Living Room / Re: Changes at Kickstarter...
« Last post by Deozaan on September 24, 2012, 11:07 AM »
I wonder what the indie musicians using Kickstarter will put in as the risks for the albums they are trying to pre-sell and looking for financing to get the album released.

If the artist knows how much it will cost to produce and distribute the album, then maybe they can simply say that there is virtually no risk if the goal is met.

Living Room / Re: More Facebook Privacy Invasions

This is, perhaps, the scariest part:

Taking it a step further, look at the nature of the questionnaire. You’re being asked to report on a ‘friend’. If you say ‘I don’t want to answer’ that will be recorded – that’s the whole nature of Facebook – and it’s not hard to see that there could be a list of ‘people who don’t want to answer about their friends’. Indeed, under the terms of the Snoopers Charter, it wouldn’t just be Facebook who could access this kind of information: the authorities could potentially set up a filter to gather data on people who don’t confirm the names of their friends. It could be viewed as suspicious if you don’t answer – or even suspicious if you are friends with people who don’t answer. Again, this is the nature of Facebook’s social data – and how it could be misused.

That. Was. Horrific!  :'(

Yeah, I can't see any company having taste that bad. Not even RIM.

But... she's not making a duckface. :-\

She's hot. She doesn't need to make a duckface. You do! :P

You implied the camera was being marketed to girls. If so, they failed to do their market research, because if they had done their research properly then the model should be pulling a duckface and throwing up "gang" signs.

I tried to get online and play it with my brother but after an hour we finally gave up. I just don't understand how I could see over 700 games on there but we just couldn't see each other's game. Even though we added each other to our friends lists we didn't even see that the other person was online.

no luck with hamachi or tunngle.net? the game launched on midnite here, so no way to play unless i had skipped work.. :(

I couldn't get it to work with Hamachi, but I saw reports of others having success with it or Tunngle. But according to Twitter they should have the network issues ironed out now.

Anyone got any good stories to tell about their Torchlight 2 experience thus far?

Hopefully online play will be fixed soon.

Loved the $137 piggies. Cute.
Just saw this YouTube vid. Not being an American, I had to work to understand the peculiar references to Romney "Jen" and the campaign PR, but once I did I thought it seemed quite clever/funny. The Aussies have the term "Dorothy Dixer" for this.

Huh? There's no subtitles. That's just the original clip. Or am I missing something? :tellme:

And it's official. The engine has been released:

The day you’ve all been waiting for has arrived. The MIT licensed version of Torque 3D is now available on GitHub. For those that just want to jump in and fork or download the engine, the links to the two repositories on GutHub are listed below. Just promise to come back and read the rest of the blog, OK?

Main repository with source code and four game templates
Reference documentation repository

I've done it.

I just barely complete putting the finishing touches on a new function/method I've created and then I go to test it out and... nothing happens?

Oh yeah! Gotta put in a call to the function/method first! :-[

Also don't forget that you may have owned them before, but you probably didn't own DRM free copies of them, or Linux versions (if that matters to you). (c:

It's available right now! If your Steam client still says "Pre-Load" instead of play, simply restart Steam and it will work. :D

Necro post? That first article was written in 2005.

Perhaps, but I just came across it, and found it interesting.  Should I not post links to something that was written long ago that I come across just because its old?

That's not it. I just read it with the assumption that it was a new article about EA's Origin software (the Steam competitor) and was thrown off by all the seemingly out of date information found within the article. It wasn't until the last page when the article mentioned Tabula Rasa being in its fourth year of development that I knew for sure something was fishy.

I guess what I'm saying is that some sort of notice about the date of the article would have been nice to help prevent confusion. (c:

Very interesting reading on one of the largest acquisitions in gaming that led to the current monolith that is EA.

Ready to mess your pants? Get some Depends if you don't want to change your underwear... You've been warned... ;)

Oh carp! I didn't get my Depends!

Don't know about the first video, but that second one is a hoax: http://www.robots-dr...-revealed-video.html
Hopefully, the first one is real technology :)

The second one isn't a hoax. Quantum levitation is real. The hoax was that the Wipeout course was computer generated and not really using quantum levitation. Or at least that's what I understood from your link.
