Ok.. I think it's solved. The bug before this one wasn't my fault, but this one sure was. The only numbers changing to '0' was the "screentop", right? The screenRight was correct (at least, it's supposed to be).
So, please re-download.

General Software Discussion / Secure Screensaver
« Last post by jgpaiva on May 03, 2006, 02:25 PM »
Hi there!
I'm looking for a screensaver for my computer with a few "special" things about it. I'd like a screensaver that would turn my computer into one of those computers you see in stores, where you can access the web and such.
Mostly, i'd like it to be a screemsaver that would allow me to have it locked, but not make the computer completelly unusable, so that if i needed, i could still do a fast web search, while not having to unlock the computer. But at the same time, i'd need this screensaver to be safe, so that noone could see my computer's files.

Anyone knows of such app?

ps: i need such app because i live with 3 guys, and we always have people at home, and i prefer to keep my stuff private. (i specially don't want them messing with my computer's "delicate" organization)

Thanks for the big description, nudone. I did the exact same thing you did, and tried using the ini files you sent, but got no similar results.
Still, I made a new version with an atribution made by another way, and maybe that's the solution.

(for those who use ahk, have you ever had problems with doing "var*=2" instead of "var:=2*var"?)
I've very sorry for all the problems, i hope this is the solution.

(You need to use the OK button, since it's the only way to submit the options, or you couldn't change any options..)

Oh, I see from testing with my copy of PortableFirefox that about:kitchensink doesn't work without one of the extensions I use on my full version of Firefox - I think it must be MR Tech Local Install (which is brilliant, and which is here: https://addons.mozil.../moreinfo.php?id=421)

Yup, I've tested that now, and it does need MR Tech Local Install...
EhEh.. crazy! Definitelly worth looking seeing! :D

type about:kitchensink - go ahead, try it...
Ok.. You got me!
But about:mozilla is very interesting!

I'm now trying to figure out what could be wrong.
I noticed an error on the stuff i did yesterday (programming late in the night always gets ne into this kind of stuff). It wasn't saving those values to the .ini file correctly.
Please update to the new version, and delete the older .ini files.

Still, this probably isn't the solution, as i can't reproduce the problem here. Not even if i simulate the same resolution you have.
So, i need to ask you: please test this new version, and save the .ini file right when the script is started, and then, right when the script gives the strange error, and please attach it to a post here.

This is a great newsletter! It even has stuff i didn't remember i saw!

Amazing!  ;D ;D ;D

Ok... Got to it. It was being limited by the arrows on the right of the edit fields (sorry, first time i used those :S).
It's now fixed. I also fixed another bug: it wasn't storing the values of the limits of the screen to the ini file.

Please re-download:
.exe file: http://jgpaiva.dcmem...gMove/DialogMove.exe
.ahk file: http://jgpaiva.dcmem...gMove/DialogMove.ahk

As this version has more settings in the ini file, please delete it before executing this version.

Zeemar: but did the first version work?
3861
Maybe it's related to the compiled file.. I'm working in school work right now, but i should have time to look into it later today or tomorrow.

let me know how you guys like "Simple" mode.. personally i find it very useful - pure minimalist display.
Eheh.. There simply isn't a way the "simple" mode could be simpler.. :) Great work!

I like this new version!
I already have a sticky note to make the portuguese translation ;)

I can't remember very well, but there has been a post about 2 weeks ago about a free project management software, i think. But i can't find it.
3864
But, yes, I even make the size of the minimize, maximize and close buttons in Windows smaller. They're just huge by default.
Yep, true. I do the exact same thing. And the best thing about it is that it actually looks better with the smaller buttons, So, you get a more usable, more space-friendly, and even more visually appealing! :D
3865
Reverting back to 1000x1000? that shouldn't happen, those values don't even make sense. Even so, are you using a multim-monitor configuration?
Even after you change the limits in the options, it changes the values? When you get back to the options menu, they are changed?

If trigger=Space, I get the popup after I type space, e.g.: _foo _. but it never autocompletes.
You actually have to enter a space, not the Space keyword. (hmm) to get it to work. That was confusing me.
Sorry, that's confusing to me too  :tellme:
I didn't quite get what you mean.

A few ideas/feature requests if I may. As far as I know <- using the nice autocompletion here :D, you have to edit the shorcuts file to add a new one. There is a nice script that lets you select a block, hit a shortcut, and have the selection added to the file and the script reloaded. Here:

http://www.autohotke.../docs/Hotstrings.htm
(Hotstring helper)

It could be handy to add that to the end of the hotkeyScript.
Hum.. True, that's a very needed feature, one of the most important. I'll add it to the sticky ;)
(This will make the script quite powerfull. Good idea ;) )

Another idea would be to have a key to undo the expanded expresion quickly.
Yes, also important (specially if you don't use a trigger ;) ). I'll add it to!

(bear in mind that i'm adding to te todo list, unfortunatelly i still have a few stuff to do before.)

Congrats, urlwolf, you've found a bug!
When you submit a file in all caps, the script should create 3 hotstrings for each: all caps, first letter caps, and nothing in caps. Right now, with a file like that, it creates a script with 3 similar hotstrings, all of them in caps. Thanks!

[edit] Just added a sticky note with it. I'll fix it asap. [/edit]

General Software Discussion / Re: Help with AutoHotkey to Terminate Process
« Last post by jgpaiva on May 01, 2006, 07:04 AM »
@jdd: Sorry for the late response, but i forgot this had already been done. See the code of ProcessKiller. It does exactlly what you're looking for.

Ok.. Just a minor update here. Added visual options and tray menu. The next adition will be costumizable hotkeys/functions, which will allow to have more customization.
As for the "ahk_class #32770 bug", i added a new hotkey (F8), which allows you to add a dialog to the detectablewindows list by window title.
This version is a good improvement, since you can now much more easily edit the options, and more importantly, the windows to move or not.

You can get it in the usual place:
.exe file: http://jgpaiva.dcmem...gMove/DialogMove.exe
.ahk file: http://jgpaiva.dcmem...gMove/DialogMove.ahk

Sorry to be the one to ask the dumb question but... I can't really make it work. Running the script, I can see the popups, but it never does any replacement. I wonder why. I have tried different triggers, and no trigger. Nothing works. I have deactivated my other ahk scripts just in case. I don't think I have any remapping to the spacebar at all (too obvious= I would not be able to write spaces).

Any ideas?
Sorry, urlwolf, i really should have something explaining exactlly how it works. The script itself does not do any replacements, it creates another script that does replacements. In the main window, there's a "file to write" parameter. That's the output script. After you configure everything, you run the "HosttringScriptCreator", and it creates a new file in the same directory as the HostringScriptCreator (which has as default name "HotStringsScript.ahk"). That's the one you should run (after you create it).

Maybe i should add a messagebox in the end asking the user if he'd like to immediatelly execute the generated script.
Again, sorry for not being very explicit..  :(

I'm just checking with the users of this coding snack that recent versions of autohotkey provide much better behaviour to this script, namelly in terms of speed in the hotstrings, since new, faster methods of "send" were implemented in latest versions. (v1.0.43+)

Ok.. I've just listened to the first broadcast, and here's my opinion:
THANKS!
Thank you very much zaine, app, joto, housetier, deozaan, superboyac, and as always, mouser. Definatelly a great listen, very funny, captivating!
The only part i didn't like was the "the end" part. The podcast ended too fast ;)
Fantastic work!
