Users are opted in to Google's new scheme by default. In the past, Google gave itself permission to use users’ +1s alongside advertisements unless the user specifically opted out. The new “shared endorsements” are an extension of that setting, wherein Google gives itself permission to take even more of a user’s content and place it alongside ads.

Had you opted out of that already?

Probably.

I recently found out about https://itch.io/ which is a nice little marketplace for indie developers to sell their products. So I put a page up for Be Tiny, World!

https://deozaan.itch.io/btw

Of course, the game is still free to download straight from my website (or even from itch.io), but it has a Pay What You Want thing going for it on itch.io.

If they are so good at protecting privacy, why do they need to track which browser I'm using in their URL?

I didn't have to opt out. The box was unchecked by default for me. Maybe it's opt-in? (One could wish...)

So was any of it real? Or was it just an ad, where even the "unsuspecting customers" were also paid actors?

NECROTHREAD REVIVAL! ARISE! MWA HA HA AH HA HA!

It's time once again for the October Challenge!

Make a game, take it to market, make $1. All within this month.

Disregard all the usual Ludum Dare rules (no restrictions). Finish any game you previously made during a game jam, something else you’ve been working on, or heck, something entirely new. Your goal, if you choose to accept it, is to not only make something, but to finish it and do everything necessary to start earning money from it. That’s all. No specific rules or platforms. Make good on that goal or promise to start selling games.

I see Ulrich Schnauss as the ultimate in mellow and upbeat at the same time.

Years ago when I wasn't sure how to describe the music to a friend, I said "It's kind of like techno, but also really calming."

I found a company that lets you print round stickers, and put different images/text on each one. This would be perfect for printing off 50+ unique QR codes to be used with an Android app:

http://us.moo.com/pr.../round-stickers.html

(They also let you do similar things with business cards, for those interested in doing promotions such as handing out a bunch of unique serial numbers to their product(s) at special events or for certain people.)

Using DonationCoder in your packagename would suggest you either 'work' for DonationCoder, or made it specifically for DonationCoder, both of which aren't true (afaics).

It would be made specifically for DonationCoder if it was made for NANY. Sort of.

Living Room / Re: Hating on new Google Maps

I clicked on the map and little numbers appeared each place I clicked, making me think I had selected the waypoints via clicking rather than typing in the addresses. I had only 4 waypoints, all within about 10 miles of each other, and it never finished calculating a route.

No, I mean switching it so it acts as only a modem and not as a router at all.

http://www.akadia.co...ransparent_mode.html

I'm not sure that would solve the problem since the ZyXEL would be the "outermost" part of the firewall, and the NAT Loopback still wouldn't work at that level. But to be honest, I'm not entirely sure how these things work.

That's how my setup is, my router, (ASUS RT-N16), does all logging into the ADSL and the loopback.  The modem/router, (TP-Link TD-8817), is switched to Bridge mode - it's a transparent connection to the ISP as far as the RT-N16 is concerned.

That sounds like an awesome solution, since I already have my router configured with ports forwarded and all that, it would be nice to use it without having to reconfigure all those little tweaks I've made over the years. I'll give that a try and report back.

... what I want is for the Maps service to figure out the most efficient route to hit all those points in between. Or put another way, I want it to tell me the most efficient order in which to visit all of those places.

Try OptiMap: Fastest Roundtrip Solver

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or what's up, but I mark a few points on the map and click calculate route and it has a pop up window that says it's doing exactly that, but nothing seems to happen after that point.

It has been said that rather than complain, it's better to be constructive, and in that vein, and in the spirit of this thread, i've decided to make a flowchart for Renegade, to print out and keep next to his monitor.
 (see attachment in previous post)

I like how it never actually ends at "Don't post it." The flowchart keeps flowing until "Hmm.. Post it, I guess..." ;D

I am at point A. I need to end up at point Z, but I want to visit points B, C, ..., X, and Y somewhere in between. Now you (meaning the Map service) do the hard work and figure out the most efficient route for me to take.

maps.yahoo.com - Grab the route line and drag it to whatever route/stops you want in between ... It's a beautiful thing!

That's not quite the same thing as what I'm describing. Yes, you can easily add waypoints to your route, or make sure that you take a certain route by clicking and dragging (and as 4wd mentioned, Google Maps offers the same thing) but what I want is for the Maps service to figure out the most efficient route to hit all those points in between. Or put another way, I want it to tell me the most efficient order in which to visit all of those places.

Did the old maps allow you to go from A to B to C?

You know what feature I'd like in a Maps service? Being able to do something like this:

I am at point A. I need to end up at point Z, but I want to visit points B, C, ..., X, and Y somewhere in between. Now you (meaning the Map service) do the hard work and figure out the most efficient route for me to take.

General Software Discussion / Re: How to enable NAT Loopback on ZyXEL C1000Z router?
« Last post by Deozaan on September 30, 2013, 05:31 PM »
Have you guys considered bridging it out and using your own router with it? Might just solve all your problems.  ;)

You mean like using my own router as a repeater? I'm not sure that would solve the problem since the ZyXEL would be the "outermost" part of the firewall, and the NAT Loopback still wouldn't work at that level. But to be honest, I'm not entirely sure how these things work.
