I only use MBAM Free for scanning. But I find from checking manually that often it updates the database at least a couple of times a day.
Do you have to run it as administrator before it will update?  I don't, and the update button is always greyed out.

My account is in Administrator group and I have UAC disabled. MBAM just comes up normally. The only thing not enabled is the real-time protection.

edit: btw, shouldn't we split this off to a security discussion thread? No SciFi spoken here lately. :)

TopmostToggle 1.9.0.0 Improved the indicator of the new state of window that had Topmost attribute Toggled. The text is color coded.  Blue for ON and Red for OFF.  Also the indicator stays open for 5 seconds unless the mouse is clicked or the Topmost is Toggled again.

Also some functions set a timer to release memory not needed by the utility as it sits in the tray.

Someone on the MediaInfo forum on Sourceforge asked the author for a feature to total the media times for every media file in a folder. I pointed out you had already implemented it using the MediaInfo DLL. I just thought you'd like to know it was well received.

The other thing is you can get to Advanced Search in the expected way. No need to have a "secret shortcut" to the old advanced search panel. Now I can delete that dial from my Speed-Dial 2. :)

The good news is the forum no longer requires gyrations to paste a link into some text. Has the standard link button in Editor thingy.

They were down for site maintenance.  Then next time I went there I did a double take!! I thought I was on the AutoIt3 Forum!!

It's bad enough I edit both languages with SciTE4_yaddayadda but now I have to keep looking at the logo before posting. Make sure I'm talking about the right language. :)

I just installed it. Looks like it expects you to be on a domain and serve up databases. I've seen some posts showing it could do some cool things. But man, the syntax is really weird.

At least the IDE came up anyway. Always a good sign. :)

Thanks for the heads-up

You're welcome. Now you've tempted me. Since PS is already on W7 I guess I'll have to put on the IDE and try out some sample scripts to see what the deal is. :)

PastePath 1.1.0.0 Added Browse for Folder standard dialog to supported dialogs. It must be the type with an Edit Line to paste into of course. :)

I've never tried PowerShell myself. I've seen people post scripts here and there. It does seem like it has some powerful features. But the syntax isn't exactly transparent. I just grabbed the IDE in case I decide to try it.  I assume there's stuff like IntelliSense that would make using the scripting easier.

Another reason I may not adopt it is many people won't have it on their PCs unless they have Windows Seven.  Looks like it's a SysAdmin or System Configurator type tool trying to move its way into the mainstream.  But a PowerShell programmer would certainly know more than I.

I haven't gotten into Powershell. But I do check out Gizmo's site for news. In Hot Finds there's a notice Powershell Plus IDE is now free.  Here's the link to the article:
http://www.techsuppo...ing-ide-now-free.htm

and here's the page for download:
http://www.idera.com...ols/PowerShell-Plus/

When you click the Download Button it asks for an email address. A Hotmail address works fine. The next page has links for both 32 bit and 64 bit versions.

I haven't decided if I'm going to get into PS programming. But I have the IDE zip files just in case. :)

General Software Discussion / Re: PastePath 1.0.3.0
« Last post by MilesAhead on October 23, 2012, 02:36 PM »
Yeah, I don't know why they put that in the parens. I use a transparent Aero based theme on Vista and a custom I got from Bongo on W7 forums and it works fine.  The Bongo theme is Aero but he made the Explorer background antique white. Less glare when using fractal flame wallpaper with all the black background.

Don't ask me why you can't just change the Explorer background color in the registry. Plus I tried all those background color changers. None of them work in Computer. Bongo's theme was the only one that works since it's hard wired.

PastePath 1.0.3.0 Now one size fits all. I got rid of the COM approach. Most of my Explorer utilities require the same folder setting as shown in the earlier screen shot.... display full path in title bar.  That method has always been very reliable. This version should work across XP,Vista and Windows Seven 32 and 64 bit.

No. I don't think it was you at all. I was pasting into Address Field too. It just sends Control-v to paste.

I think I will just put the last one on my page since it works. Many of my utilities require that same title bar setting anyway. Also it's faster than looping through the shell application window list.

Thanks very much for trying the various versions.

Specifically: hwnd

One more try? This one I did without COM object. But for it to work Explorer View Settings must have "Display Full Path in the Title Bar" enabled.

Might as well try 64 bit compiled.
---------------------------
Error:  0x8000FFFF - Catastrophic failure

Specifically: hwnd

   Line#
--->   087: if (Item.hwnd = _hwnd)

Continue running the script?
---------------------------

I read on ahk forum there's some flaw in how AHK_L does COM where it cannot differentiate all the property access methods. It's weird because both the 32 bit and 64 bit work fine on my Vista64.  I'll have to see if I can find another folder detection. Maybe using WMI.

For now I'd consider it a "coding snack." If you want I can add an About Box with something like Backspacer v. x.x Coded especially for (your desired handle here).  That would only take a minute. Then you'd have a one-off special app. :)

Sorry Miles :(
similar problem:

---------------------------
Error:  0x8000FFFF - Catastrophic failure

Specifically: hwnd

   Line#
--->   152: if (Item.hwnd = _hwnd)

Continue running the script?
---------------------------

I've actually got a copy of Listary (not-yet-installed) which does this - so dont go to any trouble for me - but I will be happy to test it (or give you more info) if you want to sort it out :)

I appreciate that. Might as well try 64 bit compiled. The 32 bit works fine on my Vista64 system. I don't have 64 bit W7 to try it.

Let me know if you think it's perfected. I can change the tray tip and add a custom icon once we know it's not buggy.

PastePath 1.0.1.0 Fixed a bug where the program could crash if the system it's running on did not have Shell.Application object. This is an automation object(COM thing) that's used to get the path of the folder from an open Explorer window.
