...are all existing licenses "lifetime" or only those sold during a specific period?

I don't know but expect gizmo's edition really was an "exclusive edition" - there is no longer a version called by this name. Anyway, the lifetime site doesn't offer Sagelight, but has a link to buy it via the developer's site, at only $40 - apparently for a lifetime license, but the word "lifetime" is not used.

The thing that over time has slowed my pc the most, is real-time web protection. (maybe read superboyac's post: https://www.donation....msg218537#msg218537 ). Today I am using Outpost Security Suite 7 > "Relaxed"-setting, for the web. It has helped a lot on the speed.

it could also be that some memory 'block' has died, leaving you with maybe half as much memory as you used to have.

... VideoLAN ... One thing about it that I dislike above all is the unbelievable UGLY icon! What the..., and so on, where they thinking?!!!

I must say, KMPlayer has helped a lot, solving the icon issue:

I am sure more people than me are looking forward to read what you think of Solid Doc'

-hello Thomas, and welcome back (again again!) :-)

Solid Doc's "WYSIWYG Content Extraction" really is quite impressive, (it sure made me consider a license for yet another program to be used once or twice a year... haha), it may actually be what was asked for by the starter of the thread. But another problem is that the same person seems to want everything for nothing, so I expect even the very mentioning of the price, was a turn-off!

.. the most accurate to pick up a color from screen, a graphics file, a screenshot, etc?

ZOOM close, or you might easily get a different colour than the one you were expecting.

now let's be a bit practical
what is the best time to copy in order to have the graphics in best quality? when pdf file is zoomed at 150% ? at 200 % ? at 300 % ?

-neither.

1) Extract the pictures, if they actually are pictures and not just PDF generated background.
2) If they aren't genuine pictures, I would make a simple screenshot at 100%.

which one of the two KMPlayers is it, nudone?
Edited: oh, you didn't mean KLMPlayer!?

Edit_2:
KMPlayer is maybe too big for my taste, a "media center", and has not been updated for a year.

Thanks, nudone, that did the trick.

But I find it a little strange that the clock now is displayed in different colours than before!?

I have had VideoLAN installed a couple of times before, but is not a huge fan of it. One thing about it that I dislike above all is the unbelievable UGLY icon! What the..., and so on, where they thinking?!!! Edited: and if I minimize to sys-tray, there will even be TWO of these motherehh.. ugly things! Well, VLC is playing, and that must be a good enough reason to keep it.

Thanks to both of you!

I also used to have K-Lite, on XP, so I installed it just now (including MPC-HC). The 12-seconds video avi file will now play with sound, Thank You!, BUT the video part is suddenly broken/unstable. I had no problem watching a 100MB video, in sync, but in this little 12-seconds clock video the player misses to show all of the seconds ("all", not "any"; sometimes 2,5, and 7, sometimes maybe 3, and 8.). AFAIK there is no option for "video acceleration" or whatever it is called. Is there some setting I must adjust in order to literally SEE ALL of this little 12-seconds movie?
 :tellme:

---
It was disturbing to install K-Lite. It gave me a looong series of warnings about old codecs that it suggested to remove. I clicked Okay, so I am expecting at least one other program to now be useless!

I have an animation (.avi) that seems to require 12TONEt2.WAV. My various media players will crash/close when I try to play it. The reason I keep trying is that it played without any problems on my previous computer, XP, but just not now on Vista.

The error message from Media Player Classic Home Cinema:

I have no idea what all this is telling.

When I searched the Internet, I was surprised to see that a couple of guys have had the same problem, (so the file 12TONEt2.WAV must be known), but no-one SOLVED the problem, and there seems not to be any "12TONEt2.WAV" to download from anywhere. But maybe the problem is something different than merely missing a file?

Do you have a 12TONEt2.WAV that I can have a copy of, please?

This is an option that the author can/really should use, but rarely does.

So, the answer to your first question is 'No'.

I am totally tempted to change my attitude. Today I became a member of Major Geek's forum because I wanted to express my impatience with them, regarding their lack of a link to Q-Dir's Unicode version. I *might* (for certain) have sounded sour. This was the owner's answer:

We are an American based site, you don't like it go somewhere else. Q-Dir stays as well just to be a dick. Wake up and change your attitude. This ain't some corporation that needs to kiss ***, we're just 2 guys on our basement. Go away, I am sure some larger download sites would have to listen to your crap.

-and the he closed the thread,
leaving me no way to apologize, or otherwise answer!

I have not been able to find any way to cancel my membership.

« Last post by Curt on September 19, 2010, 11:28 AM »
I guess this means that is doesn't have to be a 'perfect' picture with extreme resolution? Normally they say that a fine photo cannot be in GIF format, but I say that if you can settle with a normal good picture, then GIF is a really useful format, because GIFs are not "big", but IrfanView's GIF format gives a very high picture quality. Much higher than the nominal 256 colours. MUCH much higher!

In IrfanView it is fantastic easy, because when you convert to GIF / save the image as GIF, IrfanView will ask you to click at any colour that should be made transparent (see attached screenshot). It is apparently also possible to make transparent areas in a PNG and JPeG, but I have never used these features.

If you install IrfanView (freeware) http://www.irfanview.com/ you really MUST also install the free BAxBEx Shell Extension for IrfanView http://www.baxbex.com/products.html (scroll ALL down). It is sooo useful, when converting.

When converting into / saving as GIF, in IrfanView, this box pops up:

>> Choose transparent color:
Click in the image to set the transparent color. Press ESC to ignore the transparent color. <<

IV2010-09-19.gif

Transparent colour chosen in a second with just one click!

This is an option that the author can/really should use, but rarely does. If he does, it will be a note showing ALL of the time, not merely when you point at it, it will be distracting, impossible to overlook, ruining the design, and it will not be very precisely positioned. On the screenshot, I have made a note to the words American Heritage Dictionary - these words were marked when I wrote the note. See however how it seems to be positioned in the next line, and see also how big and yellow it is. Maybe this are some of the reasons that so few are using the option. Another reason is of course that many pdf files were not first created in the pdf format, but maybe as Word files, and then converted - losing links & features.

However, if you want to, you can easily add these notes yourself, one by one.
