General Software Discussion / Re: Windows 10 Announced
« Last post by rgdot on June 02, 2015, 02:25 PM »
Wasn't Windows 10 supposed to be free?  lol.

I wouldn't worry too much.  Just leave your machine up and connected to the net overnights.  One morning 10 will just be there.  ;)

Phones later I think.

"Reserve"?  ;D and already?

Free? May not be listed but the exe is the same, you just get less storage and less features for free

But you have to be able to make the account.  I have an account, and can still login as my free account.  But it's been removed from the options if you don't already have one from what I can see.

Account creation is part of (during) the install process. For me it was anyway.

Thanks, never tried to drag a folder for it like that.

Why awkward?  :tellme: It is very much in a Dropbox (Sync folder, etc.) concept as far as I can see.

Long awaited

Hi,

I'm Gyorgy, one of the Tresorit founders. We've launched our service more than 2 years ago. Since then, Tresorit evolved into one of the market’s most respected, secure cloud storage services. We have significantly advanced data security, helping thousands of users stay productive.

I'm happy to say that we have finally released Tresorit for Linux. Please take the time now to take it for a spin.

Get Tresorit for Linux here >>

We're currently putting the finishing touches on the app, but aside from a few convenient features, you can store and sync your files securely. You can learn more about the Tresorit for Linux release on our support page.

We look forward to your feedback and are especially interested in knowing what additional features are priorities for you.

Many thanks for being a beta user of Tresorit for Linux.

This kind of thing will never work, doesn't matter how they word it or not. I remember a similar case many years ago, trying to remember who it was. Almost similar wording about IP of stuff through their network.

Spoiler
It's going so well mouser can fly us over to DC HQ

Welcome  :)

DC is indeed great and the recent numbers up near the logo are one important testament to that.

How does this work?
Does the site "still try to load", or does it crash "hard and fast"?

Rather than SomeNaughtySite, I'd want to put in stuff like Something.Google.com that besides the tracking concerns, seems also to be a slow load component on a lot of sites.

The status bar on the bottom of browsers is really useful to tell you the random things a page tries to load. So if I used this to chip in a bunch of things, maybe that will speed up my browsing?

"127.0.0.1 [TAB] [website you have entered]"

Site just doesn't load or more precisely it redirects/connects to localhost

I have seen variations of this issue over the years, many but not all were fixed by one:

A reset of the WP permalinks, just click save without doing anything
Make sure home site and url are the same including the www in WP's general settings

Server side caching on a server that doesn't even seem to have a control panel? You probably need to use phpinfo uploaded via FTP to get some php and other version info. Something like wwww.domain.com/cpanel or serverip:8443 doesn't exist?

People's stupidity has brought us to this point. You think people don't or wouldn't blame the browser makers/authors if they get infected?
467
Great thing about DC is that at least one can debate such a thing.
Like I said before I wasn't bothered by the bar. Buttons won't be as effective, especially being in the footer but obviously if bar didn't bother me the buttons don't either.
468
I don't have a problem with it, simple blue bar on the bottom is nothing compared to other things I have seen

Thanks.

I won't comment anymore, because it might seem I have a beef, which is not even close to reality :)

Bill P recently sold WinPatrol.  There was a big deal made on the transition about picking someone who would continue the same traditions yadda yadda.  I'm not really bashing the new developer trying to make a few $$.  It's just that everything seems to be trending to having a meter attached.  People with longer names will change them to short ones because when they sign something online they will be charged per keystroke.  Pay toilets won't have a coin box on the door but on the toilet paper dispenser.  Pull on the roll and watch your bankroll dwindle.

It's like the bean counters are going to nickel and dime us all to death.  Every gimmick and angle will be exploited.

As far as I am concerned that's still the equivalent of what I said, I believe it's been only a few months since the sale

Holding out as long as he could is nice, as mentioned numerous times by many people he is one of the nicer guys.
Having said that I will not hide the feeling that I dislike license changes, no matter who does them. Hosting and developing software has always been a challenge, even someone like me who doesn't do it has seen it many places, it's not a new thing and has nothing to do with greed or lack there of it either.
My point being, I rather see something start as (a wow that's expensive) shareware from the start than free then not free after X years.
