Living Room / Re: Can't maximize windows to second monitor
« Last post by nite_monkey on March 14, 2008, 07:25 PM »
I have the monitors set up the same way they have been for the past couple of years, and with the current setup, it has worked perfectly in the past.

edit: ok, I would still like to know what the problem is, but I fixed it by moving my second monitor to the other side of my primary one, saving the settings, and then moving it back. I just wonder what caused it to do this in the first place, and how long it will stay fixed.

Living Room / Can't maximize windows to second monitor
« Last post by nite_monkey on March 14, 2008, 07:15 PM »
Recently I was doing some "organizing" on my computer (moving icons to organized folders, getting lazy and then just putting them all back where they were), and I noticed that I can't maximize windows to my second monitor anymore. When I hit the maximize button, it maximizes the window to the left half of the screen, not the whole screen. I don't have any desktop enhancement programs, other than google desktop. Though I am going to see if I can get the Nvidia properties dialog to open so that I can see if the grid thing some how got turned on or something, but I don't think that is the problem, because to use the grid, you have to hold down the alt key when you maximize the window, other wise it maximizes to the whole monitor.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here.

Edit: I don't have the Nvidia grid turned on, so it can't be that.

Can you guess what my favorite show is? If you know about my last avatar, you should know, so I am going to let you guess what it is, and not name it, but just the season and episode.

my favorite is season 3 episode 28, it is the one about yawning being contagious. wikipedia

ok, that is just pointless, I don't care what the names of the people who sign up on my website forums are, or where they live! All I need is their display name, and anything else that THEY WANT to put on their profile.

As long as Cody is a talk bubble, and Mouser is a thought bubble

Cody:So there I was, just minding my own business...
Mouser:Did I ever finish coding that last FARR update?... Oh wait, I'm supposed to be talking to Cody!

that isn't a problem, the important thing is that you have it up and running as much as you have it right now.

Thank you for reminding me about this program. I have it on my backup drive, and I forgot about it, but now I will remember it when watching videos on the internet that don't have a full screen button. ;D

General Software Discussion / Re: Are Windows Dynamic Disks Reliable?

The only experience I have had with dynamic disks is with my virtual machine, I have two virtual drives spanned to one drive. But I just did that after reading your post, I wanted to see how dynamic disks worked.

I use notepad++, and I most likely won't try editplus, because np++ works perfect for me.

I also don't use winzip or winrar, I use 7-zip.

it was doing it when he had the mouse plugged into the ps2 port with the usb to ps2 adapter, so I wouldn't think that is the problem either. I would suggest trying to install the drivers, and see if that does anything, because with me, windows likes to corrupt drivers randomly, and I have to update them, so your copy of windows might have corrupted the default drivers for the mouse, I dunno.

I figured it most likely had been mentioned before, but I decided to post it here, because I wanted to compare it to launchy, which hasn't been done on here that I know of.

"Enso launcher/words is a must for everyone!" sounds like a reccomendation to me. How does Enso compare to Launchy then?
it launches programs like launchy, and it has a built in calculator like launchy. Excuse me for using the wrong terms in public.

General Software Discussion / Enso launcher/words is a must for everyone!
« Last post by nite_monkey on February 18, 2008, 09:24 PM »
So recently I decided that I needed a launcher for my computer, because I install WAY to much crap on my computer, and then I can't remember where I put it, and I don't want to clutter my desktop with icons. What do I do? I use Launchy 2.0. That was ok for awhile, but then launchy decided that I didn't really want to run anything else on my computer, so it started to use 90% of my cpu and over 100,000 K ram NON STOP! That wouldn't do for me, so I did some googleing for an alternative to launchy, and ran across Enso. Combined with Enso words, Enso launcher is a very good universal launcher/spell checker/dictionary.
All I have to do is hold down the caps lock (who uses that key anyways?), and then type in a command, such as open vl (which by the time I type vl it has already found the location of vlc media player, and is wondering if I wanted to open that.)

I don't really need to put a screen shot of it, because I can describe it just as good.

when you hold down the caps lock key a green box pops up at the top left of the screen, and inside that box it says "Welcome to Enso! Enter a command, or type "help" for assistance."
As soon as you start typing something, it instantly starts going through its list of commands in search of what you are wanting to do.

But I might as well put up a screen shot, so:

So I never figured this out, does it do that by it self, or did you edit something that lets you run it over the 30-day trial?

Windows xp can be installed on one system only, and it can only be installed three times before you have to talk to a MS tech person that has an accent so big that you can hardly understand what they are saying.

Bottom line: ONE computer only / THREE times, then you get to talk to MS tech to re activate.
