N.A.N.Y. 2017 / Re: NANY 2017: Feast Day / Fast Day (Android)
« Last post by mouser on December 19, 2016, 09:49 AM »
Hey guys, I think there may be something to this app!

I've been using it for the last couple of weeks now, following the rules, and losing weight.  And not suffering too terribly :)

The key, for me personally, really does seem to me to be this idea of having an occasional feast (cheat) day followed immediately by a day of fasting.

Psychologically, the fact that I can look forward to an entire day when I can eat whatever I want is very helpful in helping me stick to my diet during the week.

And then, even more importantly, the day of fasting comes in to halt the runaway feedback avalanche that would otherwise kick in after I start eating junk food.  This is absolutely critical because the fast really does seem to reset my cravings, and without it they just seem to get stronger.  After the end of the day of fasting I'm back to just wanting a little normal food.

So.. I feel like I want to recommend that other people give this app a try.  Tweak the durations of the modes to see what works for you.  Maybe if your serious buy yourself a cheap tablet for the kitchen, put it on a stand, and just leave the app running on that.

Let me know if it works for you!

Caveat: Let me reiterate that this app does not tell you how to eat most of the time -- if you want to lose weight you will have to find a reasonable, moderate diet that you can stick with most of the time, hopefully with some exercise sprinkled in.  For me that's generally a low-carb diet and regular running.  The primary function of this app is to let you blow off steam and indulge occasionally without getting derailed from your diet.

Not sure why I didn't reply to this yet, but I believe I fixed this problem in the last update.

That's strange.. And troubling...

I can't remember the problem coming up before.
Let me ask, did you move over this install from another pc at some point? -- if so did you modify the ConfigDir.ini file in the LBC program directory?
Does it make a difference if you exit the program and then start it normally (rather than let it start at windows startup)?

I'd really like to know the solution to this problem when you find it.. Might help someone else.

Find And Run Robot / Re: [Stupid question] Search filters for specific folders?
« Last post by mouser on December 18, 2016, 08:17 AM »
Yes.
In this list of folders for each folder at the bottom you can specify "Optional Modifider Keywords", and then use +keyword to restrict a search to only the folders with that keyword.

Message me I have a x64 build i'd like you to try.

I'm interested in hearing reports on this new beta version (v2.14), which supports x64 machines natively.

Unified win32 and x64 setup betas:

Or if you prefer portable version:

That icon will be shown while it's trying to copy a clip to the clipboard.

As for tmpin and tempout, those are used when CHS is trying to invoke a custom external exe tool that you have configured as part of modifying the clipboard text.

I think what we should do is people can volunteer stuff after NANY, and then each participant can request what they want, so yeah, there may be games that participants want.

Living Room / Re: My board game recommendations for family holidays
« Last post by mouser on December 17, 2016, 03:22 AM »
Continuing on, another great game for families of ALL ages, is Telestrations
Telestrations is more of an activity than a game.  Players pass around drawing pads and have to alternatively draw and then guess what other people are drawing.
It's frequently hillarious, and the worse people are at drawing the funner it is.

I'm hard pressed to think of a funner game for a family with wide ranging ages and interests.

Living Room / My board game recommendations for family holidays
« Last post by mouser on December 17, 2016, 03:09 AM »
I thought I would make some recommendations for board games for family gatherings over the holidays.

Note: You can read some of my general board game mini-reviews in this thread: https://www.donation...ndex.php?topic=23854.

These recommendations will specifically be games that I think are well suited for families with kids and adults of mixed ages.

Codenames or Codenames Pictures
A really wonderful game that can be played in teams with any number of players (best with 4-6), where a team leader tries to get their team to guess cards based on ambiguous clues.
This is a crowd favorite which is easy to learn and can be enjoyed by people of varying skill levels, and it appeals to women as well as men.  Great fun.
Note: While super easy to learn, this is a *thinky* game, and young kids may not appreciate it.

Concept and Imagine
These are two games that are similar -- they involve one player trying to give clues to the other players to guess a concept or phrase or thing.  They differ in how the player gives clues, but in both cases the player is forced to be creative in order to convey the meaning.  It has a similar vibe as codenames, and like codenames, it may not be suitable for young children who don't like to stress their brains.

Next up is Kaleidos, which is a game for all ages.  Players each look at a picture showing a scene with hundreds of objects.  A random letter is chosen and players hunt for examples of objects in the picture that begin with that letter.
It's frantic fun for all ages, and it's fun to debate with each other about whether an object is a valid example for the given letter.

No problem, but I'm still not sure what you mean when you say more than one node "opened".

when more than one node (>= 2 nodes) are running
what do you mean "running"?

v2.38.0 BETA - Dec 16, 2016
  • [Improvement] Significantly improved performance when browsing through clips and adding new clips.
  • [Improvement] Home and End keys now go to top and bottom of grid.
  • [Improvement] New option to not update last view date of clips when browsing (better performance).

You should find that browsing through clips is noticeably faster now -- for some folks the speed improvement may be huge; thanks to Iain for his help tracking down the slowdown.

When try moving the pointer onto the context menu to select something, all menus disappear.
that's very strange.. i can't reproduce that behavior here, but if its not found in older version perhaps I can compare my code and see what could possibly be causing the problem..

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Bug in context menu

Ok I think I understand then.. What you are saying is the first item you right-click you see the context menu properly, but if you try to right-click on a second item, all menus hide -- is that the behavior we are talking about?
4195
Looks like Iain and I may have made some progress beta testing some changes.. Stay tuned.

If open more than two files and have them docked

can you clarify this a little so i can try to reproduce the problem?

It must be that the key didn't get put in, otherwise the messages would have stopped.  Go to the About box of the program (typically under the program help menu) and take a look at what it says, or put in the new license key.
Email me if you're still having trouble ([email protected]) -- you signed up long enough ago I'm happy to send you a full license key.

The fine folks at Help And Manual and Beyond Compare, two of my favorite developer tools, have agreed to donate some copies to give away to participants in this year's NANY.

Can you try again this new beta:

If the problem remains the first time you try it, can you then go to options, and on the Kludge tab, enable the option to "Completely hide red box when capturing.."
And see if that solves it.
4200
Can you try this version:

This version adds an option for updating the last-view-date of each clip, setting this to false by default (you'll find it in the Misc Options 1 tab).  In prior versions this was always done.
It may be that this is slowing down your browsing of clips.

If this doesn't help I have a debug version ready for you to try and send me feedback on.
