Find And Run Robot / Re: New FARR flash video demo
« Last post by jgpaiva on April 24, 2006, 05:35 AM »
I also think tony is right, i didn't quite like the videos myself (although they are very usefull).
I'm working on a test demo right now, i'll post it here for your aproval.
(I can't do sound, though. But i'll put nice text info :D)

...
[edit2]HERE's[/edit2] one first test. Remember: it's just a test, to see if the format fits you (i don't like the idea of launching winamp).
If you like it, i can make a bunch of them, showing some of farr's alias (e-mail, google, define, calc), alias making (farr's context menu) and farr's options. A sort of interactive help file ;)

[edit] I've just noticed that it's not looking good. For some reason, it appears streched. But it didn't when i tested it locally. anybody knows a solution? (i think i also have to upload an html page)[/edit]

No, I mean the Winver banner, type Run->Winver to see what I mean.
Oh, i didn't know about that one! But why would you want to change that dialog. You're risking messing something up, i guess a pretty strong reason would be needed to do that.

I wonder if it's better/more powerful than a modded xbox.
It's not a gaming machine... Does xbox have functions like text editor and alikes?

You're right, there should be a list for the upcoming v2. The problem is that some of the features still are being considered and discussed. You can find some in mantis (on the top bar of the forum, select "bug tracker") and others on this section of the forum.
3933
Currently, farr can't search by folders. But this is one of the most wanted features for v2, coming soon, we all hope :D

Nice one! It's cheap, it's not bad, and it's very, very small.
And another thing. Was it me, or the man on the video said it costs 423$?

« Last post by jgpaiva on April 22, 2006, 07:05 AM »
Well... I found a solution. I added a line send,#{space} to the exit subroutine, which locks the screen in my computer. So, when i make any action, the screen gets locked.
Thanks for the great screensaver, Skrommel! :D

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Ctrl+Alt+Del Grabber
« Last post by jgpaiva on April 21, 2006, 07:09 PM »
When i found skrommel's DimSaver, I fellin love with it. The problem is that i need to always have my screensaver with password. But this makes dimsaver lose half of it's usefullness, since when that option is selected, you can no longer see the active apps, only the desktop background.
So, i decided to make a screen locker myself. I made a ahk script that disables all modifier keys (ctrl,alt,win,apps,etc..) so that only the alphabetic and number keys would work, to insert the password to an input box.

Right, that was a good, funcitional idea, until i tried doing ctrl+alt+del. Ahk cannot grab that key combination (i guess it makes sense, but i want to use it in a good way :( ).
So, I'm asking if anyone knows of any way to temporarily disable the combination, either by using another program (that can be controled through another script), or by using any ahk tweak.

I hope someone can sove me this problem, i really love dimsaver :D

has no one else any opinion on 'vistaglance'. how bizarre, it's almost the perfect compliment to 'find and run robot' and no one is displaying any interest.
Honestlly, I've tried it. But i found a few things i didn't like very much. I'm not fond of programs with instalation, and i didn't like the integration vistaglance has with windows. (i specially don't like the searchbox on the taksbar, although that can be disabled)
I also don't use explorer as file manager, so it doesn't have much point beyond farr (since farr already searches my documents and source files)

Still, i think it's a great idea (i'm one of those who asked for similar features on farr).I will try it again later :)

General Software Discussion / Re: Keyboard friendly media player
« Last post by jgpaiva on April 21, 2006, 08:07 AM »
(nor irational, for that matter)
Ok.. I solved my problem. Actually, winamp's media library has keyboard navigation. The only problem is that it's irrational. It has a strange tab order. But now i know it, which means i can now navigate it with the keyboard. :D

General Software Discussion / Re: Ogg Video?
« Last post by jgpaiva on April 21, 2006, 06:57 AM »
I'm no expert, but as far as I understand it, OGG is actually a "container" format. AVI is also a container format.

OGM is container format (like AVI). So, it's not a codec. It's a specification.

Hi AussiePup!

if I end up using it.
I bet you will ;)

The Custon Internet Browser and file explorer allow you to set the programs that will open web links and folders. If you don't set anything, the system defaults will be used.

Also, even though the help is dated March 06, there are differences and omissions, such as I have a Display tab in the options, but there is no help file for this.
It's true, the latest version still doesn't have the full documentation, but the options are quite self-explanatory. Still, if you have any doubts, I'm sure someone will gladly explain it to you if you ask here in the forum :)

Welcome to the site!  8)

General Software Discussion / Keyboard friendly media player
« Last post by jgpaiva on April 20, 2006, 04:32 PM »
I've used winamp for years. But unfortunatelly, I've found a major draw-back about it.
Although i absolutelly love the way winamp's media library works, it simply isn't keyboard-friendly. There is no rational way to navigate the window (nor irational, for that matter).
So, I'm looking for a media player with some good media library funcionality, and that is keyboard friendly.
A winamp plugin to have hotkeys on the media library window would be a very good solution too.

I've surfed a bit, and tried out foobar2k, but unfortunatelly, it's library functionality are nowhere near winamp's, and I couldn't find a decent help file for it.
Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.
