That's a good idea, I sure would like to know other ways of organizing a browser!
Here's mine:

What's the Best? / Re: Voting & Ranking Programs in the Best Of section
« Last post by jgpaiva on February 28, 2006, 06:29 AM »
In my opinion, this would be something similar to what mouser referenced.
I'm not much for the mods removing liks for other apps, because in some cases that can have bad effects.
I.E. Imagine someone refences one app that is perfect for that person's uses, but for others is not exactlly what they are looking for. If another person comes looking for one app that works like that one, he won't find it, because the mods didn't list it in the first post.
I think that the first post should be a list, but a list with some order, that would feature the "best of" applications (i.e. the ones that get most good comments) at the top. Only because "better" is a very relative concept, it depends on the use you want for the app, and sometimes it's not easy to evaluate which app can be considered "the best".

I am a Opera user, and once i tried firefox but it broke down when i installed a few (about 20) extensions. I thought that firefox couldn't handle it, but it seems that possibly it was one of the extensions i installed that was buggy, not ff, as this guy prooved to me.

Nice!
There are some sweet games there, one for every taste.
I only thought that they would be online games, not downloadable/installable games :(

Great post LuckMan!
I go to sleep and you just start opening new great threads, that's not fair!  :tellme:
This is a great idea, but i also think we need some opinions on what will be the next thread to open. So, dear members, please go wild on this thread ;)
I like the "best defrag util". I think there already are a few threads on this one, let's see other's opinions!

Living Room / Re: Here's why I wanted to have a Desktop instead of a laptop
« Last post by jgpaiva on February 26, 2006, 01:02 PM »
I sure would like to have a desktop in some situations. Right now, I'm pretty happy with my laptop, since I'm not at my house and still have all my stuff, which is always a plus.
But laptops have the major disadvantage of not being able to expand. I'd love to have good sound and other monitors in my computer, but it takes a lot for that, since it's much more expensive to use one external sound card and impossible for me to have more than 2 monitors (i think 3 would be perfect ;) ).
But still, the next computer will be a laptop, if i haven't got the one i have right now, the portability is just something I can't loose over a few other "desires" :(

That looks sweet!
By the options dialog, I see it will have some very interesting features, I'm looking forward for LBC :D :D
If you need beta testers, count me in!
BTW, now I see why you're proud of the config dialog, it's really something, it looks like there's much pontential in it ;)
I'm looking forward for that beta :D

an image upload tool for sites like imageshack etc.
I'd live that. I've tried to configure one utility like that a few times, but had no luck, it looks like it's way beyond my knowledge. :(
But i'd love if someone could do it :D

I like the part where he gets the "esc" key from the floor. He only cares about that key because he needs it to the game :D
I'd like to understand what he says, but unfortunatelly it's german :(

Developer's Corner / Lisp IDE
« Last post by jgpaiva on February 23, 2006, 04:35 PM »
I'm going to start learning Lisp this week in university, but i found this problem.
As I'm not much informed, I'd like some information about Lisp and specially on Lisp IDEs.
I know the basics of EMACS (only a few keybindings and basic concepts), and I'm mostly convinced to use it.
But I've been told to use allegro, and also CLisp.
Can anybody give me some information so as I can get more informed?
Thanks!

I'd like to set a page with a few thousands of fake mails (i seriously hate spam, ever since it made me abandon one of my mail adresses), but I can't find a page for creation of a list :(
BTW, check this HUGE list: http://staftrak.com/trappingemails.htm

I just found this site.
There are a few sites like this, that work as decoy for spam bots.
Is this really a good way to stop spam, or just another way of losing time? ;)

Finished Programs / Re: Scrolling Other windows other than the active one
« Last post by jgpaiva on February 23, 2006, 05:25 AM »
Nice idea! Now all I need is a second monitor  ;D
You don't really need a second monitor, this works for every window, not necessarily for windows in a second monitor.
With a few tweaks, this can work like a "fast reference" script. You can press a key to activate the window and release it to return to the window you were using before. A quite useful feature ;)

Finished Programs / Scrolling windows other than the active one
« Last post by jgpaiva on February 23, 2006, 04:44 AM »
When i got myself another monitor, the feature that i looked for the most was the ability to code in one monitor and see the "what to do" list on the other monitor.
But the problem was that i had to scroll the window with the "to do list" and for that, I'd have to use my mouse, or alt-tab into it.
So, i created a ahk script to do what the ctrl+meta+v key does in emacs: scroll the other window.
This script has the ability of storing 9 windows and scroll each of them, restoring the focus to the original window after it scrolls the others.
In early times, it used MW_VSCROLL message, but that message doesn't work with adobe acrobat, so, i changed it to the "send" keys, so now it activates the window, sends specified keys to scroll the window, and reactivates the last window.
I hope you like it:

#SingleInstance, Force

;Pressing win+alt+numpad# stores the current window under #.
;For scrolling up the # window, press win+#
;For scrolling down the #window, press ctrl+win+#
KeyUp={Up} ;the Up arrow will be sent to scroll up
KeyDown={Down} ;the down arrow will be sent to scroll the window down.
;To use the page up and down to scroll the windows, replace 'up' and
;'down' by PgUp and PgDn
loop 9
{
  MMWindow%A_Index%=
  MMWinCtrl%A_Index%=
  Hotkey,!#Numpad%A_Index%, Save
  Hotkey,#NumPad%A_Index%, ScrollDown
  Hotkey,^#NumPad%A_Index%, ScrollUp
}
return

Save:
  StringRight, MMKeyID, A_ThisHotkey, 1
  MMWindow%MMKeyID% :=WinActive("a")
  MouseGetPos, , , , MMWinCtrl%MMKeyID%,
  Return

ScrollDown:
  LastWindow :=WinActive("a")
  StringRight, MMKeyID, A_ThisHotkey, 1
  MMWinID :=(MMWindow%MMKeyID%)
  MMWinCtrlID := (MMWinCtrl%MMKeyID%)
  WinActivate, ahk_id %MMWinID%
  loop
  {
    Send,{Down}
    GetKeyState, state, Numpad%MMKeyID%, P
    If state = u
      break
  }
  WinActivate, ahk_id %LastWindow%
  return

ScrollUp:
  LastWindow :=WinActive("a")
  StringRight, MMKeyID, A_ThisHotkey, 1
  MMWinID :=(MMWindow%MMKeyID%)
  MMWinCtrlID := (MMWinCtrl%MMKeyID%)
  WinActivate, ahk_id %MMWinID%
  loop
  {
    Send,%KeyUp%
    GetKeyState, state, Numpad%MMKeyID%, P
    If state = u
      break
  }
  WinActivate, ahk_id %LastWindow%
