Dont see the problem :P
They're all words in everyday use (somewhere). Why not include them?

I guess the negativity is to do with the dumbing down of language (and entertainment, and maybe even life in general...).

I just read a book a while ago about Shakespeare (by Bill Bryson). English was in a state of flux around 1600, changing towards what we know today. Spelling was unbelievably flexible, and based on local pronunciation - at a time when English dialects would have been a lot stronger than today (and I'd have trouble with a lot of them today). Anyways, Shakespeare 'created' hundreds of words, and changed the use of many others. He started using nouns as verbs, verbs as nouns, etc etc (my memory for details is apalling, especially when it comes to grammar). I suppose the danger now is that although there's new words being added, I suspect there's a lot more words falling out of use - everyday use, at any rate.
And if that trend accererates, yeah, then we'll have a nice, eh, simple language ;-)

This was posted yesterday. He talks about "JAWS" a screen reader - I checked it out but it's almost $900 for personal use :(
http://www.freedomsc...AWS-product-page.asp

Hi, I am a german government employee and 64 yeaers old. I am blind since 1975. Since 1985 I work with computers that have  a software called Screen Reader (JAWS=Job Access with Speech) that speaks out the written Text of the Display.

It might be worth sending Ulrich a PM though - he also says he is "in charge of a computer Club for blind people, and my hobby is the testing of software, if it can be used by blind people."
You can send him a personal message here:

I also did a search and came across this page which talks about free screen readers:

maybe add just a few lines with regards to installing/upgrading?

a) upgrading portable versions  (e.g. after unzipping the new version, what files to copy over the existing version, so it will adopt previous settings?
Personally, I guess only the ClipboardHelpAndSpell.exe should be replaced?)

b) upgrading from portable to installer version - how to proceed, specifically when the portable is installed on a different drive.
Maybe the installer version will overwrite existing database/.ini files?

Settings came up lately -
a) the portable has ini files and database in the install folder - the portable download has none of these - I copy over everything from the portable zip - settings and database are kept.
b) the install version - the setting files and the database are by default stored in the MyDocs/Donationcoder/etc folder. Below are the subfolders/files in the CH&S MyDocs folder (i.e. the installed version - but best get confirmation there of what to copy). They would need to be replaced from the portable version.

It's often hard to keep track of what happens "after":

this is about 9 months late :)
Student Richard O'Dwyer spared US extradition and jail time over TV-Shack copyright charges (zdnet.com)
(November 28, 2012)
4461
I'll reply in more detail later, when have time.  Either some don't understand (I'm not making clear) the simplicity of what I'm talking about, or got way off track.

I'm afraid it's still not clear to me what you want to be able to do with SC - do you want to cut in order to be able to paste; or do you want to cut in order to change the area that is cut?
4462
Maybe i'll combine some of these effects into one dialog: patch, interlace, pixelate, etc. and add an option to simply fill the region with a specific color.

that sounds good - would make the options more accessible too
4463
As tomos was saying i think, the SpecialFx2 menu item "Patch contents" was made to do this kind of thing.
Let me know if you guys think that i need to add something that lets user choose color instead of having the program guess it automatically.

sometimes it does give odd results:

(but I guess cmpm's suggestion would work anyway?)

HA! We were all WRONG!

The NSA actually ARE the good guys!

They ARE spying on the terrorists! Here's the proof!

^SMF looks interesting
(and - I'm not sure if they have Dopus)
4466
I think you have Directory Opus (?)

menu: Tools > Print/Export folder listing

there's possibly better ways, but you could filter for a non-existant filetype (see shot), then you'll only get folders.

You have the options to just show current columns or select which you want.

Screenshot Captor / Re: SSC 4.5 options GUI font INCREDIBLY small
« Last post by tomos on August 27, 2013, 08:36 AM »
^I just tried without and got a fright - maybe it depends on the fonts you use and the screen dot-pitch - but I'll stick with it here ;)
4468
^and how about the Drunken Master? :)

4469
I'm talking about actually removing a square or small rectangle from the image (& removing data that must be stored)
Or select what I want to cut out of the middle & keep the area around it - the opposite of cropping.  Many apps allow that.

You cant actually physically remove e.g. a square in the middle of an image - you can remove the pixels in that area, but you have to replace them with *something*.
In SC the only options I know of are:
you can replace them with a blurred or pixelated version of whatever is removed,
or delete to background colour - this option is under "SpecialFX2" menu (works best with simple images in my experience).

hi Cathie, I only skimmed the thread but didnt see anywhere the size of your monitor?

Looking at your 1st screen of SSC Options, font size in the SCREEN you posted is almost 2x my actual GUI font size (easily 1.75x).  If you're actual SSC Options font really is that big, I'd be fine w/ it.  How do I get
it?

I use a 1920x1080 HD - LED monitor.  Set Windows DPI @ 110 to make fonts on most screens plenty big.

The screenshots you post and Vurbal's have exactly the same font size - but the odd thing is that his looks a *lot* clearer.

I took two screenshots -
first is comparing my options window and your's in post #1
second is comparing Vurbal's in reply #2 and mine

Vurbal's screenshot is *much* clearer than our options-shots. As I say I only skimmed the thread - did I miss something or could it be something like his clear type settings.

FWIW, if mouser isn't going to change it in the near future, I guess your only option to increase the font is a magnifier. In Win7 the Winkey with '+' or '-' is an easy way to zoom. Dunno if that works in Vista.
4471
I use WinPatrol, but you are right they will add themselves again. And I think WinPatrol is just telling me it happened and not stopping it from happening.

WinPatrol gives you the option to disallow it (when it notifies you), but tbh I cant remember what happens if you do disallow it. Some apps will keep trying every reboot anyway. I vaguely remember uninstalling something last year because it kept trying to get in the start menu.

Just had a look - Adobe has snuck in there again all right. Wait: Codestuff Starter says Adobe Arm is enabled; WinPatrol says it is disabled. I dont see it on my list of active processes, so I hope WinPatrol is correct. WinPatrol is very lowkey, uses little memory. With the pro version you can check out processes online - has helped me figure out what's what on a couple of occasions.

Java, I uninstalled this year (yah! - in 6 months I've come acros maybe two sites that didnt work. They wouldnt have been worth it to me anyway.)

^looks classy
4473
But pls 4wd / Mouser donot get mad, okay?   :)

No worries! - he's only mad with the anti-virus companies cause they dont give a, cause they dont, eh, care enough - leading to thousands of false-positives.
4474
After deleting, selection jumps to next newest shot

i think it's jumping to the older when a newer is not in the thumbnails

yes, confirmed
4475
Works nicely now with regard to deleting files: focus moves to the file/thumbnail below the deleted one (newest is to bottom of panel).
Multiple file delete works the same way. I'm happy :-)
Thanks!!

(I used the install version)
