As an American, I found this collection of images where Brits were asked to fill in the names of the states, to be much funnier: http://www.buzzfeed....to-label-the-us-stat

oh app, thanks for that !! It really made my day (and it's only 2pm yet here).

By the time I got to the one titled "That’s a lot of Utahs" where the author had written "I'm so sorry" in the corner - well at that stage I just couldnt stop laughing...

BTW in spite of having lived in ME for a year, I reckon I wouldnt do very well on this test either :-[

It's really nice to play with a trackpad btw (except my trackpad is a disaster but that's nothing to do with the game)

okay, it's not just my trackpad - sometimes, the mouse cursor is clearly moving around the screen, but the ship isn't doing anything. Maybe it the 'click' button. Or maybe it's the site simply not responding.

EDIT// seems to be a problem with the site beíng too busy - got kicked out of a game for the second time in half an hour.

Her name is KT Tunstall.

It's always pretty ballsy for anyone to try covering a Dylan classic. But she does it here with aplomb IMHO.

loved it :-* - must go listen again....

I think that having to press 2 buttons as well as move the mouse will just be too confusing.
-
yes, I agree

I think what I'll do also allow you to press the spacebar to aim+shoot. Wherever the mouse cursor is pointing is where you'll turn to shoot.
-
the spacebar + mouse sounds good :up:

What are your settings exactly?
I get notification - have you that option enabled?

Screenshot - 2013-11-26 , 10_39_31.png

if so, I would presume it's simply checking what's available.
If not...

[edit] sorry I missed that in your screenshot there Curt [/edit]

Thanks Iain -
I'm trying to read slower these days, but in e.g. a review like this, there's a lot of info, so it's easy to miss something, I find ;-)

Compatability is not generally a problem. But you never know. Depends on what you're doing and how fussy you are.
I'd try a free suite first, you'll probably be fine with it.

Another aspect:
I presume that older versions of Word will not be able to open the docx files created by the newest versions - you'd be better off with LibreOffice from that POV (I presume AbiWord can handle them too - not sure about Softmaker's free version though).

^Yeah, I guess the baby will just get used to it... (phew, I'm getting sea-sick with that thing going non-stop).

I'm still struggling with the implementation. (I'm using a g+ account with my YT name.) They are trying to force YT/G+ users who aren't using their supposed real name, to either create a second 'real name' a/c (which will always be favoured over any other g+ a/c), or to change their account to their 'real name'.

For example, if I am currently logged into both YT and google (gmail etc) - I cannot [g+] anything - it tries to get me to open a real name account - in spite of having my g+ homepage open in the same browser.

So, the g+ dream is sort of along the lines of Facebook I guess. I guess they'll drive me away eventually, just like FB did before them.

It's always really great to know when something *actually* works :up: :up:

I'm wondering - it took about 8 hours to clone everything with a USB3 connection (I think?) - is that not very slow? Although I guess it does have to create the partitions etc.  :-\

I suppose if your drive was failing quicker, maybe creating a system image would be better, in case the drive died.

EDIT//
I see they have two versions:
Download AOMEI Backupper Full Version 1.6
Platform: Windows 7, 8, Vista, XP and Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012
Size: 60MB

Download AOMEI Backupper for Win7 1.6
Platform: Windows 7, 8 and Server 2008 R2, 2012
Size: 20MB

which one did you use (with apologies if in review - I did look over it again quickly but couldnt see any ref).
Thanks! and thanks for the review!

You'll get older MS Office software on ebay FWIW. Not free though...

On the free front:
LibreOffice/Writer looks nice - just installed it this week.

Patteo - about a year ago I created a virtual XP using VMWare Player 4.x on Win7 pro 64bit, and an OEM XP key.
It's almost impossible to find on their site, not sure if they've renamed it..
Found it, page link in quote -
down at the bottom you'll see this:

Free for Personal Use
Player Plus is licensed for commercial use but if you simply want to learn about virtual machines or run virtual machines at home you can always use VMware® Player™ for free!
Download Player for personal use.
- See more at: http://www.vmware.co...sthash.YVMTKQLy.dpuf

Note: I did a backup with Syncovery of the virtual XP - I did a successful restore from the backup shortly after. So a simple copy would/should work.

For the record, there was another thread about VMWare vs. other options:

Fat from butter worse than vegetable oil

very much debatable there. Depends on a lot of stuff (oil - which oil?). Butter used be very much maligned, but not so much in recent years.

Fats in general were very much maligned for years. Again, scientific opinion has changed over the years. Now certain fats are considered very good for you. Then there are other theories e.g about combinations of certain foods being good or bad for you: meat + fat; sugar + almost anything (!); etc. etc. I guess the FDA cant regulate those (if proven).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As to the FDA, I do have a fairly strong opinion of them, but dont particularly want to air it here on dc.
Yeah, I was impressed by the quality of some recent PayPal spam as described by bit. It even fooled gmail's spam filters, and they're usually very good I find.
I'm confused by the *artifical* label - are "artificial trans fats" & "trans fats" the same thing? [edit] they appear to be the same [/edit]
In europe you see relatively few products with trans fats in comparision to a few years back (usually labelled "partially hydrogenated oils" these days **). I personally dislike the taste of trans fats - if you taste a margarine with a high percentage of trans fats and one that has none, you'd probably agree with me. (Only eat butter myself.) I can often even taste if they are used in baked products. But it's because of the bad press healthwise, that it is now used much less here. I dont think it's regulated in the EU in general, but I'm not sure.
Do you know: is it used a lot in the States?
** I'm not 100% sure there - wikipedia says:
Hydrogenated oil is not a synonym for trans fat: complete hydrogenation removes all unsaturated, both cis and trans, fats.
Thanks, I probably should of made it clearer when I said "valid purchased license key".
lol, I was aiming that post at people like me -
read your post; read the article; it was only when I got to the comments that I started wondering... and read the comment I quoted in my post.
Guess I should read slower, but life's too short sometimes.
Funny the way the magpie rolls on it's back and kicks out boxing style with it's legs just like a cat.
It needs to be a purchased version of 8.0, not one preinstalled with a bought pc or laptop. Most keys from a preinstallation won’t be accepted. I have a bought acer laptop and the key the system shows doesn’t work./quote]
Do I have to get the paid version of HitmanPro?
-
according to the post above yours: no
Hitman Pro is anti-malware - costs $
The naming is confusing - they have HitmanPro.Alert and Cryptoguard which I think are the same thing (free).
from paulobrabo's link above:
When the above alert is displayed, the malicious process is neutralized. It can no longer harm your files.
To remove the malicious code from your computer you click on the Scan with HitmanPro button which will automatically download the HitmanPro anti-malware application (if not already installed on your computer).
HitmanPro will scan your computer for malicious programs and allows you to remove them.
-
the CryptoGuard thingy from Hitman is free - as a free app, I'd imagine it does not auto-update, but I dont know.
