"A certain government agency in town actually purchased 645 of these chairs, for [use] nationwide," he says. "Tremendous amount of demand."
"Tremendous amount"? Err... Moving right along...

I actually thought 'nation wide' was the relevant quote ;D ;D ;D

I can confirm that I also received confirmation emails for both stages of the process.

we'll have to wait and see what, if anything, actually comes in the post

Perl would do it. It's overkill, but you'll have a tool that can do just about anything.
If you're on Windows, download the latest from http://strawberryperl.com

I know nothing about perl, but I'm curious why strawberry perl

Does it better than most adults I've seen... and without a stuntman!

if we all had tyres like that the roads would be a much funnier place  (and we'd ALL be stuntmen)

Posted already

my bad - I knew I'd seen it today but couldn't for the life of me find where (I was cross posting to another forum where it was particularly relevant)

I don't know what your folder structure looks like but could you break it up into smaller lots?

that's similar to what I've got (Z77 mobo, 16GB RAM, ATI 7870 video card, 256MB SSD) and it cost me close to 1400 sans display and case so I'd be surprised if you couldn't do better for the money.

that said, and FWIW, it's coming up 2 years old and it still does everything I want (though I'm nowhere near the bleeding edge game wise)

never quite understood the whole crossfire thing though.  Unless you've got money to burn the numbers just don't add up, especially for a 'budget' rig

you're referring to irukandji which are pretty much confined to the tropical north, ie there's an awful lot of coastline where you don't have to worry about stingers.  And for the most part the snakes and spiders aren't great beach goers

it's all relative - I don't know how people live in a place where carrying personal weapons is an accepted norm

I'm no expert here but unless it's extreme I suspect temperature isn't necessarily a good measure.

obviously it needs to be monitored but I was always of the understanding that it was the hot/cold cycle that does the damage, so using a data centre where everything runs at a pretty steady rate 24/7 isn't going to give you a good comparison (unless perhaps you're looking to build a data centre ;D)

And while there are going to be natural variations between components (see the graph in the previous post) I would assume a higher but steady temp in a stable system was 'acceptable' unless it was extreme.  Sudden spikes or significant increases over time would be cause for concern, otherwise...

General Software Discussion / Re: 4 (Maybe more) Absolute top go-to programs
« Last post by Target on May 13, 2014, 06:59 PM »
Heh wow this is turning into an awesome thread! There's some *forty* programs combined of which each is part of someone's list of four(ish) super must have programs!

what this thread needs is for someone to consolidate the list into something that's readily accessible/digestible, something like...

  • program 1 (10 votes)
  • program 2 (9 votes)
  • program 3 (6 votes)
  • etc...

the ideal would be for Tao to edit his first post to incorporate the 'results' (hint hint...)

That reminds me of being stuck in a doctor's office with a loud tv set; it's possibly justifiable when there are others present, but not when I'm the only one in the waiting room.  At times like that, I find myself wishing I had a universal tv remote control hidden in my shoulder bag.

google for TV-B-gone...

right now it cuts by nnn characters
is it possible to make it cut back TO nnn characters instead?

should be possible, though there is a likelyhood that you'll end up with nonsense filenames.  And what do we do where the path is the offending portion of the string (eg path lengths of 175+ characters)?

is it possible to make this as a plug-in for Directory Opus (or work as a toolbar button)

I don't use dopus so I can't help with this, but plenty here do so someone else may be able to advise

is it possible to add this to shell:sendto context menu.
meaning:
I would select a number of files, then select context menu "Maim The File" - and 'send' the files to Main The File so they are then cut back as per settings saved in Maim The File.

possibly... it could certainly be added to the context menu, but what you're asking for is more of a batch operation which is something I'll have to look into...

(Maim - what does this stand for?)

to maim is to injure such that a permanent disfigurement results.  It was a play on words given the potential for damage when renaming files

Or in case of Photoshop, should that not .giffed children?

DOH!!  I feel like I've just been png'ed

That's funny. But could be considered a photoshop fail. Look at the book's spine. (c:

ahhh, but is that proof of a photoshop fail, or that the method doesn't work?
