I know why now..my Logitech Setpoint interferes with AutoHotKey scripts.
-Laughing Man (March 30, 2006, 11:06 AM)
That's very strange... But might happen, the mouse software could not be allowing ahk to gain control of the mouser clicks.

For some reason it doesn't work for me. I press alt and click (tried hold alt and click) and it doesn't move any windows.
-Laughing Man (March 30, 2006, 11:00 AM)
It should, Laughing Man. Did you hold alt while clicking and dragging a window?

General Software Discussion / Re: WANTED: 2 small? applets
« Last post by jgpaiva on March 30, 2006, 10:50 AM »
yeah, I can TYPE ping -t 255.255.255.255 and watch the window.  What I wasn is to copy and paste from my Router Status screen to a box.  I get tired of going from keyboard to mouse and back.  One or the other please :)
Sorry, somehow, i forgot to write the first line of my post...
The first line should be: "I can do this" ;)

So, you're looking for a program that would prompt you for a ip to ping, and then, keep pinging it until it returns something, when it'd say "yes, this ip can be pinged"? :)
4105
two more suggestions for perfection:
1) improve icon
2) show hint in system tray about how to toggle.
Done! ;)

would it be possible to have multimedia mouse mode temporarily active when i hold the ctrl+alt keys (or shift+ctrl keys, etc.)
Done! :)

Check the top post for the links ;)

I've played with it a bit, and it looks quite good, but not very usable.
It has a few errors (like missized windows and such),but i sure like the concept.
Maybe someday google will but them, and create their own free OS, running in their servers ;)

2nd, how about a ping box?  My internet connection went down for a few minutes tonight and while I was diagnosing, I had to keep lookup up and typing ip addresses.  Would it be nice to paste an IP in a Ping Box and let it run until click it off?  I'd like to be able to have several IP's pinging and have a little button I could puch to cancel 1 or all.

But my windows is in portguese, which means i need you to send me a log file of what the ping command returns, both when it finds a host and when it doesn't.
My idea is: I could run something like:

run,ping.exe google.com > file.txt

And then, check the contents of the file, to see if the server could or could not be pinged. But for that, i need to know that ping.exe should return.

here is a list containing many Gmail related tools. haven't used it myself but would come in handy for Gmail aficionados...
That link looks broken.. Possibly the site is no more. Still, i found it on google's cache: http://www.google.co...d=1&client=opera ;)

Oops... I think i replied to that post on the keyboard thread.

But i'll explain it a bit better, because i think people don't understand what i mean.
The thing is:

Your mouse's buttons aren't always bound to those functions, that would be wasting mouse buttons, since you only use those "play/pause" or "next song" commands rarelly. The whole idea here, is that it only works when you activate that mode, i.e. your mouse always acts as normal, unless you press "back mouse button"+"right mouse button", and then, those other mouse buttons are bound to those other fuctions, untill you press that combination again, which makes the mouse be a normal mouse again.

The whole objective of this script, is making you not have to focus winamp, or use the keyboard when you want to go to the next music.

An idea i had originally was to create some other "modes", which you'd go through with each keypress of the activation hotkey. I.E. when you press the hotkey once, it'd activate multimedia mode, when you press it again, it'd go into another mode, and so on, untill it disarmed it completelly.

I sure am available for new ideas, of course, i was just explaining it a bit better, since i suspect people don't understand what this really does.

jgpaiva, I have my mouse set up similar to yours, but instead of multimedia I have it setup for firefox. The scroll down button closes tabs, scroll up button minimizes the window, scroll left and right switch tabs left and right, back and forward do their default commands, and the switch app button closes windows. It's an increadible time saver!

I think that post didn't get much attention because i simply can't communicate as well as i'd like to.
Actually, i don't have my mouse set up like that. That's a thing I invented, mouse can act just normal, it only has that layout when you press one combination, that activates "multimedia mouse", which means, that you can use your mouse as normal, and then, when you press the combination that activates that mode, the mouse buttons are bound to those functions. You press the combination again, and the mouse buttons act like they act usually.

