My Fujitsu laptop's native resolution is 1400x1050.

Came to know from their forum that presently it's not possible to set it up on shared hosting space due to dependence on .NET. So it's only good for intranet deployment. By this year end, they plan to release a version of it that we can install on our own web space.

Tinny: Can it be installed on my shared hosting space or is it only for intranets?

Which, in your opinion, is the best wiki installable on your web host?

kalos: I thought all find managers like x2, xy, DO are just like shells on top of windows explorer? If am not mistaken, they will stop working if windows explorer is removed from the system.

Could anyone recommend a screencast software that stores the captured video as successive individual files instead of or in addition to AVI or flash?

Pasting objects seem to be working only on the image from which the object has been copied.

It's not working on any other image for me.

You might want to try any watermarking program.

I think (user set, not what the program dictates) auto complete is great.

For example, I just used the abbreviations 'prog', 'grt', 'abbr.' to write the above sentence.

Thanks tinny. Start Killer is exactly what I want.

Phil, Nighted: Thanks for your recommendations. I haven't tried them out since Start Killer does it.

General Software Discussion / How to hide windows start menu/button?
« Last post by sri on October 16, 2007, 06:56 AM »
Like most of you, I don't use the Start menu any more in my Windows XP (Thanks to Launchy and Direct Access).

Now I want to just get rid of the start menu and reclaim the space it takes up on the task bar. However I still want the win key to bring it up.

A google search took me to a program whose download link doesn't work (http://www.programur...ide-start-button.htm).

Does anyone have ideas?

I mean, 10pm EST time Sunday 14 Oct 2007.

Not sure where you got whatever that it is you got. It's not do-Organizer AFAIK. do-Organizer is not a freeware. It should look like this:

There's not much learning to do in DOpus for creating buttons with actions like what Kenny was talking about. In the end it's a matter of what features YOU want in the program you are using.

If Windows Explorer with add-ons like QT meets your requirements, fine..so be it. But, that doesn't make it any more powerful than a full featured program like DOpus. It's just that you are not interested in using the advanced features that DOpus and XYPlorer offer.

:)

Curt:

1) Do you have a button in the toolbar that will compress selected files and folders to a rar file?

2) Do you have a toolbar button that would create a dated folder like this for example -> 14-10-2007 9.24 PM

General Software Discussion / Re: A program to simulate taskbar autohiding?
« Last post by sri on October 13, 2007, 01:11 PM »
Not sure if this helps...with PowerPro, you can move your mouse to the 4 corners or borders of your screen and have any action (running a program, file, folder, web page etc.) take place.
421
The prettiest file manager has to be DOpus.

xplorer2 lite is free. No need to install multiple addons on top of windows explorer when xplorer2 can do it all.

Some of the windows file manager/explorer extensions mentioned here make me curious - what extensions are there out there that can improve life?

When I go and fix someone else's computer I dont particularly want to install any of my shareware on their machine, and it would be nice to have some less intrusive options to make their life easier

So far people have mentioned (without links)

Folderview, QTTabbar, QTBreadcrumbs, FindeXer, Styler

Any others? How about some links, because I sure won't find "styler" just by googling/yahooing it

Armando: Freeware alternatives exist in the form of AHK, PhraseExpress, Texter. But none, as effective, easy and cohesive as Direct Access in my opinion.

why don't you just download a trial version of DA and try instead of trying to visualize? :D

Also, DA is not just to launch files, folders, websites and programs. It also provides useful features like being able to position the cursor after an abbreviation is expanded. You can also easily add abbreviations from existing words by selecting the word and hitting a hot key. Similarly it provides a shortcut for setting an abbreviation to the current application.
