The refresh button on the toolbar reads through the list and updates the file sizes.
an option to auto-refresh every couple of minutes would be nice

Definitely doable.

(real-time instant reporting would be even better but might be overkill).

Should be doable.

what might be really sweet is if it could highlight and report recent changes in file size, but then again im not sure i have use for this so i'm just thinking out loud.

FWIW, it would be a piece of cake to highlight changed rows during a refresh.

Agreed.  We have one, too, and love it.  It gets quite a workout during school months as my daughters get older.

How about something like this:

You can drag-n-drop or use the toolbar buttons to create any number of lists of files that can be saved.  The refresh button on the toolbar reads through the list and updates the file sizes.  Was this what you had in mind?

How do you want the size shown?  Bytes, KB, MB?  Separate columns for each?  Or just one based on size?

With ticked "Balloon tip on song change" I get annoying beeps from "Audible notification on new track" although it isn't ticked. It appears approx. at every 4th or 5th track change.

Are you certain you're hearing the tone that "Audible notification on new track" provides?  It's a three tone sound that should come from the PC speaker inside your case (not your soundcard speakers).  If you want to hear what it sounds like (and have AutoHotkey installed), save the following to a .ahk file and run it:

Code: Autohotkey [Select]

So maybe it's unicode problem. I didn't check if the player supports unicode. ^^'

Correct.  Trout, currently, does not fully support Unicode.  I have all my computers' default language set to Japanese as well as having set Japanese as the default language for non-Unicode apps.  This allows me to view kana/kanji without a problem:

That being said, yes, I'm aware that there is a branch of AutoHotkey (the language Trout is written in) that does support Unicode.  However, if it was just a simple matter of compiling the source in it and poof, Unicode works, I'd have done it long ago.  Unfortunately, it's not as simple as that.

To clarify, all you want is something like a simple listview that you can add files to and have it show their size?

This is almost certainly an ID3v2.4 issue.  Gah, I hate the ID3v2.x standard.  What a pain in the @$$ to deal with.  Let me see what I can do.

It's possible that the playback order is the order they were copied onto the thumb drive.  You could easily test this with File Bucket.  Simply add that folder and then use the up/down buttons in File Bucket to change the order, copy to drive and test.
4192
Chris, my FileBucket app might be able to help you get them on your USB stick in the order you want:

would you please change that behaviour, because the user could also CANCEL the file/folder opening window.

Good point.  Fixed.  Thanks.

General Software Discussion / Re: Shortcut Creator
« Last post by skwire on June 06, 2010, 07:15 AM »
There is a sleep command in the loop that forces a pause.  May be I can rearrange the code so that the sleep only happens if there is more than one item to make a shortcut of.
Do you have any comments, skwire?

That small of a sleep shouldn't make that much of a difference.  I put it in there as a failsafe against a user selecting many thousands of files and having their computer act unresponsive while that many shortcuts were created.  Take it out...see if anything changes for Contro.

Skwire Empire / Re: Re: Libre.fm support request

Before Bziur mentioned it, I didn't even know about it.  Libre.fm uses the Last.fm API so it was exceedingly easy to add support for it.  For the record, you can have both, either, or neither Last.fm and Libre.fm scrobbling enabled at any time.

v1.0.4 build 65 - 2010-06-05
+ Added two new File menu options.  (Thanks, Lesmo16)
        1) Clear list and add file(s)
        2) Clear list and add folder
+ Added Libre.fm scrobbling support.  (Thanks, Bziur)
+ Added a "Full screen" mode.  Default hotkey is F11.  You can also set your own hotkey for this or invoke it from the View menu.
+ Added new token "$part_of_set".  This corresponds to the ID3v2 tag TPOS and is usally used to denote which disc of a multi-disc set a song comes from.  This token can be used in the string formatting sections.  (Thanks, Lesmo16)
! Muted volume would unmute on a track change.  (Thanks, lanux128)

I hope I didn't break anything critical.  =]
