.
Real Life:
Curt to girl friend: "Did you install the security program I gave you?"
Girl friend: "No, Windows the computer said it was dangerous"

That is Real Life!

Edited: I forgot the initial line:
"I am on Vista, and doesn't yet have Win 7"
---
Does UAC on Win 7 not have a "quiet mode", like Vista has?
Snap from WinAbility:

TweakUAC-main-screen.png

I don't believe UAC ever was invented to help the user. UAC is exactly like the EULA; it is there so that in case there ever will be a trial, they can claim, "oh, but we told you so!" And that is of course all the UAC as well is for. It was solely invented so Microsoft can keep their back in the clear no matter what ugliness gets into your computer: "Oh, but we told you so!". I have not seen the UAC pop-up since the day I installed the TweakUAC™, and I never looked back. Of course, I then have other programs to do the necessary job, but they also do it much better than I could do it. Because as it was said earlier in this thread, after a while, with UAC,  you just confirm  without reading what it is you are confirming.

I don't know if any of these UAC tweakers are ready for Win 7.

Regarding the Control Panel. It is a good idea to have it show up as a menu, rather than as a shortcut. My Vista was installed by a third party company, which, if you will forgive me the hight, gave me this quite awesome control panel menu (in Danish):

Found Deals and Discounts / Re: AudialsOne on offer

let me repel you just a little (more). I tried the feature "search cover, ID tags and lyrics". I didn't get a single set of lyrics, and the already perfect tags had their leading zero removed (but was otherwise kept intact).

You may have an insane huge amount of money, but I don't. If I want some music, I will have to get it from my ISP, (for "free", as part of my contract), as drm encoded 192 kbps wma files. I have some 30.000 files of that kind, so drm removal is extremely important to me. So important that it *almost* doesn't matter to me what else the program can do or not do. I have still not tried any of the other features the program has, but of course I am going to use the radio part a lot. I already had some 3.000 audio files from the late Radio Bluegrass (who died a year ago), and I am eager to get some more music that I otherwise never would get to hear. This is a very important part of downloading streams, I think; the chance to get to hear (and have) music you otherwise never would have heard (or purchased).

Aimersoft Music Converter, Daniusoft Media Converter, DrmRemoval, Tunebite AudialsOne, and Wondershare Media Converter were most likely from a coder.

---
The exaggerated statements may not apply to ....

I should not have included AudialsOne in that attack. When it comes to drm removal, AudialsOne is clearly superior to the others! I purchased AudialsOne some six hours ago, only because of the drm removal features! Since then, I have eaten, watched some tv, and drm-removed 300 music files! It is almost AWESOME! High Quality (multible passes) converting is done with up to 14 files at the same time. Fourteen! But if you click High Speed converting (single pass) it will convert up to 28 files at a time. TWENTY-EIGHT!! None of the other drm removing converters is in that league!

AudialsOne can do a lot of other things; drm removal is merely a minor side effect, but I have not yet tried any of it. I solely purchased the program for this single feature, this fantastic blazingly fast drm removing converter!!

But you will have to hurry up, if you want to get the discount; it expires together with the rest of the week. By the way, the normal price of this program is €60, reduced on offer to €45, then converted by Avanquest to £35. You can have it for £20. This is a fine deal, I think, if you need to free a lot of audio files from drm protection. Well, it is a fine deal anyway! But I need to point out that the normal price includes twenty mp3 files, that are not included in this deal. Somehow this seem wrong.

Edited:
I forgot to tell that you may keep the program if you don't want to purchase it. With fewer features, of course.

also, google is supposed to index uptodate only versions of webpages,

I cannot think it is like that. On the contrary, I believe! To the best of my (lack of?) understanding, Google will NEVER give a genuine here-and-now up-to-date answer to your queries, but will at any time "merely" search its own servers for what already has been indexed. Otherwise a search would take for ever.

12.000 seconds, to scan & compare My Pictures. Well, I ASSUME (calculated). I didn't actual perform the grand test. Instead I tested on a slim folder with ten almost identical photos. VSC is  S L O W , indeed, but the result was accurate.

Quite good for a 734 kb program that hasn't been updated for more than four years
(but yet is running well on Vista).

- yes, I've tried MeeSoft Commander very recently, and because of your post I've tested it once more, today. I still don't like it. Given the size (and the price), it is quite an advanced file manager, but it also is a 'pita' to use. I don't think it is any faster or slower than most of my other dup-finders - but of course, I don't search for binary duplicates!

The first time that I tried to scan for image duplicates, I got curious and deliberately turned up the "similarity/difference-percentage" way too much, to 19% (default is 9%), to see what would happen. And surely there were many results: 4.700!! But I was thinking, How is the user supposed to know what percentage to choose? If I have two identical photos but one is 1024x768 and the other is 800x600, how big is then the difference, in percent? The program doesn't give much help on anything, neither on this.

I re-started the program and repeated the test, now with the setting "1%", and half an hour later the result was perfect. It has to be said, or even repeated: It is a high quality program. But still I don't like it.

Facebook Fixer
-CWuestefeld (May 11, 2009, 01:31 PM)

I installed Facebook Fixer only yesterday, and already it I am going to remove it because of lack of updates... so to speak. It shows both wrong birthdays and zodiac signs.
Has anyone else the same problem?  :tellme:

Facebook Fixer, Inline Google Player, Yuosable TubeFix, Anti-Disabler, YouTube HD Suite, Add The "I'm Feeling Lucky" Button, and Google Tracking-B-Gone, are my scripts. At least three of these seven needs regular updating.

I used to have a couple more scripts, regarding Google and YouTube, but they were not updated, and lost their effect. The same thing will eventually happen to some of those that I have now - Google and YouTube are changing the codes very often.

First slightly exaggerated statement: "The interface is almost a standard design; looks very much like all the other programs from this author!" Second slightly exaggerated statement: "Wherever you come across yet another program that will offer to remove DRM protection you are likely to find they probably all was made by one and the same author."

Aimersoft Music Converter, Daniusoft Media Converter, DrmRemoval, Tunebite AudialsOne, and Wondershare Media Converter were most likely from a coder.

The exaggerated statements may not apply to SoundTaxi or FairUse4WM, but for some reason I don't dare to test these.

- okay, then.

But being at a coder's site, one must ask if there is anything "we" can do to add such a code, if it is missing?

I would expect the extra search result text to come from the full text, created when someone was reading the full text while Google was indexing.

I was sleepy and made 7-zip my default zip operator, by mistake. I prefer Vista to once again be the one opening my zip containers, in Explorer, but I cannot figure out to reset the option; it isn't explorer.exe. How & where, please?
