How will that work?

I've no idea. You're the coder/gamer/designer :D :P
I can see that it might be problematic - you cant 'steal' simple mouse movements I guess.
There may be other ways of implementing?
Possibly a bit complex:
Mouse + two keys (say Ctrl+Appskey) = Fire
Mouse + one of the above keys (Ctrl) = Rotate
-
that's problematic too I guess...

Gamewise, as said above, the union of the two is problematic imo. But maybe I should just look at it as a challenge!

Maybe also the option to use Left/right-arrows to rotate - that might be good -
Plus another key to shoot. That could be the keyboard alternative to the mouse.
EDIT// and eventually we could move (?) with the spacebar...

I find that the one with physics (asteroids collide with each other) is less of a challenge and less fun because:

  • Asteroids that are on a collision course with your turret will often collide into another asteroid before reaching you, changing their course so that they are no longer an imminent danger to you.
  • Asteroids tend to clump together due to their collisions with each other.
  • Asteroids tend to slow down and move in the same direction, due to their collisions with each other, making it easy to pick them off in groups.

as a beginner (okay, I used play asteroids in the arcades a long time ago) these are all advantages ;) - but yes, I take your point that they are less of a challenge.

I would request the ability to use a key to shoot if that's possible (my mouse arm/hand is overworked).

Part of the problem is that rotating is coupled with shooting  (you may well have be aware of this). As the asteroids increase, this can be problematic - you want to look first, see which is approaching fastest and shoot at that, otherwise you create too many moving parts/particles and things just get too hairy...

^okay, that installed very easily, didnt even need a browser restart.

I'm not going to be much help with your query - I got so involved in both games that I barely noticed a difference :-[
I'll let you know if that changes - played both twice so far.

In the original Asteroids arcade game, the asteroids passed "through" each other. IRL they would mostly pass over each other anyway, so it's not that unrealistic.

Note that both links go to the WebPlayer version of the game, which works in most browsers on Windows and OSX, but not Linux, sorry.

"Unity web player - install now"
that's just a plugin, right?

There's also the beta version of HitmanPro.Alert with Cryptoguard.
[...]
Free! I've installed this on my father's PC...  ;D and now it's on mine too

does that work okay with your anti-virus? - which anti-virus?
Sounds like you dont have HitmanPro anti-malware installed as well (?)
TIA :-)

Is this CryptoPrevent safe -and advisable- from this source?

I ran an older version from that site (under file properties it says product version is 3.01) on Win7 & Win8 machines, and havent had any problems with anything.
The version I used allowed whitelisting - it looks like the newer version doesnt. Guess I should update it...

EDIT//
Updated from within the app. The interface/process works very well (requested to reapply the settings - which I did; have yet to reboot).

Sorry for the delayed response:

tbh I wasn't sure what it was, but I *thought* it was a nebula that had been shot through.
If it is an asteroid, I would give it more shading, probably on the right and lower sides, to give it a more three-dimensional look.

Of course, how an asteroid looks that has just been blasted, is uncertain...

The cannon is better bigger (on the left). I like the dark background on the right as well (not sure which background I prefer).
Is that meant to be a smiley in the shot out area?
I'd try making the shot out area darker (maybe with fading edge?) if that's possible.

Re imaging, etc., my experiences [Win. 8] were:

Backup / create an image:
Win+W to search settings > search for 'Windows 7..." - open "Windows 7 File Recovery" -a weird hangover name, in spite of it simply being called "Backup or Restore" in Win7.
~ Restore seems a bit buggy here - it cant find my image/backup on an external usb hd. But if I use the restore disk (dont forget to create it!) I can find the backup okay. Helped by Windows 8 forums tutorials (NOTE: I just wanted to check that it could find the backup - I didnt need to restore, so I didnt try to).
System Restore - Win+W to search settings for same and you're covered (also available via control panel)

If I could bring it up blank then the page open would go to it instead of IE.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by 'page open' - but IIUC, this'll work:
install the 'Session Manager' extension. In the options, select "Prompt for a session" for "At startup always load..."

If I click on a link, and FF is not open, it will open the page. The Session Manager dialogue window opens too - I can ignore it or cancel it, or open the last/or another session (will open in a second window).

Tracker Software has just released version 3 of their PDF-XChange Viewer Pro software and changed the name to PDF-XChange Editor because it supposedly now allows in-place editing of PDF files.

thanks!
I found that page (and linked pages) very confusing though in terms of their different versions. The comparision chart might help (me/others) a bit:

With Screenshot Captor, the dialog tomos showed is for splicing (with effects added).
But it might be more straighforward to FIRST do a normal crop, and then from the SpecialFx2 menu, choose "Border" and then last submenu item is "border effect splice style (ragged effects)"
which will give you this dialog:

whoa, that's great
Can also do fade out with that - here's with top + bottom faded:

May I ask this, is PDFCreator hyperlink aware?

it sounds like that will be a problem - see http://forums.pdffor....org/discussion/8402

Yap, that is why I am looking for recommendation of a good word to pdf conversion utility.

I find it hard to believe that Word doesnt have the capacity to create a 'normal' PDF. Have you checked out all the available options? It sounds like that your only problem is that the font is not being embedded: try a search on the big old internet, I'm sure you'll find the solution:

P.S. How are you doing the "faded shots"? I only know how to capture the whole thing!

Start with the full capture.
Select the bit you want to crop (in theory you can fade within, or outside, this selection - but with my settings at any rate, it always crops and fades outside the selection)

Yeah, for some reason it only works (with FARR anyway) when you make the shortcuts.

I think they only allow it tomos if the original form was created to be edited.

I dont have to deal with many forms, but I'm not sure there. This is simply overlaying text. It does nothing to the original PDF in terms of actual editing - it's just that the text is placed on top of it, and then saved.

But I may well be wrong there - as I say, I have little experience here. (lol just saw your post above!)

Doesn't PDF-XChange Reader allow editing of sorts - well adding text to forms anyway. I thought even Adobe Reader allows that now too?
Or do you need something more?

Screenshot - 2013-11-15 , 23_50_10.png

In PDF-XChange Reader, there is a "Comment and Markup toolbar" (View>Toolbars>)
