rjbull, I am actually looking for a vritual driver rather than an application that does one job. But I will check out xpdf, thanks for recommendation
455
rjbull, why do you think colorizing can be done only by word processors? Most of the text editors offer code highlighting, this I assume means these apps can colorize any text, they just need little different coloring rules to eachieve what I am looking for. I was just looking for a a new way to create structrured relationships inside any text block basically.

Btw based on features listed on those pages I do not think any of these can do what I am looking for. I am not looking for colorizing a selection(having it would be nice) but really I would not spend money just to colorize some selection.

Btw Emeditor offers quite a bit of features, it sounds pretty cool.

Thanks but I do not like online solutions when it comes to this kind of stuff. Nothing is free, especially the online services that offer free stuff will cost you more than you think they do.

Why not just use an online converter?

cmpm, I do not think these can print TEXT. These are pdf printers. I have bullzip here and it does not print text. It prints pdf and images.

General Software Discussion / Looking for a text editor that can colorize text
« Last post by kartal on April 29, 2009, 09:33 PM »
Hi

I guess today is my wanting day. :) I am looking for a general purpose text editor that relies mostly on coloring text to improve readability and usability. I will be using for browsing text or code. What I am looking for is not code highlighting though(might be part of he deal ). I want this editor to be able to recognize indents, tabs, groups, occuring sentences, words, grammar rules etc and color them either randomly or based on predefined rules. For example one paragraph could be orange the next one would be dark blue etc.

Once I improve my coding I will write one myself but I need one right now :)

Sorry for being vague. I guess I meant using a printer driver to extract formatted text or somewhat formatted text. For example I have some pdf documents that I want to convert to text. Now I found an application that does it (generally does a bad job) , but that works only on printed pdf documents. What I am looking for a Free generic printer driver that might be able to work on any app that supports printing.

@fenixproductions

I saw that one and tried but I could not get to any place. Because the first part of the tutorial is missing. I am not sure what kind of port I am supposed to use for example. When you use printer wizard the first image is not the first window that comes up. I tried couple ports and they gave error.

BartelsMedia, is it supposed to work under winxp64? I am just trying the free version and I am getting neither learning nor auto completion.

Edit: Sorry there was little confusion, auto completion works(manually entered) but learning does not work.

thanks

I have triple boot on my macbook pro, mac-xp-ubuntu. All works great expecially Ubuntu worked right out of the box without needed any Mac drivers for the hardware. Under windows you definetely need Apple drivers to use sound, camera etc

I use Pyscriptter already, but what I am looking for teaching words to the editor not just imported module completion. I know I can use outside programs but I have enough stuff running in my system already :)

Have you tried PyScripter (free)? If I recall correctly, it does code completion for all the included modules, not just the current file. I haven't really used it though, since my Python education has

The link to alpha7 is dead.

Since I use Python I cannot use SkyIDE much but it is really getting there, this is going to be one of the nicest looking free IDE out there. It also looks like there are alot of tools for developers inside .

I block everything(cookies, scripts, flash cookies etc)  a server might request or wants to serve. If I am desperate to see a website I open it in kmeleon, and I use kmeleon just for those purposes.

Try Xmind, it is not a mind mapping in true sense but it offers alot of stuff for free and for some it is an upgrade of freemind. I personally prefer freemind for many things but having extra visual clues in Xmind helps also.

Jussi Jumppanen,

Is it possible to get Python shell in Zeus(for interactive purposes)? It would be even better if Ipython would run inside Zeus instead of standard python shell.

And the worst media player. I own Mediamonkey and I love it. But I have a problem with its name, the name is mediamonkey but it only plays audio files.
471
I do not think there is any shame in not knowing how this stuff works. Calling it ignorance makes it like people delibaretely choose to be stupid or ignore facts. People are people and they may not know how it works, you can always educate people about how all this stuff works.

Seems like this is just a trick based on people's ignorance of how this stuff is supposed to work

General Software Discussion / Taskbar grouper?
« Last post by kartal on April 25, 2009, 07:02 PM »
Hi

Does anyone know of any software that would let me group open windows on taskbar by date, time, name, application, size etc? I know there are bunch of taskbar maintain-shuffle kind of stuff but I use alot of windows and they are kind of useless for me since grouping and regrouping takes time. I use taskix at the moment which is ok but no grouping is provided. I also hate windows taskbar group way.

thanks

I think if you are a real tech head you would never even let this site to tell you where you have been, they are using a trick to get you browsing history?
