The 60+ applications that I removed freed up over 5 GB of space
Good heavens!  It'll take you at least a week to replace those with alternative clutter... ;)

"We issue each of our Cosmonauts a box of No.2 lead pencils..."

My wife presented me with one of those zero-gravity writing devices. "Happy Birthday!", she said.
Mine was custom made for the occasion, I think -- it even had HB imprinted on it!

slip-stick?
Slide rule.
[edit: I see Edvard beat me to it ]

My father was a computer.
He was born in 1900 and wouldn't have known what we're referring to here.
However, in his prime, he was a relatively senior officer in a regiment of British
foot guards and could rattle off solutions to problems for which I had to use a slip-stick.

I hadn't thought of that for a while.

Having  been a bit of a gadget guy all my life I was surprised to find that I don't have anything recent -- gee I must be older than I thought  :(

I do like these for the workshop.
REclamp.png
They're clamps that contain rare-earth magnets. Turn the knob to "on" and the clamp locks to any ferrous surface. Flip it to "off" and it's free.
Ideal for workshop jigs.  Great for the bandsaw and the table saw.  (No good for aluminum tables, obviously.)

Two sizes that exert 95 lb and 155 lb of force respectively.

(Lee Valley has a bunch of interesting gadgets)

Oh, I do like the 'computer' that runs the sprinkler system for the gardens, we have eight large-area impulse sprinklers and our first year in this house we were actually turning them on and off by hand -- that got old in a hurry!

Another resurrection
Just what I need. I hanged myself with mine after realizing how much I paid for them  :o

you aren't meant to ever type p2list after this change.
-mouser

Unless one wants to use the plugin also in its original form.
(I was using plist as an example of what I wanted)

you could have changed it to "jhgkljdhglkdjhg"
-mouser

Now you tell me!  I tried everything; "jhgkljdhglkdjg", "jhkljdhglkdjhg", "jhgkljhglkdjhg"...  :o

I might have a grasp on it this time, or not.

3983
Nice job, well done.
Thanks mouser!
3984
Thank you.

I have the principle.

Your example of "p2list" is a bit dodgy as the "2" immediately selects the second entry that matches "p".
That was a test, right?  ;)

3985
Can you help me out?
I'd like to 'modify' some plugins so that their behaviour suits me better.

As an example, I'd like to override the 'plist' (show printers) plugin,
so that when I enter 'plist' I actually get 'plist +sall'.

What's the best way?

Look at the options in CH&S available here, on DonationCoder, from mouser.

I think you can set up what you want and 'hot-key' it into place:

Clipboard Help+Spell is a text-based clipboard utility with the following features:

    * Database stores history of all past text clipboard entries for easy viewing, modification, and search
    * Use it for keeping hierarchical notes - search, sort, filter by text, modification date, last view date
    * Super easy and super fast search function - or use complex filters if you need them - you'll never have a problem finding a note again!
    * Organize your notes and clips any way you want - show them all or view by group or category; view your clips any way you like
    * High-quality spellcheck - underlined mistakes; learning spellchecker
    * Configurable hotkeys for common functions
    * Powerful text formatting options - make your own presets for common functions
    * Simple functions for copying and pasting into and out of other applications

Find And Run Robot / Re: old IE of HTML view - solved

Hi,
could you pls check what you get when you type:
igo http://czb.dcmembers.com/temp/show.htm
I get:
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0)
so it means that my HTML view mode uses really old version of IE, is it the same with you? (those having IE7)

EDIT: my mistake => IE7 gives the same result.. but still it seems to me as if FARR is not using IE7... I will check further :-[

Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0)another check:
IE7 or Mozilla

gets me a never-ending series of settings windows. Have to kill FARR to stifle the little blighters...

Having spoken messages enabled no longer causes the message window to fail, though :
-cranioscopical (June 12, 2008, 05:14 PM)

It was my mistake. I do not know how it happened by forgot to save and upload the latest version... now it should be fine. But to be sure pls check it ;)
thanks

[edit]
Just had a spoken message for the first time ever, too!.
This is almost as good as an Amiga.

Thanks for taking the time to let us know!

I'm sure everyone here sympathizes with you.
Wish there were something more practical I could do...

I vote against, for the selfish reason that I'm interested to see how others use their machines and OS's, what issues arise, and what solutions are found. To me this seems more meaningful in an integrated environment, such as we now enjoy-- it provides a better perspective.

I have tried talking warning and I have got "unknown exception" several times and suddenly now it works fine again. I have no idea why this happends but I have included try catch statement so in case of any error you will not loose your alert message

Thanks.  I'll experiment with that!

I've had trouble getting 'tm' to work.
With the later versions of FARR I can sometimes get an alert window as expected,
but not every time.
If I say 'Yes' to 'Do you want to have alert spoken?' nothing ever appears. Entries are logged, though.

Any advice on what I should check into, in order to get a spoken alert?

Tease you? Quite the reverse!
Why, I'll not charge you a cent for the idea of distributing SQL-N
with a pre-installed drinking-vinegar grid.

I'll say one thing for the Renegade/drinking-vinegar thread, in terms
of length it looks as if it could give SQL-Notes some competition!

@mouser:  Thanks, have it now!

@taichimaster:  So you can see that your plug-in is useful to me!  I have 3 physical printers hanging off this particular machine, each with multiple profiles, as well as the usual bunch of fax drivers and 'soft' printers.

Thanks for the fixes, gentlemen!

It would really be great if nitrix (and others) would make some short screencasts demonstrating different ways they use FARR.

why me :o

Because it is your moral duty to help those less fortunate than yourself, for whom I have elected myself to speak,
who are bears of very little brain.

Please don't Pooh-pooh the idea!

Plist 0.0.0.5 isn't working for me here.
At the moment it stilll shows only one entry but with a 'Found' count of 16 results.
The Readme refers to FARR v2.06.02, which I don't have and can't (at the moment) find.
I have 2.05.01 -- is that the stumbling block?

Where is FARR 2.06.02??
I'm off to look for it (again).  :tellme:

So is predicting formulas of compounds with polyatomic ions.  I have an equal grasp of both.  ;)
