Heh heh.  I can't let the major version number exceed 9 or I'd have to rewrite the "check for updates" I use on some of them. It just does a string compare I believe. That keeps me from bumping up the major version every 48 hours. :)

Programmer Laziness FTW!!   ;D

I call that "optimization."  When I'm not snorin'

Ridiculously off topic but I get a kick out of your 4 level versioning Miles. Miles Away from Firefox!   :-*

MoveIt 1.2.5.4 (skipped 1.2.5.3 because I don't feel like compiling yet again just for the number.)  :)

Added a kludge to force the ini file to be ANSI on Wow64 systems.  Otherwise the .ini file could be a BOM and nothing else.  The profile string APIs are weird hold-overs from Win 3.1.  But for tiny apps like these it can be convenient not to mess up the registry just for a couple of settings.

The other choice was recompile the build as ANSI. This seemed the lesser of 2 evils.

I seem to remember a lot of Linux editors had ^t to transpose. I was surprised that it's unusual in Windows. Anyway, I do transpose quite often. So it helps a bit. But it's a catch-all script with stuff like hit Shift key while left mouse button is down to copy selected text to clipboard in browsers, alt left click mouse opens selected url in new tab etc..  just a whole bunch of junk.  Plus I hate chrome making me hit control-shift click a link to open in a new foreground tab. So I send that when I hit control-click and use shift-click to open new tab in background.  Just a hodge-podge. :)

afa the '^' usually I spell out Control or Alt when talking about hotkeys. But sometimes I forget and just put in the symbols used by the Send command or function. ! = Alt + = Shift ^ = Control etc..

Transpose 2.3.1.3 Now if open Everything window is activated, the Edit line gets keyboard focus with any entry selected. Just start typing to discard the old entry.

Naturally when I was a little kid, I wanted to get free candy. But as I got older I didn't like the extortion concept. Ring somebody's doorbell and imply they'll suffer damages if they don't pay tribute. Some celebration.
(Also how do you scare somebody who is already dead by dressing as a skeleton? You can be killed but they can't. So how scare them?  Strange.)

Then again I never liked the idea of Christmas gifts either. Everyone running around buying other people stuff they don't want that they then have to return. What a scramble!!  My Christmas concept would be everyone start a little fund of crazy cash to splurge on themselves.  Get something they wouldn't ordinarily buy. Indulge a whim. Then everyone gets together for a meal and displays the crazy item they bought after saving all year.

It would cut down on the customer service lines later. :)

I remember in the early 60s hovercraft and car/aircraft hybrids were popular.  I remember some of the TV celebrities would show off their hybrids either by actually having them there for the TV show taping, or showing a video on their shows.  One had an airplane with detachable wings you could stow in a trailer.  Another had a hover car and he demonstrated driving it off the road right into a lake.  They never quite became the George Jetson convertable briefcase that they seemed to promise though. :)

I was hoping to get more on-topic comments, should I continue or is that futile?

Just making an on topic comment would provide impetus is my guess.

I recently saw a show on History Channel about this. It was pretty funny. The car hovered fairly well across a paved parking lot. It then ventured onto a grassy field.  All kinds of dirt, dust, and grass were thrown into the air.  Much of it was sucked into the engine air intake as it rained down. Back to the old drawing board.

I see FF 16 went Release Channel today. There's a download link on FileHippo. Don't see one for Portable yet.  I remembered how to fix my bookmarks bar with SyncPlaces(not that it was difficult. I'm just forgetting since I rarely use it.)

I tried installing to a different folder so as not to hose 14.01.  But Speed dial can't find images. I'm reluctant to overwrite 14.01 until I get an indication 16 is not flaky. :)

If you wish to adapt rcopy to make it rmove you are welcome to do so.  Basically you would change the .ahk script to use FileMove instead of FileCopy.  Also the output to the user should be changed accordingly. I made it copy only as I really don't want to supply utilities that delete people's files.  No upside and too much downside for freeware with no backing so to speak. :)

I included the .au3 and .ahk source.  The rcopy.ahk I comipled as 32 bit and 64 bit as _slave exe. The au3 AutoIt3 script just calls one or the other depending on OS being 32 or 64 bit.  The other issue, since ahk does not compile true command line apps, I have it return the number of files copied using the Exit value.  The AutoIt3 script gets this number back from ShellExecuteWait as an error code and displays the number of files copied on the command line to the user.

It's free for you to mess with at your own risk. :)

Transpose 2.3.1.2  Added check for Everything Window if process running. If found the window is activated rather than passing on the hotkey. This avoids opening multiple search windows. If you have the search window minimized so that it has a button in the Taskbar, this should avoid opening yet another window. It should activate the existing window.

Considerable acceleration was applied if memory serves.
I think you'll find that the technical term for that is shelling.

You may want to take a look at RichCopy

It's similar to RoboCopy but has a Gui. It's an MS employee written free program. It was the only thing I could find to efficiently copy the entire Windows.old folder over a network to another drive.  Explorer would have spent a couple of days counting the files first. It has some quirks but it's multi-threaded. That was the only time I really used it. But it's one free option to explore(no pun intended.) :)

I wrote a program called RCopy
(RCopy has command line interface only.)

It does a copy rather than a move. But it is somewhat unique in that the target folder may be inside the source folder tree without it being caught up in an endless loop. If the target folder is on a different drive then the "move" is a copy anyway. You'd only be left with the chore of deleting the source files. My main reason for writing RCopy was to copy a bunch of subtitle files into a target folder to make it easy to process them all in batch.

The other unique aspect of RCopy is the actual recursive copy is performed by either a 32 bit or 64 bit app depending on your OS.  This avoids problems with 32 bit emulator folder redirection on 64 bit OS. See the included Readme.txt for usage.

If the files have unique names and the target folder is not part of the source folder tree, then you could do it in explorer this way: Open the target folder. Go to the source folder. In Search box in source folder enter *.*.  It will display all the matching files.  Press Control-a to select all.  Drag with the mouse into the target. If both folders are on the same drive, it should move the files. A fast operation.  I've never used DO.  So I can't help you there.

See this article for using RoboCopy:

Not to eggzagerate, but the only free food I remember kids passing out was raw eggs. Considerable acceleration was applied if memory serves.

Transpose 2.3.1.1  Sprinkled in a few more calls to _EmptyWorkingSet(). This reduces the memory footprint just sitting in the tray.

It's checked in View Menu. But even though I have a folder named Bookmarks Toolbar, it doesn't display it. I forget how to get SyncPlaces to download. That fixes all the bookmark stuff in one go. Guess I just didn't have the patience to mess with it.  14 seems good. :)
