I'll look into the debug dll thing and update the official version.

The previous version (v2.11) is at:

Can you try this beta version:

https://www.donation...rocessTamerSetup.exe
or if you prefer portable version:
https://www.donation...essTamerPortable.zip

Note: This latest new version will install into \Program Files\ on x64 machines, instead of \Program Files (x86)\ as the older version did, so you should uninstall old version if you are installing new on an x64 machine.
Your settings should still carry over.

Living Room / Re: Do you use a Portrait mode monitor?
« Last post by mouser on January 29, 2017, 03:31 PM »
2+ years later, I'd like to hear from people who are using portrait monitors.

I want to use a portrait style layout as it would be better use of my desk space, but I just have a hard time adjusting to the vertical span and having to angle my head up to see the top of the screen..

Hi wyvern.

Hmm that's strange.. I must admit I use a sliding/hiding dock, which doesn't seem to have this problem.
It's probably a consequence of the dock reserving space and not letting the popup menu be near the mouse.

I'll look into a fix.  Meanwhile what you could try is changing the dock to be hiding/sliding instead of reserving space as a workaround.

Another recent opinion piece saying that installing a 3rd party Antivirus tool is counter-productive:

Some of you have been saying this for a while.. I still use an antivirus but pieces like this from knowledgeable people are making me think about this seriously..

Screenshot Captor / Re: Performance issue
« Last post by mouser on January 23, 2017, 11:30 AM »
Glad to hear it's back to a good speed.

Just a theory: It's possible that there is some caching issue that kicks in over a certain threshold.. So you might be fine with 1000 images in your root screenshot directory but at 1001 the slowdown kicks in.

Ideally having thousands of images in the thumbnail panel shouldn't slow down SC.

For example, I have 1000+ images in my thumbnail panel (screenshot directory) with no noticable slowdown.

But it seems there are definitely cases where it does -- I'm not sure if that's because of antivirus software, or windows thumbnail settings, or extensions, or some combination of factors.

So if you do notice a delay when a new screenshot is added, I guess it pays to try moving out the old images and seeing if that speeds things up.

You'll find one-time manual command to move older screenshots to a subdirectory in the MoveTo menu, and you'll find a setting for automatically (regularly) filing old screenshots into subdirectories based on date, on the "Saving and Loading" files tab in options.

well that's a clue.. do you have hundreds/thousands of images in the thumbnail panel?
4015
Ah! Nice find.. Let me make sure that's not being applied when there is no "active" window!
That would explain the problem.
4016
Maybe it's an easter egg I put in and forgot about: All screenshots with pandas in them will be saved as black and white  :-\ :P
4017
I am having a hard time thinking of a scenario where SC would spontaneously converted a screenshot to black and white.  certainly not a power failure.
How very strange.  See if you can get it to happen again.

Point Motivator / Re: Ways to use Point Motivator: goal for defined period
« Last post by mouser on January 22, 2017, 08:59 AM »
Good to hear it's working again!

If you backed up your PointMotivator.ini I would love to see it along with the new one to see if I can spot what was causing the error.

Well regarding the popularity of PointMotivator -- I think it's due largely to two understandable things:
1. The move to web apps
2. The move to mobile apps

Similar kinds of apps exist (in more fun gamified forms) on the web and probably on mobile devices (and which run on both).

Developer's Corner / Anyone tried the Nim language yet?
« Last post by mouser on January 21, 2017, 12:01 PM »
There was an article on slashdot recently about the Nim language, and I have to admit I'm intrigued by the motivational guiding principles:

http://nim-lang.org/

"Nim is a statically typed, imperative programming language that tries to give the programmer ultimate power without compromises on runtime efficiency. This means it focuses on compile-time mechanisms in all their various forms.
Beneath a nice infix/indentation based syntax with a powerful (AST based, hygienic) macro system lies a semantic model that supports a soft realtime GC on thread local heaps. Asynchronous message passing is used between threads, so no "stop the world" mechanism is necessary. An unsafe shared memory heap is also provided for the increased efficiency that results from that model."

It's great to see such progress!

awesome find. nice to have another mystery solved.
but i'd consider that a bug -- you shouldn't be able to have a title with newlines in it. I will fix.