I also have many mouse gestures in opera, for opening tabs, closing tabs, cycling tabs, opening in new pages, go page back, go page forward, etc, etc, etc, but this doesn't interfeer with it, only when i activate the mode, to pause the music, or something. Usually, i only activate it to use one function, and then, do the combination again to use my mouse as i do always ;)

ps: sorry to be nagging you, but the first time you read my post, did you understand that it worked like i explained here?

Is there any way to download it?

You never know what someone else is doing when you don't take your security seriously.
Very,very good point.
I think this thread might be a good way to warn DC users to be careful with the way they secure their networks, I had already been warned about the possibility of my bandwidth being abbused, but this is a whole other risk.
You never know who lives next to you, he might even be hacking into the pentagon through your WLan ;)

The answer is seven for me. It's great. Whenever my router's is down for whatever reason, I have 7 alternatives to choose from :D
I must say that goes way beyond what could of. 7 Unprotected wlans in the same place is too much.
And how many protected ones?
If I was my mother, I'd be saying "oh.. so much radio activity.. that's bad for you, it causes cancer, bla bla bla" and you'd be hearing about 30 minutes of nagging, telling you to move out :tellme:

When i learned java at school, the workbook was Bruce Eckel's "thinking in java", and i found it very enlightning, interesting, and even fun to read.
In not much time, i'll need to learn some advanced C++, so, I guess i'll be using Thinking in C++ ;)

i have a logitech keyboard with a bunch of extra buttons on it.  the only thing i actually use on it however is the volume knob and mute button.  i definitely recommend a keyboard with these, it does come in handy.
Yep, my keyboard also has a few multimedia buttons, and I love them, i use them all the time!
And when i am using my mouse, i make my mouse become a Multimedia Mouse ;)

Living Room / Re: orboxb - nice simple but hard flash puzzle game
« Last post by jgpaiva on March 28, 2006, 05:05 PM »
This game has been all around the irc channel. So, i decided to make a post showing how interesting the irc channel is.
Everybody talks about it. It's like: you're talking about a forum's new feature, and somebody comes and says:

[26 Mar 06 07:14] * mouser * level 7 of orbox is cool
or
[26 Mar 06 07:48] * hamradio * stuck on 16
[26 Mar 06 22:33] * mouser * woot did 15
or even thigs like:
[26 Mar 06 22:34] * Moe_GONE * I haven't done it yet but I just FIGURED OUT 13
or, on a more negative approach:
[26 Mar 06 22:44] * jgpaiva * damn 19!!
[26 Mar 06 22:44] * Moe_GONE * damn 15
[26 Mar 06 22:50] * jgpaiva * how the $%!!#%$""&/))$# do you pass 19?? grr grr grr

This day, (26 March) was a big day for orboxb in DC, everyone was raving about it. But db got a few hilarious lines:
[26 Mar 06 22:38] * dbcch * this game is too easy
[26 Mar 06 22:38] * dbcch * i already beat level 1
[26 Mar 06 22:38] * dbcch * ;p
...
[26 Mar 06 22:38] * dbcch * really, i don't see how it will get very hard
[26 Mar 06 22:38] * dbcch * ;p
[26 Mar 06 22:38] * dbcch * i mmean, just move around until u get the exit
[26 Mar 06 22:42] * dbcch * easy
[26 Mar 06 22:43] * dbcch * 6
[26 Mar 06 22:43] * dbcch * i am so damn smart

Db was passing levels like a madman:
[26 Mar 06 22:48] * dbcch * easy shit
[26 Mar 06 22:48] * dbcch * 7

Then, he got stuck:
[26 Mar 06 22:49] * dbcch * i can't stop it
[26 Mar 06 22:49] * Moe_GONE * press space
[26 Mar 06 22:49] * Moe_GONE * restart level
[26 Mar 06 22:49] * dbcch * pfft
[26 Mar 06 22:49] * dbcch * they coulda told u that
[26 Mar 06 22:49] * dbcch * or put a link to restart
[26 Mar 06 22:49] * dbcch * stupid game
[26 Mar 06 22:49] * dbcch * idiot author
[26 Mar 06 22:49] * dbcch * ;p

