Living Room / Re: BitCloud: BitCoin concepts applied to... everything else.
« Last post by tomos on January 22, 2014, 03:04 PM »
I agree that "Where we are today is the result of a people problem" and that "Things never change overnight but change is possible" (but amn't 100% sure about the 'never' there :p).

But, I dunno, to suggest that we should vote instead, or organise for change -- I'm struggling with these responses...
you vote: you most likely vote within a corrupt system; you organise: no offence intended, but I've never seen anything organised that hasnt degenerated into something comparable to what it's replacing -- and even if it could work, it's just one possible solution -- why not be open to the possibility of another possibility i.e. let's *not* just give up with a whimper (or: I dont see any particular reason to see things that way -- YMMV naturally).

The way I see things, they are most likely to change through something grass-roots so long as it involves something outside the box of the current societies' world-view -- seems to me something like that could have a chance.

I'm not even commenting on the topic itself here -- I am very interested in the possibilities presented by the bitcoin protocol, but I just got an itchy typing finger when I read them responses ;-)

Do you see the arrow between the "E" and "x" ? I had never noticed it before.

I've read it was intentional, but if so, I think it's a bit understated...

is it clearer here:

I've no experience with code, but do have a bit of experience with trying to export/convert files from one format to another. You often end up with so much work that you wonder if it would have been better to recreate the file from scratch.

Surely with code, you will need to be able to code anyway, in order to correct all the minor things that dont convert well (?)

Has anyone found a way to report a false positive to these Websense jokers?  It never ceases to amaze me how these security services have no problem classifying things as malware for no reason and then make it almost impossible to contact them to have it corrected.

towards the top of the page -- under "Classification" there's a link "suggest different classification".

That's bizzare -- it's an incredibly specific report -- I wonder did they get two different reports mixed up or someting :-\

Well got my highest score in a while -- but the new scoring wasnt implemented yet in the online version.

Will have to download the version for windows (is a donation preferable via dc or through the itch.io site - or is it all the one?)

Minor quirk:
I disabled wallpaper switching.
Right-clicked tray icon & clicked 'Next Wallpaper' -- I thought this would just change the wallpaper once, but it actually enables wallpaper switching again.
Yet when I open the Spews window, I see this: "Enable wallpaper switching" --

(not actually bothering me but thought best to report anyway.)

Technical stuff can be a pita (I helped a friend translate something similar once -- never again -- well... maaybe if there were a 2.8K cheque involved :p).
If you reckon you'll get it done in 90 mins you're on the pigs back. Or something like that :-)

FWIW, I did think about it again wraith, but I'm no novel writer. I mean it's actually overkill for what I want to do/write (I wouldnt make use of those great compiling features). My pim is more suitable for me (so I've no excuses for *not* writing!)

I get to the MEGA site just fine, and it loads and then displays a download button, which I click and then:

It gives me an error message:

Doesn't include any valid URL!
It does show progress. I only get an error message at the end and no file is actually downloaded (it says 0 bytes)

Odd, fine here too...

Just watched In Bruges for the second time - it's a really great film.

Just noticed 40hz wrote about it here - there may be a couple of mini-spoilers there (I prefer knowing as little as possible when I see a movie) but if I enjoy a movie as much second time round, it's gotta be good ;-)