And here's the hard part on orboxb:
[26 Mar 06 22:52] * dbcch * random paths don't work anymore
[26 Mar 06 22:52] * dbcch * fuck abunch of thinking

Everybody had other things to do:
[26 Mar 06 22:57] * mouser * damn more wasted horus
[26 Mar 06 22:57] * mouser * got to get back to work
[26 Mar 06 22:58] * Moe_GONE * no shit
[26 Mar 06 22:58] * Moe_GONE * Gotta read Freud.

Still, this game is just too addictive:
[26 Mar 06 22:58] * Moe_GONE * I'm on 17.
[26 Mar 06 23:16] * jgpaiva * i'm so close to cracking 19..

MoeRL reaches the highly traumatizing level 17:
[26 Mar 06 23:18] * Moe_GONE * NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
[26 Mar 06 23:18] * Moe_GONE * OMFG you should have seen me scream just now
[26 Mar 06 23:18] * Moe_GONE * I even TOUCHED the stone I was supposed to be at
[26 Mar 06 23:19] * Moe_GONE * but hit LEFT instead of down and flew off into space instead of to the sensor :)
[26 Mar 06 23:19] * Moe_GONE * OMFG

And after 2 hours, I still didn't pass 19:
[26 Mar 06 23:20] * jgpaiva * 19's solution is soooo big, that when i find part of the solution, i already forgot the other part

Db starts to understand this game isn't easy:
[26 Mar 06 23:30] * dbcch * i run around like a madman and let me subconcious solve them
[26 Mar 06 23:30] * dbcch * easiest way

MoeRL is unstopabble:
[26 Mar 06 23:42] * Moe_GONE * god damn
[26 Mar 06 23:42] * Moe_GONE * 21 sucks

A few interesting quotes:
[26 Mar 06 23:45] * dbcch * oh well, 13 is unbeatable.

[26 Mar 06 23:54] * Moe_GONE * holy fucking CRAP
[26 Mar 06 23:54] * Moe_GONE * 23 looks like DEATH itself

[26 Mar 06 23:55] * mouser * damn you guys are going fast

[27 Mar 06 00:04] * jgpaiva proclaims Moe_GONE as the official DonationConder.com Orbox Expert Player

[27 Mar 06 00:13] * Moe_GONE * you bastards
[27 Mar 06 00:13] * Moe_GONE * I have to finish Freud
[27 Mar 06 00:13] * Moe_GONE * still have more than 80 pages
[27 Mar 06 00:14] * Moe_GONE * I see an all-night coming, just because I got hooked on this game.

After a while...
[27 Mar 06 00:13] * mouser * i notice db has gotten very quiet
[27 Mar 06 00:13] * mouser * ROFL
[27 Mar 06 00:13] * Moe_GONE * lol
[27 Mar 06 00:13] * mouser * so much for being easy :)

Well... That's not even close to being all of it..
You'd better come to the irc channel, I bet you'll love it there!

'm behind a proxy here, I wonder if that's why I can't connect...
In options>network, there is the proxy configuration. I don't have a proxy, so i can't test it, though.
4122
And how do I stop the icq message from coming up every time I start miranda, saying I don't have it configured.  I'm only using this for irc.
If you're only using the irc network, it makes sense to disable all other network plugins. Goto options-> plugins and disable msn, icq, jabbler, etc ;)

« Last post by jgpaiva on March 28, 2006, 11:21 AM »
I don't think anything is offtopic on DC ;)
I don't have one of those, but IBM's model M keyboards are known to be very good, and 1337... lol

I own a Labtec Ultra-Flat Keyboard. It's not very good, but i also only bought it because i didn't want to ruin my notebook's keyboard (it already happened to me, with an older laptop). So, i bought the cheaper keyboard there was at the store, only to be able to use it, and destroy it without regreting ;)
